I turn on my computer and all i get is a blank white screen. No logo, no loading symbol, just a blank screen; though the start-up music still plays. I have tried almost all the solutions.

Most of the time when I turn on the Mac I get the white screen and question mark appear. Sometimes it will turn on and work. But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. The computer seemed pretty warm yesterday when this happened.Â

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.
I've tried turning it ff and on via the power button several times, but it always goes back to the white screen.

All of a sudden my 13" MacBook pro (2011) takes a long time to shut down. And on boot up it remains on a blank white screen where all I can do is move the mouse around. It may or may not boot to the desktop. At the moment I'm leaving it on sleep and it performs fine, apps load like normal but I'm afraid to shut it down incase it won't boot up again. The shut down takes so long that I need to hold the power button to shut it down. I've read around that it could be hardware failure but like I said I have it on sleep and it performs fine when I wake it.

I have a unibody macbook and today it was working fine, then tonight i opened it up it was frozen so after a minute of trying to get it to work with no sucess I held the power button until it turned off. when I tried turning on again the screen stayed white and would not turn on. So i turned it off and held option and the scary part is the osx partition is gone but my window partition is still there Im posting this from the window partition. How could it just randomly dissappear I didnt even use the windows part for the past month.

View 24 Replies View RelatedFrom time to time, now, on my recently-acquired 2008 2.8x8 Mac Pro, it'll boot to a blank white screen, no Apple logo, no spinning indicator. It does not have Boot Camp set up. A single press of the power button will turn it off and it'll boot fine the immediately subsequent try. The console doesn't show anything.

Here�s what happens in greater detail. I quit or force quit all open applications. I press the ON/OFF button until the screen goes black. I wait several minutes and press the same button ON. I get the Apple cord sound and a blank white screen. The Apple icon does not come on; nothing happens. That�s when I close it down again and disconnect it from the back and reconnect it (a few seconds). Then I press the O/F button and the Apple cord sound AND the Apple icon come back, the system revs back up. All all is well � except for the ball coming back...
A small (about 1 inch square) blank, white box has appeared at top left-hand corner of my screen. Nothing seems to shift or remove it - cursor doesn't seem to recognise or register on it. I have a problem with my mini/quicktime setup and i was hoping for some help from you all at macrumors...
Here is the setup
This system is setup for a admissions office in which we have a mac mini set up to a LCD screen that is all mounted on a wall.
we have the mini on timer to come on from 1230-5pm and when the mini comes on, quicktime is set to automatically open and play the admissions video.
Now here is the problem:
when I turn on the LCD every day, the screen is blank but Ican still hear the video, I figured it was in hibernation so i move the mouse and hit the keyboard and nothing. i need to push the power button and hold it for a couple seconds then the movie comes on but the video is choppy.
here are the specs on the mini: 1.25 power pc G4, 512 Ram.
its old but its only function is to play this video...
When I turn my computer on nothing happens. You can hear the drive or cooling fans but there is nothing on the screen. Normally there is the spinning wheel but now nothing.

I'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.

I hear the computer physically turn on, but a blank screen remains. I recently purchased a new battery for the computer for the battery status read replace soon about a week ago. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a ibook G4 that's been randomly shutting down. It started doing this maybe about a month ago but it's started getting really bad lately. At first it would shut down if I unplugged the adapter. Not every time I unplugged it, but probably about 50% of the time. When I press the battery button all of the green lights would light up. About half of the time it will start up again if I just hit the power button but the half of the time I have to reset the pRAM. Lately this same thing has been happening except when the computer is still plugged in. And when in say shutting down I mean essentially instantaneously. One second it's on and then the screen goes black and it makes that turning off noise. Not a chime, but like all the fans and hardware are coming to a stop.
