Today, I thought I would clear out some memory on my Mac Book Air. I had items in folders and dragged a number of items to Drop Box thinking this would free up space. I must have done something wrong as they items were not in the folders on Drop Box. When I returned to the documents left on my internal hard drive, the folders were intact but the documents in the folders were gone. The documents included keynote presentations, pages docs, numbers docs, and pdf docs.

Also, all of my iTunes stuff won't get deleted, will it?
I've changed the icon for my "documents" folder, but the change did not take effect on my "documents" icon in my dock. I removed it from the dock, and dragged the "documents" folder with the new icon into the dock, but it just shows a generic blue folder. I logged off, and logged back in, but I still only see a generic blue folder.

I completely deleted Google Chrome from my Macbook Pro because it was apparently still running even after I quit and force-quit it multiple times. I deleted the app using AppCleaner so no Chrome files still exist (supposedly), but the app is still running in my Dock.
I've tried re-installing Chrome, but it just creates another Chrome application and the blank white page icon is still there. I deleted the second Chrome and this one still remains.
I deleted the document folder on the dock and now i can't seem to get it back! how to do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI didn't put the my documents folder in the trash can and empty the trash. I accidentally took it off the dock, so I went into Macintosh HD in order to put it back on the dock. I went under the "my places" tab and clicked and dragged the my documents tab, but I accidentally let go of the icon before it got to the dock and it disappeared. It was showing the little crumbled up piece of paper icon before it disappeared. So I don't know how to get the my documents folder back. It isn't anywhere on my desktop and it isn't in the Macintosh HD under the "my places" tab. I also don't know how to access the documents that were in there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn Old Leopard, when I opened the Applications folder from the dock, my app icons were small enough that all of them were displayed at once. In Snow Leopard, the icons are much larger, and there's a scroll bar at the side. I liked the old way better. Any way to get it back, other than going back to 10.5?

i've been using liteicon and iconfinder.com to change my dock icons. for those who are familiar with using liteicon, im only able to change the finder, dashboard, trash empty/full, "url"??, and widget icons. these are easy to change with a simple dragging and dropping of the icon you want onto the icon you wish to change. but as for the other icons you may have put on your dock, im totally lost on. for an example, i've been trying to change my ichat icon, and ive read to click "get info" on the icon i chose to change it to, and click command + c, then go to the original ichat "get info" and click edit, then command + v (copy + paste obviously) and it's not working? i'm totally lost on how to change such icons that aren't listed in the liteicon application! the other question is how do i change the application/document/download icons on the dock? even through liteicon, i'm not able to change it. do i need a certain kind of file type?

Yesterday, while mousing around my iMac desktop, I accidentally deleted an app from my dock. It disappeared before I could see which app it was. TimeMachine, or any other way -- for me to determine which app I deleted? I looked at a TimeMachine backup, but couldn't find any way to view the dock in the backup.

While copying files from my digital camera xD card onto my mini, the Card reader un-mounted itself and remounted its self several times, I have no idea why...Now I have a load of 0Kb files in the folder where I was copying to. I can delete these, but they come up with a "file in use" error message so I need to click for each file to be deleted... ~350 left I did try a restart thinking that may clear up any "pending" file transfers from the system to allow them to be deleted like a normal file

however, I never did find that one file I was originally searching for!
The program I was using ( Data Rescue 3 ) renamed all my .jpegs in its search of my deleted files. So when I searched for the one I wanted not only did it not come up, but I was searching through 40,000+ jpegs one by one. Didn't get too far before I gave that up.
Is this normal for a data recovery program? Since I deleted them, it deleted the file structure for it so it renames them?
And has anyone successfully restored a deleted item? Just wanna save a few jpegs, that I was attached to.
I've never backed up my HD in the 4+ years of owing a mac so thats out of the option unfortunately. Looks like I know what I'll as for for christmas. An external.
