After it bounces in the dock, It takes an additional 30 seconds for the window to open. I haven't done any updates or added any add-ons in the past few weeks, but this just started about a week ago.
View 6 RepliesIs this normal? I've tried changing the number of cores to use at startup as 2 and its a second faster....a second! Anyway, is it normal for it to take 1 minute 45 to start up? I didn't seem to take that long before but its suddenly started doing it.
EDIT: Just to point out, its the 2.53ghz, 4gb macbook pro with 250gb HDD
I seem to recall that up until the last several updates it used to be OK, but ever since it takes around 30 seconds or more for firefox to quit.
Even when I clear out caches, it still does it. I have no idea. I mean, Safari quit immediately, as does pretty much everything else. No biggie, just annoying.
Any ideas besides firefox sucks?
Up graded to Lion last week. Everything fine until today. Opening apps takes 30 to 45 secs. Clicking anything on menu bar takes the same time. Everything is so slow I can't hardly use the machine. This happened to me about 10 days ago when I was running 10.6.8 which is why I formatted a new boot disc & installed Lion. Now it's happening again after a week of using Lion. Can I supply any logs to help an expert diagnose my problem & if so which ones? Meanwhile I will try safe boot & another account & report back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased 13" Macbook Pro (late 2011). I have high expectations with my machine because it has i5 processor. However, a few days into using it I noticed that it would take about 5-7seconds before something I click would open. I mostly have 3-5 apps open, Twitter, Menu tab for facebook, safari, then I would click another another app and it would take a while for that app to open and it is quite annoying. Is this normal?

Just happening within the last couple weeks... 2.9GHz i5 iMac running 10.9.3..Energy Saver settings set to default from day 1..Display is set to turn off after 10 minutes, put hard disks to sleep when possible, and wake for network access.The screen used to pop right back on after hitting the keyboard or moving the bluetooth mouse... Now it still sometimes comes right back and other times take up to 15 seconds. Just happening the last 2-3 weeks.

Don't know whats going on but since about a month it takes about 30+ seconds between the moment i start Firefox and the moment it display my homepage (the browser window appear but stay blank all the time). Once it's started though it's all fine. Safari in comparison starts in a couple of seconds. I have tried vaious firewall settings but it doesn't seems to help. The only plug-in i have installed is Flip4Mac. My computer is the 2.0GHz aluminium MacBook.

Our 2011 iMac with SSD takes 2:15 (two minutes and fifteen seconds) to start up. Start up on a SSD should be faster. OS X version 10.7.4 and applications are on the SSD. Any suggestions for correcting this lack of speedy start up?

How long does it take to load your guys' firefox on the unibody? For some reason mine takes around EIGHT bounces. I think somethings wrong. This is after doing a clean up w/ onyx too. But even before cleanup, its been around 8 bounces... on my white imac, safari takes only 2 bounces from a fresh load up. Why, could this have to do with anything with the graphics drivers? My HD is half full and I have 2 gb of ram.

It's not a big deal, but it's annoying at times - especially when I'm rushing in between clients. I'd like to be able to just quit and close and off I go. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a strange issue with my PowerMac dual 1.8GhZ and I can't figure out where it's coming from.Last Saturday I experienced a Kernell Panic while using Safari and the Dictionary (MacOS 10.5.1).Since then, whenever I try to start my computer, it shuts itself down while the grey screen with the Apple logo is on screen. However, this isn't always the case:I can use my computer 'normally' if I press the option key at start-up and manually choose my startup disk.
I can boot from a Panther or Tiger installation disk, but not Leopard.If I try the hardware test the computer shuts itself down in the middle of the test.TechTool works and didn't find any issues with my computer. Nor did Disk Utility.I tried to erase both my internal hard-drives and do a clean install of Tiger, but the problem is still there (I have to press option at startup).I tried to reset the PRAM and Cuda/PMA. My Mac Pro takes two minutes to start up. It is also sluggish during normal operation. I have Parallels and a external hard drive installed. Do either of these contribute to this problem? Or is there a program that can be used to defrag the hard drive. (I recall having similar problems with my IBM computer. When it was defragged the performance of the unit improved).

Only an issue in OS.X not OS.9. Pulling the power cord eliminates issue for next start but not subsequent starts. Pulling the cord isn't easy how the computer etc is set up so I'd like to rectify the issue.

I am trying to repair a macbook pro for a friend, I think it's the logic board, but I wanted to check with you all before I go buy one. When the battery is fully charged, I press the power button, I hear the hard drive spin for about 5 seconds then stop. The superdrive on it is broken so I can't try the restore disk. I ordered Pram, I am going to replace that. I tried two different hard drives and I know they are both good, I tried them in the macbook and through a usb port, and the same thing happened both times.

-Originally planned on mainly using Windows, so I partitioned the drive to 750gb for Windows and the rest for OSX
I eventually got fed-up with certain things about both Windows and certain limitations/glitches within Bootcamp itself and decided it was time to go OSX, and use the machine properly in all it's Apple glory.
I removed the 750gb of the Windows 7 partition, restoring the whole thing back to OSX. At this point, my computer seemed to be working fine still- OSX would boot up in about a minute or so, nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. After that, I still wanted a small partition with Windows 7; so I partitioned 100gb of my drive and proceeded to install Windows 7. During the Windows 7 installation, as had happened the first time I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp, I got the "Black Screen" issue. Only God know how much regret I have for installing Lion.
Lot of problems are there but major problems is startup time it takes 3 minutes to start. Leopart used to start in seconds. Battery life has been decreased.
How to decrease statup time? Is there probme with my Macbook Pro?

Two days ago i installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and since i did it, my mac runs very slowly. The pointer goes slowly and it takes a lot of time to load the programs (safari, word, etc.). It takes also longer time to start up my mac. I've checked on the activity monitor and the system activity amount is so high, around 80%. But what i've discovered is that when i plug in the charger, my mac suddenly runs faster and i've checked again the system activity is only around 1-2%. How can i make my mac runs faster even when i don't plug in the charger?
