I have a macbook operating on mac OS X version 10.5.8 processor 2.13 intel core duo, memory 4gb 667 mhz ddr2. Lately I have been experiencing programs crashes i.e. program not responding also sometimes when I try to access system preferences it does not respond, I have to force quit all the time.
View 4 RepliesSince day one, my laptop has been a little off. It would crash every once in a while for no reason, but it wasn't very often so I took no notice. Now it's just gotten worse with time and programs crash on a daily basis, and the entire laptop crashes on a weekly basis. I can't open a lot of programs, even ones that I have just downloaded right now for the first time. I gave it to the geniuses and they ran a few quick tests and said the OS and the ram seemed to be fine, so they wanted to keep it overnight to take another look. Two days later, they gave it back to me saying the ram is faulty. So I went home and reinstalled the original ram that came with it...but I still have the same problem. I'm wondering if the problem still could be the old ram and it just really messed up my laptop even though it's not in there anymore...?

Programs such as iTunes, EyeTV, Skype, PhotoBooth, etc just RANDOMLY stop responding. I always have to restart my Mac to get them to respond again. The programs work fine on a guest account.
This is my first Mac and this is my only problem with it please help. I don't want to return it to Apple it's worked so great.

I saw a question recently titled 'Safari not responding' which is a problem I have been experiencing. The following programs also are not responding: Help Viewer/Calculator/software update (checks but will not install)/printer setup. I followed the suggestions and booted off the Cd and ran the Repair Disk/Repair Permissions programs but this did not solve the problem. I tried downloading the 10.3.8 Combo Updater but the installer part does not respond (spinning wheel!). Is there anything else I can try? In the past I have found some of the updates to cause problems (especially QuickTime) and have tried deleting the related preferences file but this no longer corrects the problem.
I've been having problems with my programs crashing lately, and the message is always the same : Bad Access Kern Protection Failure. Often they crash as they're opening, and restarting them works, but sometimes they crash for no apparent reason while I'm using them. Affected programs are After Effects CS3, After Effects 7, Cinema 4D, Photoshop CS3, ITunes, even Safari and Mozilla Firefox. More or less all my programs.
I've run Disk Warrior, validated my fonts, removed programs that seemed to be problematic, trashed preferences, and the problem keeps occurring.
I've noticed other people on this site have posted the same problem but I can't see the responses.I'm on a Mac G5 with a Dual 2 Ghz Power PC Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Mac OS 10.4.11.
I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8GB of OCZ 1333 RAM and an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD. Running 10.6 fully updated and installed from scratch.I have been getting out of the blue crashes while the system is most of the times idle. Can it be the RAM? It's reported fine as 8GB 1333 DDR under the system info. The Intel SSD runs latest firmware.

My touch pad will only tap to click. It wont respond to a right click or left click when you actually press down on the pad. Any ideas what may be up? Macbook pro I7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright, so back in September I bought a battery for my 15" pre-unibody MBP on Ebay, because I didn't want to spend too much more on this computer before I bought a new one, and I knew I could find a genuine one for cheaper than what apple charges.
I found one with three cycles on it, genuine and not a mark on it to suggest damage or a fake, and it's been working great for the past 54 cycles.
Until today. Last week, I left my MBP unused (sleeping) until today because I've been so busy and have just used my Mac Pro, and now I come back to my macbook and it has zero juice, so I plug it in and use it for a while, but notice it says "Not Charging" and "Condition: Replace Now". I take a look at iStat which tells me it has 51 cycles and 0% health, and "nan% Charged"...I restart, take out the battery, put it in, to no avail. The status light on the battery does not blink or come up when the button is pressed, and of course, the computer instantly turns off if the magsafe is disconnected (which is green, not red)
Could this just be a really nice looking fake, or can I do something to revive it?
:edit: I just did some googling to find a couple Apple support docs about the issue, but none helped. I've tried waiting (its been on an hour now) as well as resetting the SMC.

2011 i7 Macbook Pro and have been using Lion since it came out. Only started having this problem in the past week.
Occasionally Finder will work. But most of the time it "crashes", or really just goes into a "Application Not Responding" state when I view it in activity monitor or right click the dock icon. Relaunching via force quit does nothing. Restarting sometimes fixes it but rarely and not for long.
Another thread suggested this string in terminal: rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist . It didn't work.

My MB Air keeps freezing up and telling me my programs aren't responding, especially in Firefox. The only way to resolve is to restart computer. I tried to add some memory but was told that I couldn't add memory to a MB air.

I tried plugging in a keyboard to try it, and it worked on that external keyboard, but my computer's built in keyboard still wouldn't work. I have a MacBook Pro. Sometimes my macbook might fall asleep while opened, and when I try to wake it up it doesn't respond.. I can see the backlight on the keyboard light up but the screen isn't responsive? My only solution when this happens, is to restart my MBP.

I type a word, and my fingers are faster than the display time. This is particularly noticeable when backspacing and correcting typos. anyone else experiencing this problem? I tried repairing the disk and permissions but I still can't get past the login screen. I know I can always reinstall leopard but there are a few files I haven't had the chance to backup. View 2 Replies View RelatedI read a few posts and articles before i ordered my new i7 MBP with HR matte display about some of the models sometimees froze all of a sudden, now it seems mine has this same issue.. 3 time now, since i got it on the 25th of May. 15 min ago i was sitting and responding to a thread on Facebook, then out of the blue, everything stops repsonding. System is running, mouse is frozen, nothing i can do but to hit the "big button" and restart the entire system. Loosing any work that i might be doing is actually the worst scenario since im a photographer.. Anyone experience these random freeze ups too ? And last but not least, what will Apple do a about it when i contact them in the morning?.. Replace it or let me cancel my purchase and if replaced, how long does that normally take? (Bought it through Apple Store).
