MacBook Pro :: Using 85w Power Brick On Other

Apr 30, 2010

Iv'e noticed that the new MBP's now come with a 85w power supply last years model used a 60w. We have a few macbook pro's here and are constantly moving around our space and jacking into each others supplies. Will using a 60w on the new model or the 85w on the old model be detrimental to our machines.

MacBook Air :: How Big Is Power Brick For New 11"

Is it similar in size to the iPad one? I want the small air but I dont want to carry around a giant brick. Wouldn't it be nice if you could replace the USB cord on the iPhone quick charger with a MagSafe cord??

MacBook Pro :: Power Brick Dead - Charger No Light Lit Up On It

Jan 23, 2010

I went upstairs last night to find my Macbook Pro's charger had no light lit up on it. I tried everything including changing wall sockets, resetting the SMC, with and without the battery - nothing! I then noticed I could feel the electrical current on my Macbook Pro and then it started, a loud ticking coming from the brick. It's dead. It's just under 18 months old. Apple has said that I have no Applecare, no tech support and no warranty so buy a new one. I thought electronics HAD to have a 2-year warranty on them in Europe? Can I take that to apple? It's 60 for a new one and things like this shouldn't fail after just 17 months.

It's the old 85W type. The guy at Apple told me they only do the "new" 60W types. Can I use these with a June '08 Macbook Pro? I've had no end of problems with my MBP. I may call an end to Apple - I'm not happy paying over the odds for this Macbook less than 18 months ago for it to have had so many problems already.

MacBook Pro :: Got Brick Out Of The Box - Refuses To Turn On

Oct 25, 2009

Just bought my first mbp from apple store today and when I get home it refuses to turn on. I got a brick from apple store. Plugged the power in an let it rest for almost half an hour and still won't turn on. Going to apple store Tom morning to demand a replacement. Will apple do anything to compensate for the hassle that I went through?? And the customer satisfaction definitely went down.

I am trying to mount my MacBook upside down for use in the kitchen.  I need to be able to flip the screen upside down.  I have searched around and seen that many people suggest using the Alt/Option, Command Keys while clicking on Displays in System Preferences...this works on my new MacBook Pro but not on my older White MacBook 13 inch.  I currently have OS X 10.5.8 running.

Applications :: How To Use Flip Video And IMovie 09

Mar 4, 2009

I installed iLife 09, and just recently tried iMovie 09 for the first time. Pulled some videos off of my Flip and dragged them into iMovie as I did with the Flip videos and iMovie 08. It looks like it imports them fine, but then in the preview panel it says "No Matching Video, choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner". So i made sure that THAT menu says "All Clips" but still nothing is showing up.

I tried using quicktime pro to convert the avi files to mov files and still nothing is showing up. I dont know what I could be doing wrong but this is awful! I was so excited to have the new BETTER iMovie and I can't even use it for the only thing I want to use it for.

Software :: Should Flip 4Mac Play All WMV Files?

Oct 27, 2007

I made the switch from PC land to the Imac last week. I have downloaded Flip 4Mac (free version), Windows Media Player 9 and of course have QT on my puter. There is a passworded website I frequent that has clips in WMV format. Some of them open in QT as a wmv file, others just hang and nothing opens. If I try to open directly with WMV I can't even get it to find the URL.

Should Flip 4Mac play all WMV files? Do I need the pro version?? If not what should play the files. When I called the website they were clueless why some files play and others don't. It seems that their newer files play but not their older files, which really makes no sense at all.

MacBook Pro :: Important Things To Know When Upgrading RAM

Aug 29, 2010

I have the late 2008 MBP which has only 2gb of ram. I'm planning on upgrading the ram. With this, I'm just wondering if there is anything one has to know when doing this. Considering that I boot on both windows (bootcamp) and osx, would the ram be recognized immediately? Or do i have to install or do something first before it does. Is it more advisable to reformat the whole computer? Maybe because of some performance issues.

Software :: Trying To Listen To A Live Stream Through A Website Using Quicktime/flip 4 Mac?

Dec 2, 2006

Just wondering if you can help me. I am trying to listen to a live stream through a website using quicktime/flip 4 mac. It seems to work fine, it loads the audio stream, plays the audio and the 'play position' curser moves along, but the problem is, when the play position curser reaches the end of the bar, it goes right back to the beginning where it started...

Is this a common problem? If so, does anyone know how I can change it? I've tried it in Safari and in Firefox and they both appear to do the same thing.
