Mac screen resolution is getting higher and higher, which is nice, but the downside is that we seem to have lost "what you see is what you get." I have set the default document size of Text-Edit to about the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 document, which fits easily on the screen. I have what appears to be a single page of text. It all easily fits in the document window. The headline fits across the width of the page. But when I choose Print, the print preview shows that the text is going to spill out onto two sheets of paper.  I exit out of the print document and reduce the text size so that it all prints out on one sheet of paper. The problem is, the size of the text onscreen is now TINY! It looks like it's about 6 point while the printed text looks like it's about 12 point! No WYSIWYG!  When I revert the document to the way it was originally, where it was going to print out on two sheets of paper, and then hold my printed document up next to the screen, the printed size matches the onscreen size almost perfectly, even though, if printed out at this size, the text would spill out onto two pages and be huge. In other words, 18 point size text prints out at about 12 points and 12 pt text prints out at about 6pts, so there's about a 6pt difference in how text looks onscreen and how it prints out. Again, No WYSIWYG! My older Macs had much lower-resolution screens, but text printed out at about the same apparent size on screen. I know the original Macs had 72dpi screens so that they would closely match the printed size of text, and I like the fact that monitors keep getting better, but is there a way around this problem of printed text not matching the size of onscreen text?

Is there a way to increase the size of the displayed mail, as you are creating it? I have mine set to 12 point text, but it is still difficult to read. The e-mail when received is fine, it's the creating that's "tiny"?

I've been filming with a Flip Mino HD, but the camera has been on a mount, forcing me to film with it upside-down. The quality is great but having the files on my MBP, they're upside-down.
How can I flip them?
I'd love to be able to do this in iMovie if it is a possibility
I have an upside down video that I try to keep flipping. I bought QuickTime Pro and the movie will appear fixed however everytime I upload the video is still upside down.

I am trying to mount my MacBook upside down for use in the kitchen. I need to be able to flip the screen upside down. I have searched around and seen that many people suggest using the Alt/Option, Command Keys while clicking on Displays in System Preferences...this works on my new MacBook Pro but not on my older White MacBook 13 inch. I currently have OS X 10.5.8 running. Â

How does it connect to the MCP? is it fairly simple to edit videos? What do you use to edit your videos, does Imovie work well enough?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI installed iLife 09, and just recently tried iMovie 09 for the first time. Pulled some videos off of my Flip and dragged them into iMovie as I did with the Flip videos and iMovie 08. It looks like it imports them fine, but then in the preview panel it says "No Matching Video, choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner". So i made sure that THAT menu says "All Clips" but still nothing is showing up.
I tried using quicktime pro to convert the avi files to mov files and still nothing is showing up. I dont know what I could be doing wrong but this is awful! I was so excited to have the new BETTER iMovie and I can't even use it for the only thing I want to use it for.
I made the switch from PC land to the Imac last week. I have downloaded Flip 4Mac (free version), Windows Media Player 9 and of course have QT on my puter. There is a passworded website I frequent that has clips in WMV format. Some of them open in QT as a wmv file, others just hang and nothing opens. If I try to open directly with WMV I can't even get it to find the URL.
Should Flip 4Mac play all WMV files? Do I need the pro version?? If not what should play the files. When I called the website they were clueless why some files play and others don't. It seems that their newer files play but not their older files, which really makes no sense at all.
anyone notice those two flip things on the power brick? What do they do?

I was going to buy the retina, then due to inability to upgrade decided on the 2.3 GHZ 15". I then dropped in 16gigs of ram and now I am going to ddrop in a 750GB Seagate Momentus XT 2.5" 7200RPM / Solid State Hybrid SATA (Serial-ATA) Drive, This is one fast HD. Now I have one fast little ol mac with 16gigs ram as opposed to the recommended 8, a hybrid HD with a 8 gig ssd and my question is "how do I convert the internal HD that I am taking out, to be a great little external hd", what is the best either firewire 800 or usb 3 external case that I can place it in?Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if you can help me. I am trying to listen to a live stream through a website using quicktime/flip 4 mac. It seems to work fine, it loads the audio stream, plays the audio and the 'play position' curser moves along, but the problem is, when the play position curser reaches the end of the bar, it goes right back to the beginning where it started...
Is this a common problem? If so, does anyone know how I can change it? I've tried it in Safari and in Firefox and they both appear to do the same thing.
My iMovie is cutting all the videos i load from this flip camera I have in half. I have no idea why, because I loaded some videos from a different flip camera earlier in the year, and that worked fine.

I have some pics that I want to put titles into/onto. I am putting together a poster. The top of the poster has a picture. I want to put some text on top of/into the pic. What is a SIMPLE and EASY TO USE app where I can open the pic and type in the text and do some formatting? I do not want a 'template' app. The one's in pages don't work for this project. Oh, I want it to be able to use the fonts I have. A program that gives me limited fonts is NOT going to work. Â

I want to allow my Google group to fill info out on a Numbers form, but the Mac users evidently don't have Numbers. I sent it to them as a pdf file, but text can't be added to it as a pdf file. There has got to be a way. I tried using Tools - annotate - add text, but that didn't really work.
