I am on 10.6.8 on a MacBook. - we have just created a partition for my daughter and strangely the only app that has not made it across is Safari...how to get it on to the partition.

my brother installed some kind of plug in called tenshisTV to be able to watch a streaming video of ufc today without my knowledge
i uninstalled it. ever since then i am unable to open new tabs, commant+t doesnt work, and neither does going to file > new tab does not work either.
also when i right click on links, the option to "open link in new tab" has also disappeared
how do i fix this?
my browser most of the times show up ads like mackeeper or something when i select something.....it occurs almost overtime i select anything and its very annoying and disturbing...any way to stop those ads....i have already downloaded ad block from safari extensions but still no use of it...

I am really stumped as software up to date, Over the last month or so, when opening Safari or trying to open a second tab the colour wheel appears and freezes safari. The only way to get away from this is by powering down and restarting.

Recently, Safari 3.2.3 on 10.4.11 has stopped loading images. No placeholder icons appear, just blank spaces. Other browsers, such as Firefox, are not affected, nor are other user accounts. I tried repairing permissions, but that didn't help. Has anybody ever seen this behavior? Is this something that a preferences reset should be able to resolve, or is something more drastic necessary?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago arrows started to appear above my tabs. The arrow corresponds to where my cursor is on the page and as I move my cursor, the arrow moves to the next tab and shifts my page view from one tab to the other. It's a quick way to navigate but I have no idea what activates it or how to turn it off. It's driving me away from Safar.

Since this morning I have been getting strange adverts on facebook and wikipedia.There is usually some text by the adverts that say "adverts not from this site"I downloaded something yesterday from a video streaming site that I have since uninstalled using a wise uninstaller program, but these adverts remain.I use safari but they come up on firefox too.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was trying to fix something with the tabs in Safari (they kept reloading/refreshing every time I clicked back on one) and so I unchecked "Use multi-process windows" under the debug menu. However, now a lot of the links on websites appear as a bunch of A's inside little boxes (that sounds weird so I've included a picture below as an example) I feel like maybe trying to fix the tabs issue simply complicated things and now it's difficult to navigate on some sites

Have a macbook pr 17 with bootcamp.
the osx 10.6 partition is giving errors (the black and white multi language message that tells you to hold down the power button..)
have done a permissions repair, run techtool from a boot disc, all have failed to repair.
next step is for me to reintall snow leopard, and as i have no dual layer disks or usb keys i intend to install from external usb drive using the instructions here:

But how do i format the drive from within windows as boot recognisable from mac?

Ever since i logged out and back in again nothing is appearing on my desktop. I can only see my background. Not even the silver bar at the top is visible, it's really worrying me! The only way i've managed to get onto safari to write this is because i pressed the play button on my keyboard which opened up itunes, which is when the silver bar appeared and i just went and clicked on the apple logo in the top far left corner and clicked recent items, and luckily one of them was safari. But if i quite safari the silver bar at the top will disappear and i won't be able to do anything.

According to my lil bro, the computer landed screen down. Now whenever he tries booting his Mac, a folder icon appears on the screen and the HDD makes a continuous skipping noise. I'm guessing a new HDD will fix the problem?

I recently RE-Imaged my MacBook Air because of other software issues. Well that fixed those problems, now I am having other problems! When I plug a Pendrive, or my External HD into the MBA it doesn't appear on the desktop but it does show up in the Finder Window.

My Macbook Air has been working fine up until recently. Now all of a sudden I get a white screen and a flashing folder on start up. I've looked into this on the support forums and found nothing. The following did nothing for me and I can't get to Disk Utility:

However I thought I had some Joy with Option+R. It gets to the Internet recovery stream but then won't connect to any network. What I'm wondering about are these lines that are appearing/disappearing on the screen. I think it may be a sign that the video card is going out. The lines are horizontal bands that appear often when I'm watching video. Occasionally they'll appear while scrolling or loading a webpage. They're usually quite thin, although it does appear to be getting worse. Does anyone know what this would be? Is it safe to assume a dead logic board is in my future? View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to MBP 13'' (2010), just 3 weeks now, and it's my first laptop, so I don't know if this is just normal or not. I have noticed there are several marks on screen appears to be from keyboard edges, say where the "E" key supposed to meet the screen. Looks like small spot scratches, but fortunately they came off when I clean them with damped cloth. It came back after I use and close/open the lid, same spots I think. New MBP design looks like the keys should not touch the screen, but it appears to be keep touching while lid is closed? What about yours, can you see marks when the screen is turned off? Or I may need to worry about screen protection? (if I do cleaning often the same spots I guess it may scratch eventually?)

I use my Mac Mail to send my personal emails... However I also use it to monitor my work email. However, when I use my work Gmail account to send multiple messages either on my phone or on my computer through Gmail, whenever I go into mac Mail I have 40+ copies of the emails I sent. I tried to look in the setting if there's something that disables this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA couple weeks ago, I decided to download a stand-alone jar file for my personal use. The jar file, dependent on nothing, ran in Jar Laucher by default and worked fine. Earlier this week, however, I decided my Mac was cluttered and so I went through it and cleared out everything I wasn't ever going to use again. I also have an app called "The Unarchiver" from the Mac App store (I've had this for about two months). Since the uncluttering, three bad things have happened. 1) Any .jar files open in The Unarchiver instead of Jar launcher
2) When I search around my Mac for Jar Launcher, nothing appears.
3) The .jar file icons changed to this:
Also, I tried uninstalling The Unarchiver, and it still didn't work. Either Jar Launcher is gone, or it went dormant. What should I do, and if needed, where can I reinstall Jar Launcher? (Mac Late 2009 Model 10.7.3)

I have a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz/250GB HDD/2GB RAM that won't turn on, unless I leave the power button pressed, in which case, as you all know, the computer turns off again. It started about 3 days ago. Set the computer to sleep, shut it closed, took it to another room and opened it. The MBP gave me the blue screen, then black and then... nothing. At first I thought it was the HDD, but now I'm having second thoughts. I now think it's the cpu fan.

i recently bought a 13"retina display macbook pro. It is so disappointing. There is a horizontal line that appears on the screen and disappears. This was for the third time i had to face the same issue. When i explain to the staff at the apple store they say that they have not come across such issue, for which i showed a proof from the other part of the world.

In the past I saw that this issue was resolved by uninstalling pharos but I don't have pharos installed on my computer.
