MacBook Pro :: Mac-keeper Was Not Deleted Successfully, Cannot Find The File
Jun 25, 2012
i have deleted the mackeeper before but i guess it wa not deleted successfully because of what is happening to my macbook now, but i cannot find the file or the app to delete it properly, how would i know or where should i locate the folder of this app.
Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.1)
I have downloaded an mp3 audiobook from my public library's online database that I would like to load to iTunes. When I double-clicked it to decompress it, all I got was a .cpgz file Double clicking the .cpgz file only created the file again. I downloaded other software such as Stuffit and Unarchiver, but got error messages that the file was not recognized or could not be opened with that program. I also tried to use Terminal and Archive utility, but no luck.
I am trying to delete an XLS file from a network drive and am getting a message that says the file cannot be deleted because it is in use.I can't see where it is in use and have tried to reboot the computer to no avail. I can delete other files but several XLS files are giving me this message.
I deleted the startup commands from the LaunchDaemon folder, restarted. Went back, FOLDER IS GONE!Downloaded Clamxav. It crashed. I deleted it. It had 400 plus items to remove! Console now says timers set, loops closed, target class NSA applications? Dropbox is being affected, HERE's WHAT'S COMING UP.

While copying files from my digital camera xD card onto my mini, the Card reader un-mounted itself and remounted its self several times, I have no idea why...Now I have a load of 0Kb files in the folder where I was copying to. I can delete these, but they come up with a "file in use" error message so I need to click for each file to be deleted... ~350 left I did try a restart thinking that may clear up any "pending" file transfers from the system to allow them to be deleted like a normal file
however, I never did find that one file I was originally searching for!
The program I was using ( Data Rescue 3 ) renamed all my .jpegs in its search of my deleted files. So when I searched for the one I wanted not only did it not come up, but I was searching through 40,000+ jpegs one by one. Didn't get too far before I gave that up.
Is this normal for a data recovery program? Since I deleted them, it deleted the file structure for it so it renames them?
And has anyone successfully restored a deleted item? Just wanna save a few jpegs, that I was attached to.
I've never backed up my HD in the 4+ years of owing a mac so thats out of the option unfortunately. Looks like I know what I'll as for for christmas. An external.
Today I accidently moved a project I'd been working on from my flash drive to my desktop, I already had a folder of the same name on my desktop and when I merged it, it overwrote the old file and my project is totally gone. Is there any way of undoing this or recovering my work.
My iTunes music files were stored on an external hard drive. But, unfortunately, the iTunes library file must have been on the laptop hard drive. Now, when I open iTunes music library and playlists are empty, despite my having 120GB of music on the connected hard drive.
Short of dragging and dropping all the music files into the iTunes window, is there any other way of "telling" iTunes where to find my music? I have tried "organize library" and nothing happens.
Was in the middle of installing adobe master collection and it froze. I restarted my machine but cant find the install file. I was using the assistant manager does this mean i need to download the whole thing again or is in in a cache memory folder? Some of the applications have installed and some are have not. What is the best way to clean this up? Do I delete all the files and start again? Is there a cache folder with a file i can click to continue the download?
Yesterday I restored my late 2008 macbook and set it up as a new mac running Yosemite 10.10.1. Everything went great except I can't find my user file that would have my music and photo file in it.
I am using the example code: sudo dd if=/path/to/downloaded.img of=/dev/rdiskN bs=1m with Terminal. The file is ubuntu.dmg but it claims "no such file or directory." How do I find the correct file name?
I have cookies blocked and pop ups blocked, but am still getting bombarded with pop ups, especially that most annoying mackeeper. How do I stop the insanity?
I've used the disk repair utility and repaired successfully. My book is still frozen at the logo and spinning cog. I have to hit the power button to shut down - And the hard drive gets super heated. What else to do?
I do a home photo editing business. One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it. When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it. It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro? I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.
relatively new mac user here - and was wondering if anyone could suggest a password keeper program that I could use across 3 formats - Mac 10.6, PC - Vista and the iphone. I keep them in an excel file today and would like to have something a bit easier to acces.
My Mac was running out of space and my utility showed me that the .sparsebundle file (in my username folder but a greyed-out one with a "dot" in front of it) was gigantic in size (around 100 GB). So I deleted it. I emptied the trash and everything appeared to be fine, until I logged out.
When I tried to log in with that user again it threw an error and I couldn't log in anymore. I then logged in with the Admin account (luckily I remembered) and that worked, but all my data from the previous user that iI was using appears to be gone!!
Is there anything I can do to get that data back? I'm very desperate, there are hundreds of very important files that are now gone.
