How to reboot my macbook air, because starting it up was not successful. The screen just turns blue after the apple logo appeared.

I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro that I bought in 2007. I have never had any problems with it. However, now it does not turn on! I press the "on" button and it sounds like it is starting up, but I do not hear the "characteristic ding" of the computer and the screen does not glow.

I start my Macbook Pro Retina Late-13' Microsoft excel and word always open, I thought this was to do with the login items but when I go to it only chrome helper is ticked and Excel and Word are not there. Is there a option in word/excel to turn this feature off?

Due to some unfortunate tampering with the circuits under the right command key on the built in keyboard, a lot of the keys and the power button are now effectively dead. I'be ordered a replacement top case, but was wondering if I could, in the meanwhile, somehow turn the laptop on. I'd prefer to do this without opening it up, though I could if that's the only way.
I read in another thread, can't find the link now, that disconnecting the battery, connecting mains, then connecting the battery would turn it on, but that doesn't seem to work for me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook pro (15" unibody, non-removable battery) will not turn on. The battery claims to be fully charged. The computer will not respond to the power button in any way. I had turned it on previously by draining the battery completely of any charge (draining power, then pressing and holding down power button for 60 seconds). When this occurred the computer booted up and ran fine. However, when I closed the lid, it turned off immediately, never to return. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the battery, or if it's a problem with the logic board.

This morning, I synced my iPod with my MacBook and upon completion and permission to disconnect the device, I pulled out the USB cord. At that point the computer instantly turned itself off, and when I hit the power button, I could hear the system trying to start up, but the screen remained black and the sleep light glowed continuously. I unplugged the charger, took out the battery and put it back in, and tried all the troubleshooting tips under the Apple Support guide with no success. I also discovered that when I closed the laptop while it was "on," it would seem to boot up a little more before returning to the black screen. I left it alone for a few hours, and when I tried again to turn it on, it booted up normally and as I was searching for updates, it shut down again as it had earlier.
Does anyone have anything for me to try? I don't want to have to take it into a shop because I can just barely afford to, but I need this computer! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-)
Just curious if you guys turn the feature off when you're connected to AC power..

my Macbook Pro is not powering up, Yesterday I connected a camera that has the USB cable with the little transformer. And the Computer suddenly turn off! It´s not working at all... I really don´t know what happened..These are some of the characteristics of the problem:
1) Not even the battery Light its on when I press the Power button.
2) Not even the Light in front of the Mac is on when I press the Power button.
3) There is not even a sound of the cooler fan or anything.
4) When I connect a the power cable the first 10 seconds the light of the cable is off... Then it appears a little "Orange intermittent" light but nothing more happens.

1.turn into black screen after running for about 15 mins, but the system is still running because the keyboard is still functional. After reboot, i record the log as below, it shows that it is a GPU Panic.
2. display would not turn on after pressing the power button but can still hear the apple start up chime and the system keep running with the screen off.
3. after erased the hard drive and re-installed Mavericks. Under a new installed system, it can run normally for about 1 day, after that especially after a shut down or restart, the problems above came back.
I am currently working in Thailand but I have no plan to go back to the US in a short period of time. I brought the laptop to the local apple service, they said it is certainly the logic board or GPU failure and the parts need to be replaced. The cost of the replacement is around half of the price that I paid for this laptop.

my brother is having a problem with his unibody MacBook that he bought just a few months ago. It won't start when the power button is pressed, the sleep indicator light turns on and that's all. There's no start up tune, and nothing appears on screen. I had a similar problem with my MacBook Pro. I was told that the logic board needed to be replaced due to too much dust or moisture. Could this be the same problem? and has anyone else here ever had the same problem?

Current status is...Cannot turn on, screen is dark. Blue light on power button stays on. Can't restart after holding it down...Red light inside box is on. Read that it might be air deflector trouble, but that's not it. Opened box removed plastic and returned it...another red light lit , then turned off. 1st red light stays on.
Before the above began, a restart would end up in a hang at the end of the progress bar. Ran Disk Util from Install CD which showed errors: "Volume Chk failed...HFS Volume needs repair". Ran FSCK whick said it fixed all. Ran Disk Warrior afterward b/c still would hang at startup. Says all now OK...but NOT! Have tried saving files thru Disk Warrior...but now, as per above, cannot get it to start up. Or turn off...
Would like to get it lit to save any additional files if drive is near the end...

besides leaving your computer on mute is there a way to turn off the startup noise on a mac? When i come late to class and want to bootup my computer, the apple startup noise draws attention to the fact that i am late and booting up my macbook.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, I was using my powermac (About 1-2 weeks ago) and I went on vacation. I came back and it won't turn on. Everything's plugged in, and the power buttons and lights on the mobo light up. I can hear the HD spin up, and begin to read. But, I don't get any video. I've read that it could be the battery and so i replaced it, but it still won't turn on. I've reset the CUDA, installed different RAM, took out expansion cards, but it still won't turn on. Also, when I press the power button it immediately shuts off, which it never used to do. I usually have to wait at least 3-4 seconds of holding it down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz from ebay. I tested the computer a couple of weeks ago when I first got it, but wasn't able to actually set it up with all of my music gear until last night. I installed Logic Studio and a driver for my firewire audio interface and started downloading all of the updates. While downloading the updates the computer just turned off. I wasn't in the room, but when I came back in it was totally off. I tried to turn it back on by using the power button in the front and it won't turn on. It clicks once then clicks again a few seconds later, but no light and no power. Everything else that is plugged into the same power strip turns on. I reset the PMU, and even the graphics card just to make sure. I still get nothing. I have exhausted apples support page, and I don't know what else to do.
