I was browsing on Twitter.com, and when I tried to follow someone there, it redirected me to Facebook.com. Now, whenever I type in twitter.com in Safari or Firefox I'm immediately redirected to facebook.com. In fact, twitter is being replaced by facebook in the url, so that if I type www.twitter.com/someone I get redirected to www.facebook.com/someone.

I have found that my hash key stroke should be either option + 3 or ctrl + 3. Neither are giving me a hash key stroke, so I can't setup trends on twitter! Not the end of the world, but slightly annoying none the less!Â

I need turning off the Breaking Apple News notifications. (See screenshot below.)Â
Notifications in System Preferences does not have an option for Breaking Apple News.Â
I called Apple Support and they didn't even know what I was talking about.Â
note, I do not want to turn off all of the notifications. I want all notifications on, except Breaking Apple News.Â

Just downloaded it right now and it's excellent! However, I notice a possible flaw in which whenever I receive a message from someone, it will notify me on both my Mac AND my iPhone! As you might imagine, it's pretty annoying given iMessages are flying through on my Mac. I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop iPhone notifications when messaging on Mac. I hope this feature will be added in ASAP from Apple if it doesn't exist yet!

I've been getting several email delivery failure notifications recently. I don't recognize the email addresses quoted. Is it possible that someone has hacked into my mail account? Is someone using my server identity?

After discovering that the Tweetie app I use turns on the discrete GPU, I've been looking at alternatives to maximize battery life. A lot of twitter clients use Adobe Air, which also seems to get a bad rep, but is that because it drains battery life too, or because it's just buggy otherwise? So far I've been using twhirl without any obvious issues, and I'm testing out the battery usage with that running. I have to admit, I didn't notice any significant battery drain when Tweetie was running, so maybe I'm just overreacting here. If I remember right I got a little over 6 hours, and installed Tweetie about two hours after I turned my MacBook on then. I'd actually prefer twhirl since I use that on the desktop and I'm just used to it, but not if Adobe Air is going to cause problems on my shiny new MacBook.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a simple, one line widget that lets me update my twitter from the dashboard.
Maybe the Twitter logo, a text-box with char counter and then you hit enter and it posts.
I don't mean to plug URLs but this is what got me started on trying to automate my Mac through twitter. Here What I want to do is when I send a tweet (d iGod_like_iPod mac etrieve contact "Aaron") Mail picks it up sees etrieve contact based on a rule starts a given automator app which turns around and emails my phone that particular contact. What I am having trouble with is after mail initiates the rule based on etrieve contact I have no clue how to copy "Aaron" from the twitter message in mail to pass that on to Automator.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been out of the Twitter game since Tweetie was the new thing on the block, now I want to dabble in Twitter again but I'm trying to find the good Twitter clients. Tweetie was awesome back in the day, I was shocked that it's been AGES since any form of update and that it lacks many of the new features from Twitter. I believe in supporting programmers but not when they let something go this stale and charge $20 for the full version. TweetDeck is awesome as ever but overkill for me being the casual Twitter user. I'd also like something that doesn't use another client (Adobe AIR) to run. What else is out there that's serving up updates to keep up with Twitter feature and API changes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Twitter client Tweetie on my Mac for about a year now with no problems
I tried reverting to earlier versions (1.2.5/1.2.4) and has the same problem. Forums/FAQ on Tweetie website have been of little use.
Any thoughts on how to get it working again? Running OSX 10.5.4, Macbook 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM
I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now the iMessage notifications that I get on my Macbook Pro are different, and I'm not sure how (or if I can) change them back to before. It used to be that when I got an iMessage and was using my laptop, the Messages application would bounce on the dock and show a "1" or however many new messages I had. Â
Now, with Mavericks, it doesn't bounce on the dock or show the number of new messages. It will only play the sound or display a banner if I want it to. Is there any way to get a number to show with the new messages I have, or can it not do that anymore with Mavericks??Â
This hasn't happened before. My Mac (MacBook running OS 10.5.6) will flash instead of a "bloop" noise when I get a notification. When I get an alert, I won't get a noise anymore. Or when I hit a button on my keyboard that does nothing my computer won't make a noise. Now my displays just flash white for a second. I have no idea how this happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been a happy Twitterrific customer on both Mac and iPhone for awhile now.
Recently, I've been fortunate to get an early peek at Kiwi from YourHead Software (of Rapidweaver plug-ins fame) - a new Mac Twitter client.
It's a sweet piece of work - especially for those with multiple Twitter accounts. Clean design, intuitive.
Yesterday, I got some invite codes to the early release which I'm posting here. If I get more, I'll post 'em too - but these are all I have right now.
I like to automatically hide the dock, because it gives me more space on the screen. Sadly, I can't see mail and Adium notifications when the dock is hidden.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac with Lion 10.7.3, a u-verse email account and Mail V 5.2. Since I got the computer which was about 2 months ago, I haven't been able to get a "new" mail notification on new emails. It has notified me but very few times. Why is that? I thought it had to do with me having my email also setup on my bb phone but I didn't have that problem when I was using Tiger on my old Powerbook computer. I don't open or even check my email on my phone and still I don't get the "new mail" notification. Is Mail broken?

So I made a backup to a new mac (the15" retina one, mid 2014). On my old mac with mavericks(v 10.9.4) notifications were working. On this one they are not. They are not showing up in notification center.
In the system preferences they are added, also in the notifications they are added to show up to 10 recent items.Â

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
It started occurring yesterday. I hear the notification sound but don't see the new messages in any of Mail folders. Sometimes my SpamSieve app shows a figure of messages of unknown nature, sometimes not, but nevertheless I hear the sound but don't get new messages. In Mail Preferences when moving the pointer over check-box with smith like "Enable the sound for other actions" (or whatever it sounds) a yellow commentary box briefly popped up which said that the chosen notification sound could alert about some other actions like sending a message, when neither message is received (?!!!), or there some error occurred during receiving or sort of. Is it possible to know specifically what messages couldn't make their way to my Mailbox (through Console app maybe?)?

I have a JPEG photo that's 5184 x 3456 (17.9 MP) It's too big for Twitter which has a file size limit of 5MB.Â
How do I resize the photo for Twitter? There are no Twitter-specific instructions in the Help Center. I have tried to follow the instructions for Image Export. I end up with identical photos.
I use Twitterfon on my iPhone and like it a lot and am currently using TwitterPost on my Mac but am not that happy with it. It doesn't seem that Twitterfon is available for Mac but is there a similar Twitter client for the Mac or something that is better than TwitterPost?
