Ive had my shiny new macbook for just over a week now and have been looking round for a screen protector to fit THE WHOLE screen, including the black outline around the screen, So after extensively looking through ebay and the likes, and buying one only to receive it with a bend right down the middle of it, ive found nothing up to now. where you can pick up a decent screen protector for this macbook

View 18 Replies View RelatedI just bought & wasted $20+ on the Photodon anti-glare protector for my 13" MBP. The speckling/rainbow effect on white pages just killed it for me even though the anti-glare was nice and the protector was well made. I've read that due to the extra glass panel between the display and the protector, it's hard to get a decent ant-glare shield.
The Moshi iVisor AG doesn't actually adhere to the glass and I may give it a shot next. Anyone have one? If so, how does it work? In theory, it should work better than the Photodon but would really like to hear from someone before I drop another $40 and wait with bated breath for the USPS guy again only to be let down.
I just bought my first macbook pro (15-inch) and want to keep it in good shape. Any suggestions on shells, cases, or stick on protectors that are good for use on this computer? I have seen the ones that apple sells such as the speck products, and there are also ones like invisiShield from Zagg.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for recommendations for a screen protector for a 15" Macbook Pro. I'm not looking for a cloth that goes over the keyboard, and I would prefer something that covers the WHOLE screen and maintains the clear gloss look.
I had a 1st generation MBP and didn't do anything to protect the screen and regretted it because the keys scuffed it up. I don't want to repeat that mistake.
Right now I'm just keeping the wrapping that came with the computer in between the screen and keyboard for when I close it and travel, but this isn't exactly a good solution.
Google and Amazon searches turned up exactly one that looked like it might work but I couldn't tell if it covered the whole screen (not jsut the lcd display area). Most of what turns up in search has pictures suggesting it is for the 1st gen. MBP and doesn't make mention specifically for the current models.
what should i used to clean the aluminum unibody, when it comes to the lcd screen i know alcohol and other solutions are bad for lcd because of the thin flim layer but the macbook pro has glass so it should'nt hurt the screen to use those kind of products.

My wife's aluminium MacBook bought six months ago has run cool until the last few days. Now when she leaves the machine alone and the screen saver comes on, the fan cranks up to 3800-4800 rpm. The screen saver hasn't changed, nor has anything else with the exception of the recent software updates. Does anyone know if the new Safari update (or the iLife updates) could cause this type of problem?

I honestly haven't tinkered with any Mac laptops once the unibodies came out, so I am hoping someone can shed some light, give some advice, and maybe throw out some ideas for repairs.
I'm interested in one but curious but does the mb have the screen flickering on the lower brightness level like on the 15" and 17" mbps?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought my aluminum imac when it was released in late 2007. I had a 1 gigabyte stick up until now, but I decided to upgrade to 2x2 gigabyte sticks. When I took out the 1 stick and placed the new ones in, my computer would sound like it turned on, but the system really did not boot up. I have tried many configurations to see what the problem with the RAM is, and all I could figure out is that the computer will only boot up if the original 1 gig stick is in one slot. I checked both sticks with this, and they seem to register on my mac when I check the "About This Mac" section. Basically, I get a black screen if I use only a 2 gig stick, or both 2 gig sticks. I can have a maximum of 3 gigs so far, but I really would like all 4 that I paid for. I'm not so sure that it's a problem with the ram, especially because it is recognized by the system, but it can't boot up the system, so I am simply dumbfounded. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? I just recently installed Snow Leopard prior to getting the RAM if that has any importance.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my MacBook has recently lost it's ability to output audio through the built-in speakers or another device. I'm quite frustrated as I watch and listen to tons of multimedia, and not being to hear a thing is quite sad. When I hit the volume up/down keys, all I get is the on screen audio level indicator and thats it. I've restarted a few times already, resetted the PRAM as well as the SMC and nothing improved. I want to try avoid taking it to the Genius Bar as I'm really not going to have the time to do so this week, and I believe there is a simpler solution.

I have an aluminum macbook and I just bought a monitor for it. I want to have the macbook closed on a vertical stand but I am concerned about heat problems. Does anyone use their macbook on the vertical stand most of the time and if so do you encounter any heat problems? and are there any stands out there that cool it as well so you don't have to worry about over heating?

From what I can tell from other threads is that the owc 8GB kit doesn't work is this correct? If it can handle 8GB of ram I will do that instead of 6GB.

Background info: I first thought this was just me being too fussy about minor details. I compared my brand new mbp with an older one from 2009 and definitely felt the difference between the aluminum of the lid. I went to several stores and they were surprised themselves about the textured aluminum lid. They first told me this was some kind of production fault and I should swap the macbook pro. Well, the next day after cloning my drive and bringing the macbook in for a swap they told me that they looked at other macbooks and they figured this texture thing seemed to be standard. To be honest - I didn't believe them because they couldn't show it to me hands on - so I went to another store where I found mid 2010 macbooks with a more smooth aluminum lid than the one I have.
Well all in all I am quite confused. I googled the hell out of this topic and only found one post confirming my issue - here I don't know if Apple has some kind of release doc for each charge of macbooks they produce, or maybe some tolerance level for the fabrication of the aluminum.
The backlight on my MacBook went out suddenly today, no idea why. Is there some way to replace it without having to replace the entire display assembly? It is very difficult to get the assembly apart, but I will be on break from school and will have plenty of free time to fix it if it will save me a few hundred bucks. So is it possible to replace the backlight only, or is it a part of the lcd panel?

I was told that the old MacBooks were fine as they had DVI output, while the new MacBook Pro has DVA output. I'm not really tuned into what this means, but I'm sure there must be an adapter out there that will allow me to make this connection.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a 2.4GHz Aluminium enclosure Macbook, and love it to bits. However, when running Windows XP Pro under Bootcamp, it seems like the CPU is underclocked. Both CPUz and CoreTemp report the CPU clock frequency as 1.6GHz, rather than the 2.4GHz it should be (multiplier at 6x, and FSB at 265 Hz). Is this a design decision? If so, why? If not, can I get into EFI to fix the speeds?
