Applications :: ITunes Digital Copies - Not Playing On My Macbook Pro?
Jan 6, 2010
I've downloaded 3 digital copies so far and none of them are playing properly. Just a black video, no sound no nothing even in quicktime player but you can select chapters in itunes. Length and file size are what they should be. This is especially frustrating to me because I am using snow leopard and i have a new macbook pro 13inch so i don't see why they shouldn't be working. I have Perian installed if that makes a difference but I haven't uninstalled it yet just in case i don't have to.
digital copies have an expiration date (most of them anyway) & I really don't have much space on my computer to fit all the movies (I think I'm literally down to 3GB). So am I able to download the digital copy to my Mac, delete it from iTunes & the computer to free up the space & then re-download at a later date as long as I'm using the same iTunes login? Also, would this work if I got a new Mac & tried to re-download to that?
I have downloaded several digital copies of movies and would like to be able to move them to another iTunes account. What is the easiest way to do so? I'll actually be copying them so the movies can be synced to two different phones. (we don't have iCloud yet, using older phones)
Info:20" iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am just wondering if there was a specific reason why iTunes did not accept Ultra Violet copies from Paramount? I am talking about movies to be downloaded to iTunes.
I consolidated my iTunes library because some files were on an external and the rest on the computer and when I did this it made copys of most of the songs in my music folder. Also it didn't consolidate the whole library it still shows many songs on the external.
The actual iTunes library is right, just not all songs point to the computer hard drive.
I have about 100 gigs worth of duplicates that I have no idea how to delete besides doing them one by one. Any ideas on how to fix this?
This is how my iTunes folder looks for most albums.
So i have an ipod classic and quite a few songs on there. But i have a problem that occurs every time i sync, it will recopy and replace the same 109 songs every time i sync. They are not in any certain order, or playlist, they have not been recently added, or modified, or played, or had added artwork. Just every time i sync, even if i sync, unplug, then sync, they will copy all over again.
I'm in the process of converting my DVDs to MPEG for my AppleTV, so I've ripped and converted with handbrake, now I have an MPEG file on my desktop, when I drag that into itunes, it says "copying file" when it is finished, is it safe to delete the MPEG file on my desktop? i. e. does itunes actually create a copy so I have two of the same file? So is it safe to erase the one on my desktop?
Clicked itunes in dock the icon bobs up and down then nothing. the same thing happens with an album design software supplied by a local photo lab both were working perfectly last week. All other software is fine.I have verified and repaired permissions and disks several time and it say every thing is Ok. No goodI reinstalled both bits of software from new copies. No good.Reinstalled Snow Leopard and up dated as required. No good.Used 3rd party software called Permissions/Preference. No good
I've been wanting to create a digital archive of all my music. I want to accomplish two things 1. Put all my CDs in their original quality on my hard drive and regularly back it up. Hopefully, once this is done, I can discard all of my CDs or put them away in a hard to reach box, thereby reducing clutter. 2. Have all of my songs easily accessible via a iPod/iPhone/etc. I have only about 150 CDs. I'm a PC user, but am thinking about getting a Mac Book Pro. As of now, it looks like iTunes and Windows Media Player would let me accomplish #1, but since I want to get #2 as well, I've decided to use iTunes. But I have a ton of questions and am hoping to get get some answers. Right now, I just pop the CD into the drive, and get iTunes to Import the CD with the only changes to the default being that I ask it to import to WAV (which is not the default). However, I use the default WAV settings.
Am I doing the right thing with respect to importing for best quality? Why does iTunes offer additional configuration for importing to WAV files? There are settings for sampling rate and such, although I'm just using the defaults for those. Would there be any difference at all between a rip using Windows Media Player and a rip using iTunes? I have enabled error correction in the "import settings". Is there a way to tell if there were no errors, if an error was encountered and corrected, or if an uncorrectable error was encountered, while importing a CD? For many of the CDs that I've imported so far, Apple does not seem to have the artwork. Is there a recommended place to get artwork for iTunes and what would be the procedure for adding artwork? After I have imported a CD in WAV, how do I convert that to something smaller that I can then download to an iPod? Is it possible for iTunes to keep the song in multiple formats?
I did a back up recently to an external hard drive from my macbook, , however when l went back to my music on my mac and clicked on itunes to play a song, l got the following message.. The song could not be used because the orignal file could not be found. I have 7000 songs and can't play any of them.. Any idea as to what l did wrong or can anyone help in anyway. I'm new to mac, itunes and iphone.
I woke up this morning and used my apple remote to wake my MacBook, then hit play again to start iTunes playing. Nothing happened.
I verified that the sound was turned up, to maximum. And on closer inspection found that iTunes had started to play a song, but was making no progress in actually playing that song - the progress bar was stuck at 0:00 and skipping songs or scrubbing within a song makes no difference.
Restarting the application made no difference.
All of my music is 128kbps m4a and I also attempted to play m4v files, with a similar lack of success.
I am running iTunes 10.0 on OSX 10.6.4, and I have modified the .plist to restore the coloured icons, as well as using the terminal hack to restore the traffic lights to the correct orientation.
iTunes 10 is playing my .mp4 music, of whcih I rip from FLAC to .mp4 using Media Monkey, and now play in a window, blacking out my screen as if it were a movie. This didn't occur in any iTunes version before this (the songs played fine in iTunes as if it were an mp3 or aac files) and has been my setup for YEARS.
I've had iTunes 10 on my PPC Mac crash twice in the past hour while playing SD video that worked fine in iTunes 9 here. The first time iTunes itself crashed. The 2nd time it caused a kernel panic. Has anyone else had any issues playing video with iTunes 10, particularly under Leopard or a PPC machine under Leopard? I'm about ready to go back to iTunes 9 at this rate.
I imported several cd's and tracks into iTunes last night and there were no problems while importing. I was able to listen to my music in the iTunes library up until this evening. When I click on a song, a box pops up saying "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP addres and your network connections and try again." So I press "OK" and another box pops up saying "The song "(name)-(artist)" could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Would you like to locate it?" I click on "Yes" and see all my songs listed under iTunes/music but all of the songs I have listed in the library are gray and I cannot click on them. I have checked that I am connected to my home network/internet because I am able to share/listen to my iTunes library located on my Windows desktop as well as browse the internet. The only other thing I could think of doing was downloading the new iTunes 8 which I did, and nothing has changed.
iTunes has been crashing for months when playing CDs (but it's fine for DVDs and the audio files on iTunes). ppc G5 iMac, 10.5.8. Twice on inserting a CD, again when the CD concludes, and often during playing, or when I try to adjust volume. It did this with a LaCie external drive and now that I've installed a new replacement Toshiba internal superdrive it still does exactly the same thing. After reading about the many bugs with v9.0.1 I obtained v8.0.2, deleted everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled the older version. However, the crashes continue unabated. Have run Disk Warrior, Tech Tools Pro5, reset the hardware pulling the AC plug etc., run Permissions over and over, thrown out prefs files, etc. No improvement. AppleCare on iMac is expired and no other forum has helped. Couldn't find another ap just to play CDs or I would use it! QuickTime doesn't work.
It doesn't matter what I do- It's not the iTunes dashboard widget because I removed it, I turned off the iTunes helper app so it doesn't start up with the computer, and it keeps opening up and playing music for no reason.
iTunes doesn't seem to play WMA streams. I saw some info on the net about saving the stream in Quicktime as a .mov and then dragging the file to the iTunes library, but trying to save the stream in Quicktime just produces a 'Saving' progress bar which progresses at a glacial pace - I think it would never actually finish. Another method mentioned using Flip4Mac but it may be referring to an earlier version as the Preferences panel is different to that mentioned in the instructions (which are a few years old).
So, are there any other ways around this? I'd like to be able to drag the streams into my 'various Radio stations' folder so I can treat it like an mp3 stream.
iTunes 9, for windows, is acting strange. It is keeping place of every song I listen to, like a bookmark. I have scoured the settings, and can't find how to change this. How can I make iTunes play all my songs from the beginning?
I have an iMac and MacBook pro. I have my library on both machines. Keeping it current is a topic for another thread. But what I was wondering is... Is there a way to have both playing the same song simultaneously? I want to have both machines playing so I can keep my iMac in the basement, then bring my MBP upstairs with me. What if I access my iMac's library from my MBP via iTunes shared library? Or something like that?? Thoughts??
[By the way, I searched for hours and didnt see anything quite like this. I noticed other posts about keeping libraries synced but nothing about playing in both.]
I've searched I've found out that iTunes not playing some MP3s it's some king of ID3-TAG-or-sth-like-that issue, so I downloaded "MP3 Validator for Mac OS X" (http://triq.net/mac/mp3-validator-mac-os-x) And it fixes some of my songs, but not all. It says "unknown format" for some MP3.
I've been stumped lately as to what in the world is playing a strange sound that i think is a product of Genius. It happens when I:
- Navigate to the iTunes store - Click on any links in the itunes store, search, account, etc - when the Genius side bar is out, and tracks change while playing from my Music.
I have gotten it to stop the incessant noise making when tracks change by turning it off and hiding the side bar; but it still makes the noise when i click playlists, my iphone or ipod, other directories, etc.
When I went to BestBuy, the Apple section of the store had an iMac, that would announce the name of the song before it played. I asked the Apple rep there and he didn't know how it did that, he told me it came with the computer. How would I make iTunes do that?
Is there any way to have 2 copies of itunes running at once so that I can have different music playing through my airport express then I have playing through my computer? I'm running Leopard if that makes a difference.
When I select any song from this one, specific album in my library, iTunes will hesitate for a second, and the Quicktime-esque player window will automatically appear too. This happens only with this one album, and it's very frustrating. I will attach a screenshot of the problem. And also, if I go to close this player window, the song stops.
I never noticed this on my last hp laptop but my new dell almost everything in itunes plays with the audio out of sync with the video. most noticeable on podcasts. my dell is not high end but it has duel core amd 64 4400 chips 2 gigs of ram. running xp. it has a built in nvidia geforce 6150l video card with a built in sound card. it has done this since I got it a month ago. it is not an issue playing dvd's in windows media player. just itunes. any clues?
itunes has decided to go all wierd on me and started playing some of my songs but not playing others. When i try to play one that will not play i get the apple logo on the top of the screen where the amount of time your into the song is normally shown and no matter how many times i press play nothing happens.
Also the songs that won't play all are coming from the same folder and when i delete them and try to add them to the library nothing happens and they aren't added. When i try to play the songs from that folder using a program other than itunes the songs play fine.
