Today, I bought a vga adapter for my unibody macbook and it is not working. I hooked it on a 22 inch Samsung 225MW screen and it the screen shows a message "check your cable (PC)".

I have an 2010 Mac Book Pro 15" - I've bought MiniDisplayPort to DVI adapter but when I try to connect it to my screen it does not work.
When I connect the cable to the computer the MacBook internal display do a flicker (turn on and right back on) so it defiantly "fell" something but the external screen does not show anything.
Also in the System Profiler in Graphics/Display both Intel and NVidia video cards show

Is it possible that the adapter is simply defected or there is other issues?
I have a 6 year old PowerBook G4 12" (Model 6,1) hooked up to a 20" VGA display using the Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter that came with the computer. Perfect performance for several years. I now want to hook up my early 2008 Black MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz. (Model 3,1) to the same monitor. The "Mini-DVI" connector on the MacBook computer does not mate with my adapter! It is real close in size and shape, but is obviously a different connector design.
The MacBook manual says the display port is a "Mini-DVI". The older PowerBook manual also says it's display port is a "Mini-DVI." Apple's site implies that the two computers require the same adapter, but that is obviously wrong. Some of the product reviews say that the Apple information is wrong, but no one has posted the correct information (part number). Is there an adapter for the black MacBook to VGA? I've spent all afternoon searching (including here an MacRumors) for the real part number for an adapter. No luck. I have also tried several Apple phone numbers and the chat forum, all with no results. Does anyone know what I should order to adapt the MacBook display port to a VGA cable, and from where?
Only way to recover is hard restart. Just downloaded Lion two weeks ago - problem started shortly after.Â

I am looking for recommendations on a good Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter for my Macbook Pro 2011 Sandy Bridge. Just a warning, I bought a Mac Mini (2009) and wanted it to hook it up to my TV. My TV does not have HDMI or DVI inputs so I bought a Mini DVI to Video adapter from Apple.But I could not get it to work, then I googled for it and it seems this adapter does not work with 2009 Mac's since it does not output an analog signal anymore!

So our church just purchased a nice refurb iMac to use for media presentations during weekly worship services. We have a projector with a VGA cable, so I bought a mini display port to VGA adapter from apple so that we can connect our shiny new iMac to our big screen.
However, when we attempt to connect our VGA to our adapter, they don't fit together properly. It's like the screws on the VGA cable aren't long enough to screw into the adapter...thus, the cable won't stay connected to the adapter (it just falls out).
Someone suggested getting an S cable to replace the VGA cable, but Apple tells me there's no adapter to link the S cable to the iMac. I'm absolutely clueless...surely there is a way to connect my wonderful new iMac to the big screen.
Any ideas?
Recently my Mac has been extremely unstable. It keeps freezing up and hanging for no reason. Initially a 3 beep would sound off, I ran some tests like the apple hardware one and realised that one of the rams was bad. I bought 2 new sticks of ram and replaced it. Following which, the mac still freezes up and a 3 beep alarm sounded off again.
Currently, I'm trying to turn it on, no 3 beep signal is sounding off but the Mac either keeps freezing and showing a highly pixelated screen or a black screen surfaces. There is some sound coming off from the laptop as well. Each time I switch on the system, it just shows a black screen with no display.
The Mac is a 15'' 2.66 MHz i7 which was manufactured in the mid 2010s.
The 2 new sticks of ram are Strontium 1066Mhz 4Gb x 2 sticks.
In the initial stages: kernel panics were common as well.

today i bought the mini display port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple store. The video display is fine but there is no audio. I checked my preferences and there is no option for the TV's speakers. My macbook is from 2009 if this would make a difference.

Despite its description, I hooked it up to my receiver and it does NOT pass audio through. I've been hunting around and all I've found so far is one Youtube video of a guy with an adapter that worked (in the sound section of the system preferences, it shows another option for output that I didn't have), but not what adapter it was.
I just got my new mini today, but the cord for the monitor doesn't fit my current one. I'm pretty sure that the product listed below is the one I should buy, but can anyone confirm this for me? [URL]

I have a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter hooked up to a DVI -VGA adapter which leads to the display. I haven't got it to work yet. I have followed advice about closing the lid and using usb mouse and keyboard with no luck. The only thing that happens is that the screen on the laptop flashes blue for about a second after plugging in the Mini DisplayPort adapter.

i have an old display that i'm trying to use as a second screen. it's ADC, so what i need is a female ADC to male DVI or mini display adapter. now, i'm biting the bullet and i realize i'll have to shell out at least 100 bucks, but is there any option other than the official apple option?

i know i'll need something with external power, and so it'll be bulky. that's not my problem. my problem is that (as you can see in the comments in the link) the apple adapter doesn't let the display go to sleep, and that's no good for me. So, i'm asking those more in the know than i am. what are my other options? i'm even willing to spend a little more money if i have to to get something that will give the display a rest when i'm not using it.
I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

So I have been using a HDMI to DVI with a DVI to Mini DP adapter to connect my Macbook Pro to my television. Recently the adapter is having issues, so I am going to replace it, but I am just curious if I will get better quality with a HDMI to HDMI to Mini DP adapter?
I'm not sure if there's even going to be noticeable difference between the two.
