The track pad is not responding as it should, arrow moves on its own at times and when clicked it does not respond or click where it should. Have tried restarting it and it will work fine for a min or so then go back to being inaccurate.

MacBook Pro 3.1, with GeForce 8600M GT (128MB) DVI Socket.I've connected a new AOC i2353Fh LED Monitor using a DVI to HDMI Cable, the screen is detected and I have had it working fine.Initially I had it running at 1080p FullHD and it looked great.Using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I could close the laptops lid and just use the external screen.After a few hours running like this, the screen went blank and I had to go back to the Laptops LCD.Now I can't seem to get the MacBook to output to the AOC screen, it's still detected fine, but I get no display.I have confirmed the screen is OK, by connecting to a windows PC and trying both HDMI inputs at full HD 1080p. These were both fine.How do I get the MacBook work correctly with my screen, then use it as my only screen?

I bought a dvi > hdmi cable to connect my air to the hdmi port of a samsung 46inch tv. The picture is perfect at 1600x1200, but when i select 1920x1080 it looks really bad, sorta like 16bit colors. When I use a vga cable it looks fine at 1920x1080. So what am i doing wrong? or has it something to do with the dvi > hdmi cable i bought?

Most of the time, I can't get past the gray startup screen, but if I'm able to type in a password, it just timeouts and eventually turns off.I thought about re-installing OSX, only to find that the Superdrive I never use has somehow sunk into the case. I try to put a CD in, but unless I angle it, it hits some sort of barrier. If I angle a CD into it, I can push firmly to get the CD in, but it sounds like it would do damage.

I installed Migration Assistant on my PC and am trying to transfer my itunes to my MBA. My Mac gets to the screen where the validation code can be seen, but the screen on my PC says that it's waiting for my mac to get online, or waiting to find it. I am trying to install windows 7 using bootcamp. I have a windows 7 premium 64 bit iOS, an intel MacBook air 128 ssd drive, and a 16gb Kingston108. I used bootcamp put windows on the flashdrive with the updates and drivers. Partitioned the hard drive (20 gb for windows). Then it restarted the Mac, it kind of sat on the grey startup for a minute then went to a black screen that said non-system disk press any key to reboot. I pressed any key, it didn't reboot, I pushed every key, it didn't reboot. I then held the power button down to force the shutdown. I restarted and same issue. I then option held and booted into Mac os and re did the whole process and same issue.

I just got a 15" MBP and would like to hook it up to a 24" Dell Ultrasharp I inherited. However, I know nothing about the button settings on the monitor.
When I connect the two, the MBP background shows up on the Dell monitor but the icons that run along the bottom of the MBP screen are cut off. I'm assuming I need to change the monitor settings but don't know what I'm doing.
So I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this. My finder is no longer displaying my free space correctly. Whenever I remove files, it is stuck at 5.85 GB, even after dumping several gigs of files. I have an Early 2008 MacBook running Snow Leopard and my disk has been repaired and verrfied.

1. Incredibly flaky wireless. Safari won't even use WiFi correctly, Firefox works 90% of the time, but sometimes it just kicks my WiFi off. Same with Windows XP in VMWare.3. Above all, I'll be in the middle of doing a project, AND IT WILL DEMAND I TURN IT OFF? Why!? Why would I want to turn it off? It makes me for god's sakes, and I lose whatever I was doing. See the picture attached below, it's happened half a dozen time in five days, and no way to stop it.

It seems to install ok without any messages popping up but once installed where I get the chosen options onto the menu bar I have a problem. When I click on say CPU or any of the others, a window shows the details but when I then click in that window, at the bottom on EDIT I get a message saying: Tried uninstalling iSta menus and reinstalling but no go.

i have a macbook pro 13 inch 5,5. 2010 model about 2 days ago i started noticing some odd behaviour on my mbp trrackpad. the tap works fine but the click doesn't.would also like to state that my laptops battery had a health of over 90% suddenly dropped to 78 and then to 67. charging cycles=280. what can i do to bring it back up. are these two related (trackpad and battery one over the other) is there a fix?

I'm in a position where I have no way of clicking, this brings up a ridiculous problem I never thought I'd encounter whereby I can't even back up or fix the problem.

I am working the the text will turn yellow with a dictionary term pop up. If using the track the cursor keeps going or goes to another place on computer. It is worse on internet use. I keep restarting the computer. I have run a full virus scan. I tired using a mouse instead of track pad.

Now that you have that info, onto the issue.
My track pad will work to move the pointer, but I cannot click on anything. If I shut down and restart my computer, I am able to use a usb mouse just fine. If I so much as touch the track pad the usb mouse will only move the pointer and not click anything. I will have to restart the computer to be able to use the mouse again.
I have tried a SMC and a PRAM reset and it did not work. I did check the track pad settings and those are all ok. I am not sure if there is a way to do the AHT without a disk. I did look into some .plist thing to, but was not able to find what they were talking about so I did not do that.
My sister just bought a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro?The built-in camera is "flickering," but it appears to only be happening in applications made by Apple, or at least ones preinstalled on the computer. The applications affected that I have tested are: iMovie, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and iChat. It's not really a "flicker," per se, but large horizontal chunks of the video will displace and often show up as green -- it all moves very rapidly -- very hard to explain, but it is definitely not normal behavior.
iChat takes the issue a step further: the camera preview in iChat Preferences shows nothing but a blank screen. The camera works flawlessly in Skype, and also in web browers thorugh Adobe Flash. So, I am very certain this is not a hardware issue. It also worked perfectly during the setup walkthrough when the computer was first turned on and it had her take a photo for her user account. I've tried resetting application preferences by deleting the preference files, resetting PRAM and SMC, shutting down/restarting the computer, and I've applied all possible Software Updates. System Information (formerly System Profiler) shows the camera under USB, so the computer is recognizing it. Finally, we called Apple and they said to reinstall OS X, which my sister just did. The problem's still there. It wasn't a "clean" install though, because all of her files and preferences were kept in-tact, so maybe that is why.

Alright, here goes my last two weeks. Two Sundays ago I was playing football with a couple friends. The game ended abruptly when I broke my leg and went to the hospital, but thats not the bad part. I was in the hospital for 6 hours and when I got home I found that someone had broken in and stolen my 32" Vizio flatscreen TV, xbox 360 elite, DVD player, and most importantly my 15" Macbook Pro. I called the police immediately and they came out and did the standard police thing, but as I've been in contact with them lately, they say they have no leads and I'm not going to get my stuff back, bottom line. Now I'm left with no computer to work with and worst of all, I know I'll never get the things back that were important to me on that computer. I had pictures on it from when I was 10 years old and I'll never see them again. I worked really hard to save the money to buy those things and they are all gone in an instant. I just can't believe it. I have no one else to turn to and I just don't know what else I can do. I'm getting married soon and I can't afford to go buy a new laptop, to be honest at this point that's all I care about as far as what was stolen. If anyone knows any way to track a laptop or xbox 360 it would be appreciated. I know its a long shot.
