Safari :: YouTube Video Completely Locks Up Browser And Freezes
Mar 20, 2012It seems whenever I launch a youtube video, there is a tremendous lag that occurs for a good 30 seconds before my video is able to be seen. It completely locks up my browser and freezes. Thought it was my iMac at first, buy Firefox works fine. I reset everything on Safari and still nothing.

Jun 23, 2009I just read a thread on Undercover and it reminded me of a question I wanted to ask earlier this week.
I'm going to college in september and it seems as if a Kingston lock is not a good choice. There are a number of things on youtube including yanking the notebook, pulling on the lock itself and using cardboard to open the lock. This makes physical locks look bad. Would software be a good alternative? How about lojack for laptops? Apparently they'll get your laptop back regardless of where it ended up. If not, they'll give you a grand. Seems like it would be hard to do if it was chopped up like when a thief brings a car to a chop shop.

Software :: ITunes Locks Up MacBook Pro
Apr 6, 2008After a couple minutes browsing in my iTunes 7.6.2 music library (about 10,000 titles), by clicking the CD covers' artwork in Cover Flow, my whole Mac (17" MacBook Pro; OSX.5.2) locks up. Completely frozen. Force Quit doesn't work, and the only way out that I know is a hard restart. I've had this happen about a dozen times already in maybe the last 4 weeks.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Work / Freezes And Not Playing HD Podcasts
Jul 16, 2009Having watched a couple of Revision 3's podcasts (Tekzilla and HD Nation), at about 20 minutes into it, my MBP freezes for maybe 10 seconds, then the video continues to play, but not in the same place where it left off. Movies purchased from the iTunes store (standard def) play fine with no problems, and the HD podcasts play fine, with the exception of the freeze. Niot had any other issues with the MBP.
I'm using the 9600M GT card, so I'm not sure why it's freezing.

Apr 21, 2010So macrumors peeps, as the title reads, whenever i open a web browser and go to either espn or youtube or anything that flash associates itself with, the windows hangs or freezes and the beachball cursor comes up forcing me to force quit. I am currently using a Macbook 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5. Also i have restarted my macbook, updated it completely, tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Plug-in, done the disk utility repair disk (even though idk if i did it right) and i have been surfing the web for two days to find a solution.

Apr 30, 2012My laptop has been having problems track pad doesn't always work, runs slow, freezes. I replaced the hard drive on advice and that didn't help. I went to disk utility and verify and repaired disk permissions, that didn't help. I went to the erase tab and I clicked on "erase free space" thinking that would "defragment" free space, like a PC has.Now all my available memory is gone.I thought I was freeing up space. Now my apps don't work correctly and I can't reinstall because I don't have enough disk space.

Apr 29, 2012We are using iTunes for Mac with our library (songs as wells as libary files) stored a NAS drive. The NAS drive is used by iTunes and our wireless home audio system (Sonos).
Since yesterday we are no longer able to utilze iTunes. Upon starting iTunes the iTunes windows opens, but the application is not responding. We waited for hours, but iTunes is not repsonding. This is evident by the kaleidoscope and upon pressing optiom + command + esc we can see that iTunes is marked in red and it says ins brackets "not responding".

OS X :: Locks In MAC Applications?
Apr 20, 2009I have recently bought a mac and I'm really proud of it. I was going through the list of applications available for mac and happened to bump into iConquer. It's a pretty addictive game and I liked it. But I can't pay for it. So, I was hoping I could keep reinstalling once I'm out of the 10 free uses and keep playing. Now, this according to some was not possible( as I read this in the forums ). It seems that even after uninstalling the application and then reinstallaing it, it remembers that 10 uses are over. How is this possible? This would mean there is some sort of file left behind in some other folder. How do I find out about it? It's not that I want to reverse engineer, but I don't want random orphaned files lying around in the system.

ITunes :: 10.6 Freezes When Syncing To 5th Gen Nano?
Mar 12, 2012I have just downloaded, and updated iTunes to 10.6. Now I only get a beach ball in iTunes (which can only be force quit) when doing any kind of sync with the with 5th Gen Nano. I can no longer delete or add songs or movies. The Nano still works perfectly.
Is the 5th Gen Nano no longer supported by Apple?

Jul 5, 2012Whenever I connect my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) to iTunes (10.6.3) on my Mac (OS 10.7.3) it always freezes, always for about 30 seconds and then it will work again. But let me note, this only happens on the first time I connect my iPhone for the first time I turn on my Mac. I'm not sure if that makes sense. So, when I turn on my Mac and I open iTunes and connect my iPhone, it will freezes but after 30 seconds it will work. But let's say I am done syncing my iPhone and I unplug it but a few minutes later I want to sync it again, if I connect it, it won't freeze. But let's say I restart or turn off my Mac, but after I open iTunes for the first time after I've booted and I connect my iPhone, it will freeze.I've had the same issue with my last iPhone so I know it's not isolated to my iPhone. I have deleted iTunes from the Terminal app and downloaded iTunes from the Apple website, but the issue will persist.Also, I don't have any podcasts synced on my iPhone. I've read that sometimes causes it. I ONLY have music and apps synced.

My problem is that suddenly since last week my Itunes freezes every time I try to connect my IPAD or my IPHONE it was working great but now I have this problem. I already completely remove Itunes and I already re-installed ver 11.2 and 11.2.1 but the problem is the same. I already tried to connect my devices to other computer (I have an IMac) and both devices were recognized without problems. I also restored my IPHONE to default settings but after that the problem is the same one. I would like to say that my devices are being recongnized without problems by my Macbook Pro, it also opens automatically Iphoto and I can get the pictures from my two devices so I know that it is not a problem with my Macbook or the USB ports.

OS X :: System Preferences Locks Up
Jun 19, 2009I just got a new uMBP today. Really nice machine. I have a Time Machine backup of my old system that I used to restore onto the new system using Migration Assistant. I must say it was very easy to use, and it took all my information and data from my old computer and migrated it to my new system with ease. It saved days of software installation and resetting preferences and everything. Tested software and everything opens fine as if it had been installed on this system itself.
Slight problem though with System Preferences though, specifically the Screen Savers portion. It is very clunky and will eventually lock up System Preferences as a whole. I have to Force Quit it and reopen it again. It does not do this anywhere else in the System Preferences.
I have removed the com.apple.systempreferences.plist
and even the: com.apple.ScreenSaver.Engine.plist from:
~/Library/Preferences
Both individually as well as together and rebooted the machine, but no luck, System Preferences still locks up when visiting the screen saver section. I even went in and manually deleted the screen savers that I had installed and rebooted and still did not have any luck. At this point I went in and did an archive and install of the OS as well thinking that maybe there was a conflict with the OS during the migration. It still locks up in the screen saver panel.

When I 1st got my Mac I found a cap locks short cut where you hit the shift button once, then the next letter you hit will be a capital or hit it twice & everything will be cap locks, until you hit it again, just like on the iPhone, but I can't find the setting now

Applications :: ITunes With Large Library Freezes
Jun 2, 2009I've been having a problem with iTunes that is driving me nuts. I'm not able to pinpoint exactly when it happened, but I think it was around the time v.8 came out.
iTunes freezes every time I start it up for around 7-8 minutes, then runs OK. This happens every time I start up, without fail.
It also freezes after (sometimes during) syncing with both my iPod Nano and iPhone 3G. It does this every time also, but it's inconsistent...sometimes it freezes during the sync, and sometimes it freezes afterward. Sometimes it takes me doing something like playing a song, but it always happens, regardless of whether I disconnect the device or leave it connected. It only does it after the initial sync; if I leave it connected and resync during the same connection it will not freeze again. The devices themselves are unaffected.
My iTunes library is 147gb. The actual library XML file is 69mb. I'd guess this has something to do with it, but if that is the case...what might be the cutoff size where this wouldn't happen any more? I used to have almost 350gb of stuff in iTunes...I've whittled it down this far and it still isn't helping!
I'm running the 1st gen MacBook Pro with 2gb RAM and a 320gb hard drive. I have approximately 30gb free on the drive, so I don't think hard drive space or RAM is the issue (although I have no way of knowing for sure).
Is there anyone else with libraries this size who are or aren't having the same problem? Can I do anything besides delete more music? And if so, how much do I need to delete? Can the XML file be optimized in any way?
ETA: I did the 8.2 update that came out today and it hasn't changed anything.
ITunes :: 10.6 (40) Freezes Computer At Beginning Of Song?
Mar 13, 2012After upgrading to iTunes 10.6 (40) this week I am experiencing (very) frustrating freezes at the start of every new track in iTunes. The freeze affect the whole computer. Nothing happens (or can happen) at all except the song plays. the freeze lasts 15-20 seconds then everything is back to normal. I expect it may have to do with caching/buffering the new song.
I really, really hope this is fixed very soon. I am on a 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Power Mac with 12 GB RAM running Mac OS 10.7.3.
