MacBook :: Programs To Speed Up OSX?
May 8, 2009I am running Leapord on my Blackbook and it it seems to me that it is running a lot slower than when I first got it. Is there a program out there that will help me to speed it up again?

MacBook :: Slow Speed Causing Programs To Run Incorrectly
Jun 3, 2009Over the past month or so I've noticed my Macbook has slowed down greatly. I am using a blackbook, 2.2 GHZ, 4GB ram, santa rosa. Many of my programs are failing to close completely causing me to force quit. I'm having several troubles with iWeb(uploading). I've tried to repair permissions several times, and executed batch tasks with Main menu and still it's buggy, freezing, and slow. I have about 30GB of HD space left, don't know if that could be an issue.

Mar 25, 2010I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

Apr 30, 2009Sorry for the title but I couldn't think of anything better. Hopefully I'll be able to explain my problem. I have a MPR 2.53 ghz, 4 gig ram, I'm using Safari 4.04. I am using the WIFI at a guesthouse in Thailand (but I had the same issue in China, Vietnam ...). I ran a speed test and it said download 7mb/sec and upload about 1mb/sec. I have an "app" that says bandwidth in 1.3kb/sec out 1.0kbs. I thought maybe it was Safari so I downloaded and installed Firefox. firefox gives me similar speeds. When I downloaded Firefox though I had a download speed of over 1mb/sec. But as soon as it finished downloading the speed went back to around 1kb/sec. I have rebooted my MBP many times. I did some Google searches but didn't find anything helpful.

Apr 10, 2009I have a WDS local network at my house. I use a Airport Extreme in my main part of the house and a Airport Express for my back part of the house i.e. the backyard. Now every two weeks or so my internet speed through my Airport Express slows down about half the speed but when I am connected trough the Airport Extreme my speed is normal. I know this because I test my connection very often. Now when I want the Airport Express to get back up to speed I have to unplug, and plug it back in. Then after awhile it starts to slow down again in a time period of two weeks or so.

Apr 12, 2009i have a 1.5 Mbps AT&T DSL connection, and multiple speed tests show a download speed of 1.2 Mbps (and 200 Kbps upload). when i download files, such as software updates from Apple, various podcasts, and even Silverlight from Microshaft, the speed is always between 140 - 160 Kbps. i contacted AT&T, and the rep said it was because of buffering by the servers i was receiving the files from. is this a reasonable explanation? is this an accurate use of the term "buffering"?

If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.

I use smcFanControl, gfxCardStatus, and iStat. smcFanControl obviously lets you control your fan speed. gfxCardStatus lets you choose your graphic card or use the default dynamic switching. iStat is of course the famous widget that basically tells you everything you need to know about whats going on inside. I feel all of these are necessary for me to have complete control of my Macbook Pro.

Sep 5, 2014As stated above I upgraded my memory to Crucial 8G 1067 mhz DDR3. The initial results were outstanding however over the past few months the performance has decreased and I'm now getting the spinning ball often. Additionally the startup seems very sluggish. I use Onyx for maintenance and do not have any startup programs. I have also reset the kernel cache. (If I remember correctly)

Nov 4, 2010I'm trying to install programs, I get past the agreement page and as soon as i start putting my password in the spinny disc starts spinning... its looks like its installing, writes all the files and when it looks like its installed it says failed, contact manufacturer... I thought maybe it was just that program so I tried a different one and the same thing.
