I bought a battery for my macbook and now it has started to expand and make it useless as if it even connects, it doesnt let me use the trackpad! Its the only battery I have!
Do apple still have warrantly for abnormal battery? I'm in the UK and cant find a number to phone about this? Does anyone know the tel no?
I have already run the battery down to zero left it over night and started it up and it had 2% so I ran that down again. Is it now suffice to say that it is dead? Or should I leave it for the rest of the day and try to turn it on and run it down once more
I have a MacBook Pro. Keeps completely shutting down all the time when its fully charged and at random times when it is at 65% for example. Do I need to get a battery replacement? Or do I have a virus?
So a while ago a bunch of new icons appeared in my launchpad(four pages worth). I clicked on a few and they didn't do anything, but am hesitant to mess around too much as I don't want to mess up my system. I've tried to find a way to hide them, but have come up short.
A wonderful Macbook Air has been recenly given to me as a present, but I have an obsession: I have read somewhere that the keyboard is set into the upper case, so that is impossible to replace it without spending half of the money this computer costs.generally i hate to exaggerate with protections, but I just wondering what is the normal time of usury of the keyboard (supposed in a daliy usage..)..Does it wear out prematurely before the other components of the computer, or it will be ruined when my Macbook is a rattletrap? In other words: shall I buy a cheap chinese keboard cover using it from time to time or a more expensive one (such as Moshi or iSkin) for an every-day usage?Â
I recently moved into a student flat with 8 other people, and we have set up a fibre optic net contract with Virgin Media, who have supplied us with a Netgear Wireless N-300 router. When we first installed it we had a little problem with it not connecting to any of our laptops, but another flatmate has since 'switched the channel to 11' and now it works on their Windows ones. But not mine. I have an early 2008 15" MBP. I'm currently sat right next to the router but the only way I can get connection from it is through the ethernet. When I switch to wireless, I can pick up a full signal pretty much everywhere in the house - we have 3 floors - but no websites will load, Spotify won't connect etc. Occasionally it will grant me two minutes of very slow connection - taking a minute to decide to access a page, then not letting me go on the next and giving me 404s instead.
I'm not really sure how to solve this as I will definitely need internet connection for my studies this Sept. My room is the one directly next to the router room so signal shouldn't be a problem. I tried downloading iStumbler a few times but it kept crashing before opening. I do know, however, from my airport bit of about this mac: AirPort Card Information: Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8C) Wireless Card Locale: Worldwide Wireless Card Firmware Version:Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.38.35) Current Wireless Network:Wharncliffe2k10 Wireless Channel:11 What should I do? I have had issues of signal drop in most houses (where Airport loses all its bars completely and won't connect) but not this issue of having signal and still not loading.
The "Eject" button on the MBA is supposed to used when a SuperDrive is connected, to eject the CD/DVD. But to many of us who don't use the SuperDrive, that function is useless and the key is wasted. I am wondering, could we somehow set it to work with other external devices like external hdd, USB drives, etc.? i.e., instead of going right-click on the device and then selecting "Eject ABC" before unplugging, simply click the device (on desktop), then press that little Eject button on your keyboard.

I have recently purchased a hybred 750GbHDD as an upgrade for my MAC Book Pro (Intell Version) I have a boot camp partition to the original 500GB HDD. How can I expand both partitions to fit the new drive? I have tried bootcamp and have had no luck due to the fact that boot camp doesn't see the additional HDD space of 250Gb. What am I not doing?
Even when I hit the Green button on any window it never maximizes the screen size to fill up the screen and still keep the dock showing at the bottom?Â
so lately after switching from windows to mac i've been suffering from Virus paranoia, running scan after scan every day on my pc. now i ask myself, should i have an antivirus for mac?i realize there are only trojans for mac and you have to type in your password to get them but should we run antivirus software as good cititzens? to protect windows users? to stop the spread of viruses? Voice your opinions and what antivirus is best for mac and if we even need one.
So I tag people in iphoto, and I make sure that they're named the same as they are on facebook. It then puts it onto facebook with a name tag, but no link to their profile. So it's not properly tagged. Which means the tool isn't actually very useful, since it doesn't provide full functionality.
Has anyone else experienced problems with the USB ports on a wired keyboard since you installed the latest Apple system update? After I ran the update, the keyboard USB ports are getting just 100 mA total; they can't even power a simple flash drive anymore.
I searched the Apple forums and noticed several users complaining about the same thing. The update seems to have made the keyboard USB ports absolutely useless.
I'd love to see CNET look into this; and if the underpowered ports are a common issue, I hope enough people complain for Apple to acknowledge the error and fix this in a subsequent update.
For those of you who have freezing/beachballing in Snow Leopard and upgraded from Leopard - delete every 3rd party plugin you installed during Leopard in Quicktime, Quicklook or Safari...etc..
I upgraded my 27" iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 duo from 4GB of ram (2x2GB) to 8GB of ram (2x4GB). I followed the instructions and removed the old ram, put in the new ram and after many restarts my computer finally came up. When it did finally come up I had the spinning wheel of death. When the screensaver came on, I heard my skype connect and I moved my mouse and wouldn't you know my computer was working! So to test to see if my computer would work again, I restarted. Same thing - came right up to spinning wheel - screen saver turned on after 30 minutes and again - Skype connected and no more spinning. Memory on Activity Monitor is looking great - but my computer is useless until the screen saver starts.
How hard is it to put an electronic touch sensor on the mouse for scrolling so we don't end up with a gummed-up, useless scroll wheel after a year of use?
D/Loaded Adobe 10.3.1, now all pdfs from internet are just a gray screen. Pdf's attached to emails OK. I'm on latest Safari Browser. Can't find earlier non-troublesome Adobe REader on Internet.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Latest Safari Browser
Like many of you, my magsafe finally started getting hot enough to make popcorn. Where I would have gone out and bought another, a simple dead short was too easy of a repair.... and I can use that $80 for other Apple goodies. I might as well get something out of my electronics degree. I decided to take pics to share. Since I seem to take pics of things people like these days, I've watermarked them to avoid any *more* theft of images. Apologies in advance for the watermarks. I would have written this as a DIY, but I determined if you couldn't get the jist from the pics, you shouldn't be attempting it. (Self solving problem) Basically what happens is that the outer shielding breaks FIRST from the flexxing of the cable. Once the outer shielding breaks the wire loses all it's structural integrity and it's a very short time before the inner wire starts poking through and creating small dead shorts between the + and - voltage of the two. This is why some days it is blisteringly hot and some days it is not. There are only small strands of the inner wire poking through and each time they make contact they burn off, creating a very hot wire, but one that seems to fix itself or only randomly get hot. If you continue to use the adapter in this situation you WILL end up with a fire that can threaten your book, your home, and your life.
At this point in the life of the wire it is in critical. The inner wire is breaching the jacket and the outer wire has nearly broken in half. The effects are a very poor connection on the negative shielding which creates heat by lack of ability to properly transfer energy. The heat warms up the already damaged inner jacket and the next thing you know.... you are here complaining about your Magsafe almost burning your leg off. With a little skill, you can fix this issue and save $80. The process took me 45 minutes and cost me NOTHING. My adapter is like new and will last me another year before I have to do it again. Inevitably by design, all Magsafe's will fail. I don't know about you, but I have better things to do with my $80, so once a year I don't mind making this repair. If you buy a new Magsafe it WILL fail again. The revision of a SLIGHTLY larger rubber grommet is a horrible fix with minimal results.
I used the typical installation in parallels 5, of which it automatically set up the virtual hard drive size. if I find I need more space later on, is there anyway I can expand the virtual hard drive size? I have a macbook pro i7 2010 running windows 7 pro 64 bit.
I have a failed WD My Book Pro II and I'm looking to replace this enclosure with the Mercury Elite-AL Pro QX2 4-bay Hardware RAID enclosure. If I move my two SATA drives (currently configured as a Raid-0) from the My Book to the QX2, will I be able to access my data? And would it be possible to expand this existing Raid-0 when I insert a third drive? And will I be able to convert the raid-0 to raid-5 as well?
I know how to add, remove and expand partitions on a hard disc using Disk Utility, but having removed the third of four partitions, I want to increase the size of the first one to make use of the space. But I can't as partition two is right next to it.Is this possible to do this withing having to erase the third partition first? and now I want to increase partition one.Expanding two is easy!
When I click the little triangle next to the event in the library, it spins downward and no video files show. It's my second project for a new company and on a brand new computer with a new install of final cut pro X and glitches are already starting to show.Â
