I've begun to notice a ring, roughly three inches in diameter, in the middle of my Air, Rev C, Screen. It is a white ring, a couple of millimeters thick, that I can see best behind an all white screen, i.e. a blank page of a word processing document.

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.
All of a sudden my 13" MacBook pro (2011) takes a long time to shut down. And on boot up it remains on a blank white screen where all I can do is move the mouse around. It may or may not boot to the desktop. At the moment I'm leaving it on sleep and it performs fine, apps load like normal but I'm afraid to shut it down incase it won't boot up again. The shut down takes so long that I need to hold the power button to shut it down. I've read around that it could be hardware failure but like I said I have it on sleep and it performs fine when I wake it.

My MacBook Air just started messing up yesterday and I'm not sure why? When I turn the power on, it will make the startup sound and go to the log in screen as it should but after my password is entered the screen goes white and it never loads.

My MacBook Pro is turning on to startup screen with apple icon and loading signal, but then after a few minutes the screen just turns white. What is wrong?

From time to time, now, on my recently-acquired 2008 2.8x8 Mac Pro, it'll boot to a blank white screen, no Apple logo, no spinning indicator. It does not have Boot Camp set up. A single press of the power button will turn it off and it'll boot fine the immediately subsequent try. The console doesn't show anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, a friend of mine is having issues with her new iMac (one generation back). Here is what she emailed me about the situation:
Heres what happens in greater detail. I quit or force quit all open applications. I press the ON/OFF button until the screen goes black. I wait several minutes and press the same button ON. I get the Apple cord sound and a blank white screen. The Apple icon does not come on; nothing happens. Thats when I close it down again and disconnect it from the back and reconnect it (a few seconds). Then I press the O/F button and the Apple cord sound AND the Apple icon come back, the system revs back up. All all is well except for the ball coming back...
A small (about 1 inch square) blank, white box has appeared at top left-hand corner of my screen. Nothing seems to shift or remove it - cursor doesn't seem to recognise or register on it. I first noticed it soon after I'd had to re-start the Mac (it failed to 'fire up' as usual the other morning), but I can't remember exactly what I was doing when I first saw it.

So, I have a new MBP. I bought a 500gb drive to swap out with the 250gb drive. I did make a time machine backup, I have formatted the 500gb drive to be bootable etc.
However, I was hoping to do a fresh install and pick and choose what I moved over from Time Machine. So with the blank drive in the MBP, I have tried 2 different OS X discs. 1 that came with the MBP, and the upgrade disc I bought for my MacBook (in case the discs somehow behave differently)
Holding down C on restart does nothing in most cases. Holding down Option tends to get my pointer on screen allowing me to select the DVD, then it goes off and sounds like the DVD is seeking/running, and the screen alternates from it's blue and black, like its doing reboots without loading. That has gone on for a long time with no new messages/errors/status/reason for me to believe anything is actually happening.
My question is this....what am I not doing right, or what can I do different, so that a blank HDD can load Leopard? I'd rather not clone or load off of time machine, just never loved the image I have, wanted a fresh start.
My problem is taht when i installed windows xp, which im thinking is SP1 cuz its so old, i think i partioned mac os x and now when i try to turn on my MBP all that happens is a white screen. and if i press option key no hardrives or systems show up even Mac OS X please im stuck:/. Also windows xp or mac os x is not loading up so im stuck on a white blank screen

I'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.

So for the first time in over a year since I purchased it, my iMac crashed twice. The first time was this morning, i went to do something and the screen went black, and my secondary display got black and white lines. I had to restart. And the boot screen with the apple logo hung around for a while.
Then, later on the screen went whacky after trying to wake it from sleep (not full sleep just display sleep) and had a bunch of moving lines and then I couldn't see anything. So luckily I got a picture. After restart, it seems fine.I'll call apple care in the morning, but thought i'd try my luck here.
My screen had black and white vertical lines pop up over the entire screen then went blank and now at a restart the password then loading spinning circle happens then I get a blank white screen. It's a 27 in Intel iMac that is about 2011/12 purchase

So my 20" 2.4 Imac crashed on me twice tonight. A box popped up telling me to hold down the restart button for several seconds to restat. The second time I did this it just sits with a white screen and give three loud beeps over and over. Is there a fix for this? Is it my ram? I'm at a loss.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to re-install the OS on a MacBook Pro that i'm selling so as to erase all my data from it, however the Install Disc will not start up to run the Installer. I load it, press install, it says it has to Restart, i click ok and it then begins to restart but then just stops at a white screen. The disc drive goes quiet as well. I've tried just starting and holding C down as well. Same result.Â
Just wondering if anyone knows a way around this? Or is it probably a dodgy disc? It seems to be fine until it tries to start up from the disc.
I'm on a MAC OS X latest everything, updates, flash, java etc., currently using the latest version of Firefox. I'm trying to work a MiniClip game [URL] and all I seem to get is a blank white box (when I right click I get a "Movie not Loaded" thing).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've returned from work and Safari wont load (kids may have done something, they say not).
Home page wont load just a white blank page then the error message the application Safari quite unexpectedly Mac OS X and other apps are not affected.
It doesn't matter if I relaunch, report or close / restart it happens again. I don't have Firefox any more so I cant try that.
I have a MacBook and lately, every time I insert a blank disc, it spits the disc out. I can hear the drive working for a couple of seconds then the disc comes out. The same thing happens when I insert burned disc. I didn't encounter any problem whenever I insert original discs (audio or films). I need to burn a lot of files.
x's:
I've been using the same blanc discs but the problem only came 2 weeks back. Before I can use -/+ r/rw disc with no problems at all. I doubt that it has to do with the discs type
When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
I have a Powerbook G4. Every time I insert a movie into my drive lately, instead of opening into DVD player (like it used to) I have been getting a message that asks me what I would like to do with the blank DVD.

I have Sims Medieval on DVD disc. Yesterday, when I inserted it into my Mac, it said the disc was blank. I have played the game on my Mac before, though I do not think I have tried to play it since I upgraded to Mavericks in March this year. I last had Snow Leopard, and it worked fine.Â
I did put the disc into a Windows machine today and it recognised that it was a Sims game (dual OS disc) and showed me the files.Â
I have never run into this type of problem before, and I don't own any other software on disc that runs on only Mac or both Mac and Windows so I can see if it is just this program.Â
I have found one thread on a website where people have had the same problem, but no one has a solution and they're all moaning about EA not fixing it, when the game came out in 2011 and so I think the problem is with Mavericks, not EA.

I inserted a blank disk earlier today. Automatically a hazard icon appeared where the eject icon should be. Now the disk wont come out and there is no obvious way to remove it.
