Apr 13, 2010I've been waiting for these Arrandale 15" MBPs since December '09, and in my excitement and haste I didn't assess all the options when I ordered my new laptop.I ordered the base 15" model with no changes to it, but I really need the high-res screen. 3 questions for you lovely people:1) Once I get the laptop, I could return it and change it for a one with the hi-res screen. How long does it usually take to return a Macbook Pro and get a new one back again?
2) If, once I recieve the laptop, I drove to my nearest Apple Store (about 60 miles away- I'm in UK), could I simply hand them my unopened laptop and ask for an exchange for one with a hi-res screen?
3) I noticed a hi-res, anti-glare option. Does anybody know if the anti-glare option still has that ugly grey surroun

Feb 28, 2012I have a MAC OSX 10.6.8. My images aren't always opening up and sometimes the pages openup in an outline fashion without all the images. Sometimes it doesn't open at all and I get a message that "safari can't open the page".......this has been happening a lot within the last week. What can I do to fix this?

Both companies revealed to The New York Times that they will create new digital readers and storefronts in addition to their existing applications for the iPhone and iPod touch. The App Store software will also compete with Apple's own iBooks application and accompanying iBookstore, which will also be available for download on the App Store rather than coming preinstalled on the device.
In particular, the Kindle application from Amazon was demonstrated to a Times reporter. It features the ability to slowly turn pages with fingers, much like Apple's own iBooks software. "It also presents two new ways for people to view their entire e-book collection, including one view where large images of book covers are set against a backdrop of a silhouetted figure reading under a tree," the report said. Oct 15, 2009I have a MacBook Pro and a MacPro both running 10.6.1. My Sony PRS600 is on its way so I can't test how well it works yet, but I have installed the Sony eReaderLibrary software on both machines. On the laptop it appears to be running OK. On my MacPro I double click on the app and it starts, but although it starts, no window appears and nothing works. If I click of anything in the menu bar - ie about, edit, file, view help etc absolutely nothing happens. I have Adobe Digital Editions on both machines and that works fine. The only difference is that I installed the Adobe software BEFORE the Sony on my MacPro and AFTER on my laptop.

Jul 18, 2005So, strange thing happened today - I got home from work, came downstairs to my mac, and clicked on Safari in the dock.
And nothing happened.
So I clicked again. Ahh... there was the reassuring bounce from the dock. Until it stopped bouncing without opening.
For some reason or another, Safari will no longer start running on my computer! I reparied permissions, trashed the prefs, etc - to no avail. It's not working on other accounts on this computer either.
Any ideas on what to do? Btw, for what it's worth, I can access the iTMS just fine through iTunes... don't know if that will help diagnose the problem or not...

Jun 13, 2010I want to add a file to the Desktop, and I want to open it with a specific text editor (emacs) whenever I click on it. So far, I made that file, copied it into the Desktop directory, and I tried to set the application which opens it via a right-click "Open-with" menu item. But when I try to select executable for that file (again, emacs), that application is greyed out and I can't set that application to open it.
So, how can I do it. When I click on the file, I want a window to be opened with emacs running and editing that file.

i think this problem occured when i clicked force quit on finder and now i cannot retrieve finder. i am not a computer person so i don't know all the mac slang. any suggestions?

I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.

for example, if i am using safari and decide to open itunes the two doesn't overlap. And i want them to overlap. its annoying when im on aim and skype and i have to click the icon every time when someone talks to me. But i can make the applications open overlapping "holding alt/option key and clicking the application at the same time". but this is really annoying.
