Currently I have a 2009 macbook pro. I have it connected to my tv with a mini display port to vga i believe. currently it does not let me play HD content from my itunes to my TV, theres some message that pops up that wont let me. Anyways, i was wondering if i had the mini display port to HDMI, then ran that to my LCD, will that work to play HD content from my Itunes on my macbook to my tv?
View 9 RepliesI have a relatively new 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 MacBook Air, purchased in August of last year. Just recently it started giving me the HDCP error when I tried to play HD TV shows downloaded from iTunes. Given the capability of the display (1440 x 900) this shouldn't be a problem and like I said, I've never had this issue until very recently. I have tried downloading both 720p and 1080p versions of the videos and neither will play for more than a few seconds before the warning appears.
I am not plugging my MacBook Air into an external display. In fact, when I play the videos on my Apple TV v2 (both streaming from my machine and via iCloud directly) they play just fine. I have the lastest EFI firmware installed on my machine as well as all other software updates. I have checked to make sure there are not any partial downloads that could be causing a problem. The error also appears if I try to open the content with Quicktime.

I have a lot of 1080p videos on my Mac, and I can play them in every app but iTunes. iTunes says i cannot play the videos as I have a 1.86GHz CPU, which does not meet the requirements for playing 1080p HD videos in iTunes [URL]. The thing is is that I can play these videos in any other app (they are not protected files, as they are BluRay rips from my external BluRay drive).
My question is this: how can I get these videos to play on my Mac, and on my iPod touch as well?

I have read that you can use a 3.5mm jack to 3 RCA cable to watch video, but will the same work for just audio?

Do I just plug a 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA cable (red and white) into the the red and white outlets?

I have fluke to convert flac files to play in itunes. But since the new itunes updates I haven't been able to get them to play like audio tracks. For whatever reason, as soon as I click one to play it pulls up the video player although the video screen remains blank. Fluke worked on older itunes versions, is there a new issue I don't know? Anyway to fix?

Just a black video, no sound no nothing even in quicktime player but you can select chapters in itunes. Length and file size are what they should be. This is especially frustrating to me because I am using snow leopard and i have a new macbook pro 13inch so i don't see why they shouldn't be working. I have Perian installed if that makes a difference but I haven't uninstalled it yet just in case i don't have to.

Just got a brand new MacBook Pro 15" a week ago with the standard specs. I have noticed whenever I'm playing a video that's bought or downloaded from iTunes, a pixel on the up-left corner of the screen starts flashing between blue and black like crazy, at first I thought it was a physical defect, but when I stop playing videos the stuck pixel disappears. I ran a number of test and confirmed it wasn't the screen's problem. All the firmwares are up to date by the way.

I have a mac air version 10.9.3 running on mavericks and whenever I plug in my apple earphones, or any earphones with a mic and remote on the cable, itunes starts playing music without me touching anything. It plays music every time the contact plug of the earphones moves in the computer (like if I move the computer and the jack plug gets jiggled) and I don't know how to keep it from doing that. I tried quitting itunes but it didn't work.

I have a MacBook Air (Mid 2011), and the latest version of iTunes installed (10.6).In the last version of iTunes I had been unable to play HD content, which was a problem experienced by many people. I got round it by opening iTunes in 32bit mode, starting to play the HD file, and then going back into 64bit mode, and the content would work. When 10.6 stated that you could know play 1080 content, this excited me because I thought that my problem would be over! However, iTunes still won't play any of my HD content purchased from the iTunes Store! It just comes up with an error message saying that Quicktime is required to play this file and iTunes doesn't support Quicktime.

I was at work today and purchased an HD TV Show on my computer. The episode downloaded I watched it then I deleted it. The space is very limited on the work computers otherwise I would have kept it on there. I go home and tell iTunes to get my newest downloads, and it only downloads the Standard Definition version of the show I purchased.

To do so, I plugged in the external drive that is home to all our music, movies and tv shows. Now that the iMac is fixed, I set it back up as the server, plugging the iTunes drive into it and resetting AppleTV to work with it. Now to my question: All the content that had been on the iTunes external drive is now listed, but missing in iTunes. Obviously. Short of having to delete every file one at a time, is there any way to remove everything that is "missing" all at once? I'd like to only keep a few songs on my laptop, and keep the lists of what I have very tidy, hence the need to delete everything iTunes can't find.

After the most recent iTunes update (v12.0.1), all of my playlists are empty. The songs still exist in the iTunes library, and the playlists themselves are still there. I'd hate to have to manually rebuild all of these.

I have a couple of TB of movies and music that I had on an internal drive in the Mac Pro that I used to stream to an Apple TV in another room. Since I am losing all of the drive bays I had with my Mac Pro, I am looking at external drives to use on the iMac. I was wondering how a USB drive would handle streaming movies and music. That is about the only thing that would be on the disk. Would it be fast enough? Or would it stutter? Or should I bite the bullet and go for a fire wire drive? I have a USB enclosure that I can use for it and when my Mac comes I can obviously try it, but was wondering if anyone was doing something similar.

With small playlists (100 songs or so), I just select all songs in the playlist (CMD+A) and drag them into a folder, and that's that. But with a playlist with about 20GB of music, this doesn't seem to work. It seems like it's starting to copy all the files, but about a minute later, it just aborts the action without an error message of any kind. Does anybody know how I can accomplish this?
