We are using iTunes for Mac with our library (songs as wells as libary files) stored a NAS drive. The NAS drive is used by iTunes and our wireless home audio system (Sonos).
Since yesterday we are no longer able to utilze iTunes. Upon starting iTunes the iTunes windows opens, but the application is not responding. We waited for hours, but iTunes is not repsonding. This is evident by the kaleidoscope and upon pressing optiom + command + esc we can see that iTunes is marked in red and it says ins brackets "not responding".

I have an iMac G5 that keeps freezing on me. It occurs more so when I use iTunes. The computer freezes and even the mouse turns off. I have to completely turn off and on the computer to get it working again. Could anyone tell me what it is? Virus?

I have just downloaded, and updated iTunes to 10.6.  Now I only get a beach ball in iTunes (which can only be force quit) when doing any kind of sync with the with 5th Gen Nano. I can no longer delete or add songs or movies. The Nano still works perfectly. Â
Is the 5th Gen Nano no longer supported by Apple?Â

Whenever I connect my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) to iTunes (10.6.3) on my Mac (OS 10.7.3) it always freezes, always for about 30 seconds and then it will work again. But let me note, this only happens on the first time I connect my iPhone for the first time I turn on my Mac. I'm not sure if that makes sense. So, when I turn on my Mac and I open iTunes and connect my iPhone, it will freezes but after 30 seconds it will work. But let's say I am done syncing my iPhone and I unplug it but a few minutes later I want to sync it again, if I connect it, it won't freeze. But let's say I restart or turn off my Mac, but after I open iTunes for the first time after I've booted and I connect my iPhone, it will freeze.I've had the same issue with my last iPhone so I know it's not isolated to my iPhone. I have deleted iTunes from the Terminal app and downloaded iTunes from the Apple website, but the issue will persist. Also, I don't have any podcasts synced on my iPhone. I've read that sometimes causes it. I ONLY have music and apps synced.

My problem is that suddenly since last week my Itunes freezes every time I try to connect my IPAD or my IPHONE it was working great but now I have this problem. I already completely remove Itunes and I already re-installed ver 11.2 and 11.2.1 but the problem is the same. I already tried to connect my devices to other computer (I have an IMac) and both devices were recognized without problems. I also restored my IPHONE to default settings but after that the problem is the same one. I would like to say that my devices are being recongnized without problems by my Macbook Pro, it also opens automatically Iphoto and I can get the pictures from my two devices so I know that it is not a problem with my Macbook or the USB ports.

I've been having a problem with iTunes that is driving me nuts. I'm not able to pinpoint exactly when it happened, but I think it was around the time v.8 came out.
iTunes freezes every time I start it up for around 7-8 minutes, then runs OK. This happens every time I start up, without fail.
It also freezes after (sometimes during) syncing with both my iPod Nano and iPhone 3G. It does this every time also, but it's inconsistent...sometimes it freezes during the sync, and sometimes it freezes afterward. Sometimes it takes me doing something like playing a song, but it always happens, regardless of whether I disconnect the device or leave it connected. It only does it after the initial sync; if I leave it connected and resync during the same connection it will not freeze again. The devices themselves are unaffected.
My iTunes library is 147gb. The actual library XML file is 69mb. I'd guess this has something to do with it, but if that is the case...what might be the cutoff size where this wouldn't happen any more? I used to have almost 350gb of stuff in iTunes...I've whittled it down this far and it still isn't helping!
I'm running the 1st gen MacBook Pro with 2gb RAM and a 320gb hard drive. I have approximately 30gb free on the drive, so I don't think hard drive space or RAM is the issue (although I have no way of knowing for sure).
Is there anyone else with libraries this size who are or aren't having the same problem? Can I do anything besides delete more music? And if so, how much do I need to delete? Can the XML file be optimized in any way?
ETA: I did the 8.2 update that came out today and it hasn't changed anything.
After upgrading to iTunes 10.6 (40) this week I am experiencing (very) frustrating freezes at the start of every new track in iTunes. The freeze affect the whole computer. Nothing happens (or can happen) at all except the song plays. the freeze lasts 15-20 seconds then everything is back to normal. I expect it may have to do with caching/buffering the new song.Â
I really, really hope this is fixed very soon. I am on a 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Power Mac with 12 GB RAM running Mac OS 10.7.3.Â

I am running iTunes 11.2.2 on Mac OS 10.9.3. I experience an issue with iTunes becoming unresponsive when either my iphone 5s (fully updated) and ipad 4th gen (fully updated) attempts to sync either wirelessly or with the cord. I have went through the apple trouble shooting and came up with no solution. I've also reinstalled iTunes with no luck. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an 08 Mac Pro with a stock apple raid card. 4 2TB WD Green drives make up the raid and I use it for my iTunes library and Aperture Library. I use the extra sata port for my 1 TB Hitachi boot drive which is the one I purchased my Mac Pro with. I have had this setup for nearly if not over a year with no trouble until the past week and a half. The raid utility shows that everything is fine. The battery is good, the raid partition is good, and even when I click through the individual drives in their respective bays it says SMART Verified Status Good. My trouble is this. Anytime I play a song or a tv show, or access files even without using iTunes the computer freezes. I can't click on anything, there is no spinning wheel and I have to manually restart it. When I do restart it the raid volume does not show up in the finder. But when I go to verify disk or repair disk in the disk utility it shows everything is fine. I have to rebuild the volume with diskwarrior and when I use any file off of the volume it freezes. I've replaced the drives and that hasn't helped. So I'm at a loss here.

View 11 Replies View RelatedFor the past couple of weeks we have had a problem with itunes causing the computer (an iMac running OS X 10.5.5) to freeze and we can't even do a forced quit, but must turn off the machine manually. This seems to happen specifically when we are in the itunes store, not just working with the playlist. The computer has also frozen when in safari - the last time when we were trying to copy a page into Word. We thought it might be a wireless connectivity problem, but I have switched to an ethernet connection and still have the same problem happening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've had this MacBook for about 4 years now. There has been recently(3 months ago) had problems with it, such as not being able to select things but that has been fixed by apple due to the swelling of the battery. Therefore it was fixed free of charge. I wanted to mention this just in case it could be relevant to the current problem it has. Recently, on my 2nd account (I have 2 on my macbook), everything suddenly froze and I could not move my mouse. I thought it was probably due to the lag of youtube and having more than 3 applications in use. Therefore, I restarted my computer and it automatically logged in on my 1st account(I set that on my log in settings). So everything works FINE on that account and moves smoothly(it also works fine on the log in screen), with no problems. I log into my second one again and the mouse is still stuck (although I can move it within the first 5 second span). I restart multiple times, the 1st account being fine, ONLY having problems with the second one.
Considering I have important files on the 2nd I decide to take a risk and change the log in settings to automatically log in as the 2nd account. I restarted the laptop and it logged into my 2nd account. And it worked. I was happy and tried to go onto my 1st account as well. Then I encountered the same problem. It seems the mouse only freezes (ONLY the mouse because the keyboard and power button works fine whenever I restart it) on the account that's log in settings are not set to automatic. I have important files on BOTH accounts, therefore deleting one is not a solution. This incident happened 2 months ago. I ignored it since it wasn't that big of a deal and my laptop is still working fine. But changing the log in settings every time I need to switch is rather aggravating, don't you think? Is there anyway I can fix this myself or do I have to bring this to Apple?
I was just sitting doing some homework, when my MacBook Pro suddenly froze. I was using the following programs:
Adobe Photoshop
Messenger for Mac 2011 Beta 6
Skype
Safari with like 3-4 tabs opened
iTunes playing a song
So suddenly the song stopped playing, and I couldn't move the cursor or anything. Everything was frozed, so I had to hold down the power button. Why does this happen, and is there anything I can do to prevent it?
I'm all out of possibilities, as far as I can think.I wound up with a Macbook Pro 2ghz Core Duo, and while I knowit's old as hell, I'd like to get it in proper working order, as I feel it still has a lot of life in it if I can get it to stop freezing. It freezes without rhyme or reason, there's no specific application, action, etc that the issue is confined to. It's anything at any time.
I've tried replacing the hard drive, there's an issue with the dvd drive so I just cloned the startup drive, I've repaired permissions, used 3rd party programs to wipe caches, verify and repair the hdd, even wipe and restore system and application settings. I just put new ram in it as well. I'm considering purchasing a new superdrive or external optical drive just to be able to run the hardware test or try a fresh install, but I hoped to obtain some insight prior to spending more money than I already have put into it. I've really put a lot of time into this, and as much as I'd like to take the ultimate solution and just buy a new mbp, that's not an option at the moment.
I own a macbook with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) operating system. The problem with my macbook is that when i shut it down freezes before it turns off. In order to fix the problem i repaired th disk permissions and i reinstalled the operating system but the same thing happens all the time.
