it's right under the apple logo on the outside casing. I noticed this a few days ago, and I brought to the Apple Store today, and they said I would have to pay for it because it's cosmetic damage. I think thats unfair because I believe it's a cosmetic defect, that the owner did not cause.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

As the title states. I am looking for an external display that matches the display on my black MacBook. I want one with the same gloss finish as my MacBook, this way I can calibrate both screens to look the same. That way when I switch screens it doesn't look different.
Anyone know of a screen that looks identical to the (previous generation) MacBook? I was thinking of getting a Samsung T240 but it has a different finish. How are ASUS screens? Any screens out there that have the same gloss finish?
I have a 2007 santa rose mbp and recently I have been having display issues. Out of nowhere is seems that my display just goes black. You can tell that the screen is still on because of the backlighting; its just the picture that seems to disappear. However, the computer still seems to be working fine. I can remote screen share and use the computer normally as if nothing happened. I have no idea if this is some kind of a hardware or software problem... Can this be an indication of the 8600M GT dying?

I have a 19-inch Envision EN9410e LCD flat panel monitor. Right now I did a mirror display setup. The native resolution of this monitor is 1280 x 1024. When I went to System Preferences to change it to that resolution my LCD monitor shows the Snow Leopard desktop but it's in the middle of two black bars. I had to revert to 1024 x 768 resolution to not have the black bars show. Is there a way I can change it to the native resolution and not have the black bars on the top and bottom show up on the screen?

I have a core i7 MBP with the high res display, and when the display is showing black, a horizontal green line appears on the screen. It is only visible when the screen is showing black or another very very dark color, and the line is not visible with the screen off. It isnt something on the screen, as rubbing it does not affect it at all. I cannot post a screenshot of it, because it does not appear in the screenshot (it does on my screen, because the line is there physically, but on other monitors it is not visible).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use external display with my Unibody Aluminium Macbook Pro (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 2.26Gh, snow leopard). Cable setting I use is quite complicated as it is: macbook: minidisplay port>hdmi> DVI D : display. Display is LG Flatron W2242T (4:3).So I hooked everything up and macbook detected display without any problem. The problem arises when it comes to resolution. Maximum resolution I can set (and in fact the only except 800xsomething) is 1152x870 and not only it is to low, but also it does not respect 4:3 ratio so it looks quite bad. So bad, that i cant really work on a setup like that. When I try to change resolution to any other, Display goes black. I tried using some apps, but they dont really work.

Anyone of you experiencing suborn stain, I.E keyboard become yellowish after a long terms usage? (On apple keyboard), well here is the solution for you guys. All you need is
-Toothpaste (any will do but, It works well if the toothpaste have the effect for whitening)
-Clothe,(white color clothe so you can see the toothpaste actually working)
-a little bit amount of water
Okay all you need is take a little bit amount of toothpaste, use your finger apply it evenly on the area, rub on it, after about 10 second of rubbing use the clothe to continue rubbing until you see your keyboard start to turn to normal color as you purchase after rubbing the toothpaste should be dry up but no worries it will leave no stain, use another clothe dip in a little bit amount of water(very little, don't deep in too much else the water will accidentally drip in to the keyboard). and rub on the area. You can see actually the keyboard start to turn to white color, repeat the sequence to achieve the maximum result that you desire.
So I've got my MBP that I've had for about 4 months, the thing is. It just recently started to have screen flickering issues. I'll be sitting doing w/e as usual and all of a sudden the display goes dark, almost black, for a second, then comes back up again. I have yet to find any trend in when this is happening, but it is definitely happening on battery as well as plugged in, but it seems to be getting worse.any one have any idea what this could be, something I can fix on my own, or should I take it in?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 year old PowerBook G4 12" (Model 6,1) hooked up to a 20" VGA display using the Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter that came with the computer. Perfect performance for several years. I now want to hook up my early 2008 Black MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz. (Model 3,1) to the same monitor. The "Mini-DVI" connector on the MacBook computer does not mate with my adapter! It is real close in size and shape, but is obviously a different connector design.
The MacBook manual says the display port is a "Mini-DVI". The older PowerBook manual also says it's display port is a "Mini-DVI." Apple's site implies that the two computers require the same adapter, but that is obviously wrong. Some of the product reviews say that the Apple information is wrong, but no one has posted the correct information (part number). Is there an adapter for the black MacBook to VGA? I've spent all afternoon searching (including here an MacRumors) for the real part number for an adapter. No luck. I have also tried several Apple phone numbers and the chat forum, all with no results. Does anyone know what I should order to adapt the MacBook display port to a VGA cable, and from where?
I'm about to get the new MacBook Pro with an anti-glare screen. As I like the black frame of the glossy screens a lot more, I would like to know If you know about any replacement parts or any other ideas to get the black frame on a anti-glare screen. I thought about a kind of a sticker that you could attach over the silver bezel.

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (2.0 GHz i7, 4 Gig Memory, Lion.7 with all upgrades) that has just started behaving strangely. When I put it to sleep by closing the lid and wake it up by opening the lid, the display is normal for a moment or two, then goes black. The keyboard is lit, and clicking on the trackpad gives me an alert sound, but it seems impossible to get the screen to light up. The only way I can get the screen back is to restart the computer. Putting it to sleep by clicking on sleep in the Apple menu works fine (it wakes up normally), but closing the lid doesn't.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my rMBP13 (OS X 10.9.3) received a couple of weeks ago to my desk display (LG Flatron W2486L) through apple's DVI-mini display port adapter.
Here is the results:
The MBP freezes a couple of seconds (I guess normal) after plugging in the mini display connector in one of the thunderbolt ports, but nothing happen on the external display (no signal).
The MBP sees the display: from "system preferences>displays" I see the MBP sees the external display and recognises the model "W2486"; but it seems to me that the display doesn't see the MBP...Â
I've tried to restart the MBP, but with the same result.Â
(I've ben using the display through the DVI port with my old PC, so it works).Â
Today, I bought a vga adapter for my unibody macbook and it is not working. I hooked it on a 22 inch Samsung 225MW screen and it the screen shows a message "check your cable (PC)".

This happens in both BBC iplayer and 4od, and it happens in safari and firefox. I'm currently trying to repair my disk permissions, and have emptied the cache of safari. I have uninstalled and re-installed flash player multiple times with no luck.

I have a MacBook Pro (13'', Early 2011) & iMac (21.5", Mid 2011) using a Thunderbolt Cable to Target Display. Everything was working find and I could Command F2 to Target Display as expected.However, about a week about this stopped working. Now when I try to Target Display the iMac goes to a Black screen (like it's switching to Target Display) and the MacBook Pro does nothing. The iMac will be at the Black screen until I Command F2 again (or disconnect the Thunderbolt Cable), then the iMac goes back to the normal display. I have tried another Thunderbolt cable with no luck. I have perform all software updates on both machines (now both running 10.7.3) and fixed Disk Permissions. I have also found that restarting my MacBook Pro allows this to function as excepected (Command F2, Blue Flashing Screen, Target Display on the iMac). However, this is not an ideal situation since having to restart my computer is time consuming. Â

I have been using my MacBook with an external monitor since I brought it in 2011 and have had no problems with connecting it to my external monitor. Connected via mini display port DVI adapter and a DVI cable to a Philips monitor.
Two days ago when I plugged the MacBook back in to the monitor I connected and but now only displays a black screen, I can move the mouse off the MacBook screen and over to the external monitor and back but it is not displayed on the monitor. I have tried connecting other devices to the monitor and they work fine.

Macbook pro 2014 only had it for about 2 months but recently about three weeks ago the display has been flicking to a black screen but has gradually been increasing and it now happens every two minutes - just randomly goes black for about 5 or 10 seconds and sometimes goes back to home screen but sometimes goes to log in screen, It interferes with me trying to do my work when this happens so frequently

I have a 2 month old 13" MBP which I absolutely love. The only hitch is that there is an oddity when connected to my Dell 2008wfp display. It only happens when I wake the MBP from sleep. A number of things happen sometimes. Usuaully, when I wake the MBP from sleep, i get a black screen on both displays and all I can see and control is the cursor. Sometimes the main display will be black, but the MBP display will show the desktop wallpaper, but again, I can only see and control the mouse cursor. It should also be worth mentioning that the keyboard is rendered non-functional as well.
Sometimes, OS X will appear on both displays, with mouse cursor active, keyboard inactive, but I am unable to click anything or interact with anything OS X.
Anyway, I'm at the point where I need to mention this because it happens quite frequently and its getting rather annoying. The only way I can get out of this hang, is to cold reboot the machine. It happens everyday and at least 50% of the time I wake the MBP from sleep. When not connected to the display, I never get this occurrence. Also, this display worked perfectly when I used to own the classic 15" MBP, so its hard for me to pinpoint what exactly is the anomaly that is happening.
Anyone else experiencing this same issue? I am using a mini display port to DVI adapter to the Dell display.
