Since this morning I have been getting strange adverts on facebook and wikipedia.There is usually some text by the adverts that say "adverts not from this site"I downloaded something yesterday from a video streaming site that I have since uninstalled using a wise uninstaller program, but these adverts remain.I use safari but they come up on firefox too.

I've noticed that strange yellow boxes will randomly appear on my display. This happens both on my external display and hte laptop screen. I've attached a screen shot of what it looks like. It's not application specific.

Recently, Safari 3.2.3 on 10.4.11 has stopped loading images. No placeholder icons appear, just blank spaces. Other browsers, such as Firefox, are not affected, nor are other user accounts. I tried repairing permissions, but that didn't help. Has anybody ever seen this behavior? Is this something that a preferences reset should be able to resolve, or is something more drastic necessary?

i uninstalled it. ever since then i am unable to open new tabs, commant+t doesnt work, and neither does going to file > new tab does not work either.
also when i right click on links, the option to "open link in new tab" has also disappeared
how do i fix this?
A few weeks ago arrows started to appear above my tabs. The arrow corresponds to where my cursor is on the page and as I move my cursor, the arrow moves to the next tab and shifts my page view from one tab to the other. It's a quick way to navigate but I have no idea what activates it or how to turn it off. It's driving me away from Safar.

I was trying to fix something with the tabs in Safari (they kept reloading/refreshing every time I clicked back on one) and so I unchecked "Use multi-process windows" under the debug menu. However, now a lot of the links on websites appear as a bunch of A's inside little boxes (that sounds weird so I've included a picture below as an example) I feel like maybe trying to fix the tabs issue simply complicated things and now it's difficult to navigate on some sites

Is it possible to link any websites to the Dict app other than Wikipedia? Sometimes I wish I could have it linked to Urban Dictionary and such so that when I look up a word in my Dict app and it happens to be a slang one, I could get a definition off of Urban Dictionary?

Resizing or this solution don't work. (Make sure private browsing is turned off in Safari, and don't delete the cache. You also have to do this every 30 days, which sux.) [URL]

For example, I would activate the program by hotkey (like Quicksilver), then search a word/phrase (like "biology," "Africa," "bill of rights," etc.) The program would then give a definition, synonyms, wikipedia entries, about.com entries, etc. based on that term. I know there are widgets that do similar tasks, but not one that is collective/expansive, nor one as quick as an application like Quicksilver.

A couple of weeks ago, I suddenly started seeing pop ups in both my Chrome and Safari browsers. I have pop up ads turned off in both, went so far as to uninstall Chrome and the .dmg for it several times, cleared all histories, cookies, extensions, etc, etc. What's even more maddening is that it happens while just using plain old Google to do a search. I have cleaned out all old pics and documents via Finder that I no longer needed. I have nothing new that has caused this change. So what the heck is happening here??? I have been trying to track this isue down and can't find a solution. Firefox seems to be the only thing unaffected at this point, but I migrated away from Mozilla a long time ago. I've tried searching Google's forums, but the fact it's happening in Safari suggests it's something within my Mac. I've run a virus scan (semi-redundant, I'm aware, but I'm grasping) and all is clear. Do I try a malware search now?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe last few weeks I'm suddenly getting tons of "Warning: the certificate isn't valid" error messages when I go to sites on Safari. Normal sites: Facebook, Chase bank, amazon -- nothing suspect or out of the ordinary. I haven't downloaded anything suspect, virus scans reveal no issues, no viruses... is this problem something inherent to the latest update of Safari? Or, is there a setting I need to change - a box I need to tick - to make this stop happening? It's so constant now that I can barely use Safari because every new URL generates authentication messages.
