I have fluke to convert flac files to play in itunes. But since the new itunes updates I haven't been able to get them to play like audio tracks. For whatever reason, as soon as I click one to play it pulls up the video player although the video screen remains blank. Fluke worked on older itunes versions, is there a new issue I don't know? Anyway to fix?
View 2 RepliesI also have a $10,000+ stereo system, using a Linn Digital Streamer. My entire music collection is in FLAC, much of it in 24-bit, 192khz. I'd love to buy the new MacBook Pro and use iTunes to manage this collection (as FLAC is the accepted standard for downloadable hi-res music). Unfortunately there STILL isn't FLAC support in iTunes. Looks like I'll have to purchase a Dell XPS instead.

In iTunes on OS Lion on an iMac, I started getting an error message that the "video needs QuickTIme and it is no longer supported by iTunes." What gives? The files are m4v and won't play even 5 minutes after I download them.Â
If I download them to my MacBook then access them through the shared media, they will play and become part of the library on the iMac. Seems like a lot of bother just to watch a video. Â
Anyone have a clue about what's going on?

I've had iTunes 10 on my PPC Mac crash twice in the past hour while playing SD video that worked fine in iTunes 9 here. The first time iTunes itself crashed. The 2nd time it caused a kernel panic. Has anyone else had any issues playing video with iTunes 10, particularly under Leopard or a PPC machine under Leopard? I'm about ready to go back to iTunes 9 at this rate.

I've got a few-months-old Mac mini hooked up to an older Apple Cinema display (model A1081). When I try to play a TV show purchased from iTunes that's in HD or HD-SD format, I get the following error (and no video): This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). Any way around this, or am I just stuck because this monitor is "old"?

I dragged a folder containing about 13 sub folders of complete albums into iTunes before I realized it was all flac and I can not find it anywhere on my Mac so I can convert it or use Fluke to allow iTunes to play flac. I have an uncompressed FLAC audio file that I want to add album art and lyrics to in iTunes. But when I go to get info, the album art and lyrics tab is gray and it won't let me click on it. I then tried to change the genre of the audio file. When I change it and then replay the song, the genre changes to it's original setting? How do I change this? I'm using a mac.

Just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina, refurbished (because why not - the same product for a cheaper price) around a month ago. It's the 13 inch and is the model before the most recent one came out (4GB of RAM instead of 8GB - late 2013). From the very first day, playing a full-screen video on any site (be it YouTube, Facebook, etc) just makes the fan much louder than usual (so loud that you can almost hear it more over the video itself). Thought it may have been just a thing with Flash Player being buggy, but the problem has persisted for a while now. I'm not even pushing the CPU to any limits - literally playing a full-screen video on Facebook (not even in HD) makes the fan go crazy.Â
Just last night I tried installing Borderlands 2 and it was the same thing - FPS rate was fine, no lag, just the fan was so loud that I actually got scared for my computer and turned it off. After closing the app and checking out the fan temperature, it was at 91c.Â
Never happens when browsing/surfing or doing my usual work.Â
Should I go give it back to Apple? The thing is I start university in less than a week (and hence will be traveling), so not sure if I can afford to give my laptop in to them for a long period of time (I know it should be free though since mine is a refurb item). May it just be an issue that is quickly repairable or is this worse?

View 18 Replies View RelatedOk, I've noticed this week that my 2010 13" MBP hangs a lot when it plays any videos I've bought off of itunes (it's fine with other videos). I mean anytime a itunes video pops up on my itunes player, the whole computer hangs (beachball of death and can't do anything). And it hangs for quite a bit (haven't timed it but a minute maybe?)
At first I thought it was the graphics card as the first time I realized what was causing my computer to randomly freeze up (it's been starting to do that this week but at first wasn't sure what cause itunes was in the background) it gave the wierd color bars on the video screen for the video it was playing (I have itunes play the video in the small box on the left bottom corner). Like the whole video screen was random fubar color bars and not the video (it took a minute and then eventually played fine after me reclicking the video). It has not done that since.
I played around with it and noticed it seems fine when I play videos I have not bought off of itunes but it reliabley hangs the whole computer when I try to play a video bought off of itunes. It eventually plays but it is really annoying particularly cause it holds up my whole computer until it resolves whatever issue it is.
So, hardware or software and any suggestions if it is software on how to fix it?
The GT 120s are killing me in a WinXP program that I use. I tried sticking in a GeForce 8800GT that I took from a windows machine. When you power on, a loud alarm goes off. Obviously, I turned it off. I was under the impression that I could use a different card. I know most pci's won't boot os x, but I thought I could use it just for Win. This alarm going off tells me otherwise. Weren't 8800 GT's available for Mac pros recently?

I have the latest Flip4Mac plugin and have no problems playing other .wmv files. The first time I played the file in QuickTime, as was directed to the Apple QuickTime components web site

I recently have gotten into video, such as downloading .mkv files from Vuze, and .mov and .avi files from various other places. Now that I will be purchasing a Mac mini I hope to watch movies from the iTunes Store. One of the things I hated about my Power Mac G4 500 is that it's slow processor could only play about 45 percent of the videos I had. The rest of the videos I tried either the audio and video would either out of sync, just sputter along, or refuse to play at all. Will the 2.0Ghz processor of the new Mac minis be sufficient for video, or do I need to go with the 2.26 Ghz processor offered in the "build-to-order" option?

I can only find it on youtube (in awful quality) and on a site called Adland - that one is better quality, but it only plays embedded into the site. Anyway when I play video now, clicking becomes really unresponsive.. on all paltforms (megavideo, youtube, mtv, bbc iplayer). if its just changing volume, or pausing, or playing.
