I've been getting several email delivery failure notifications recently. I don't recognize the email addresses quoted. Is it possible that someone has hacked into my mail account? Is someone using my server identity?

I have just set up our G5 Mac's on our Windows Domain, I have enabled IMAP on Exchange Server 2003 and configured Mac Mail accordingly. Mac Mail can now send and receive messages and attachment just fine but when a sent message fails you do not receive the automated delivery failure notification from the System Administrator. If the Mac operator uses Outlook Web Access or a PC using IMAP to check his Inbox then the automated messages are displayed fine but Mac Mail refuses to pick them up. I am new to Mac's and would appreciate some advice, I have checked the Junk mail and they are not there either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA weird thing is happening with Mail.app. I'm on a PPC Mac with 10.4.11. Every time I go to a folder other than Inbox and then return to the Inbox there is a couple of emails threaded together with the subject line: Fwd: Delivery Notice Status (Failure) If I click on one of these emails, the email is blank including no headers showing up at all. Again, the emails only appear if I go to another mailbox folder and return to the Inbox. They do not appear if I stay in the Inbox.
View 1 Replies View Relatedon Monday, I received 2 email receipts from iTunes. Both were for a $50 iTunes gift card. I checked my bank account, and sure enough, I had 2 $50 drafts from my account.
I was out of town when it happened, but when I got home, I signed onto iTunes and checked my purchases...there they were. The thing is, no one was at home when it happened and my password is needed whenever I purchase anything. I have no idea how it happened!
I changed my password and emailed iTunes support. I chatted with them on Tuesday when they opened and they really didn't do anything but told me to call my credit card company. I called my bank and they sent me some fraud stuff so I can get my money back.
I did go back and check the cards and there's an email address on one of them...I guess to where the person was sending the cards to. Should I contact them? Apple finally sent me an email telling me to pretty much leave everything alone in case the police need to do an investigation.
I still don't know how this can happen. I'm very careful with what I do with my passwords.
About 2 weeks ago, I was contacted by Discover that my account had apparently been breached. Someone had charged over $100.00 worth of stuff to iTunes.
I went into itunes, changed my password, changed to Mastercard, and was able to purchase things for a couple of days. Now I get the message that my id has been disabled.Â
I use some of my apps in my work, and I can't update them. I can't buy music. I can't do ANYTHING. I am disabled and try to do some work from home. I need these apps working. Â

I have just become the latest victim of a Skype account hack (the usual thing - they change your password and email so you can't get back in, and then use up your SkypeOut credit), and I've lost about 10 euros of credit. What worries me more, though, is the fact that my account was hacked despite only being used on a Mac. Any ideas as to how this might have happened? I have the OS X firewall switched on, and have WPA2 security activated on my AirPort Express.I know that malware isn't usually a concern with Macs, but is it conceivable that I have something nasty running in the background? If I have, I have no idea where I might have got it from.

Since I got the computer which was about 2 months ago, I haven't been able to get a "new" mail notification on new emails. It has notified me but very few times. Why is that? I thought it had to do with me having my email also setup on my bb phone but I didn't have that problem when I was using Tiger on my old Powerbook computer. I don't open or even check my email on my phone and still I don't get the "new mail" notification. Is Mail broken?

It started occurring yesterday. I hear the notification sound but don't see the new messages in any of Mail folders. Sometimes my SpamSieve app shows a figure of messages of unknown nature, sometimes not, but nevertheless I hear the sound but don't get new messages. In Mail Preferences when moving the pointer over check-box with smith like "Enable the sound for other actions" (or whatever it sounds) a yellow commentary box briefly popped up which said that the chosen notification sound could alert about some other actions like sending a message, when neither message is received (?!!!), or there some error occurred during receiving or sort of. Is it possible to know specifically what messages couldn't make their way to my Mailbox (through Console app maybe?)?

I put a $100 gift card I got from buying a Mac for college in a few months ago, and bought like $9 worth of stuff and just left it idle. It says that about 2 weeks ago there were purchases made to download an app and then some gem **** (in app content) that cost $80 ******* dollars that was bought. I'm not worried about my personal information because i don't use a legitimate adress and only buy gift cards, because I like to live off the apple grid i guess...w/e, WHO DO I EMAIL TO GET THAT MONEY BACK!!!

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
There I have deleted an old exchange account, and created a new one, with the same email address and same password but with changed DNS with the provider. On the side of the email provider all technical data seem to work fine, yet I still can't create the new exchange account. This new account should refer to Office365.

I know you can change admin passwords by just pressing the power button and command s... my brother always changes my password and I physically have to hide my computer so he won't hack it. I know people use firevault to protect files but I don't need to do that. Are there any settings I can change or software I can install to prevent hacking?

My company uses Office 365 for hosted Exchange email. We have 1 user who uses Apple Mail on OSX 10.7 to connect to the server in Exchange mode (using EWS). This was working great until a few days ago where he has sporadic connection problems. Reproducable situation below:
1) Select 100 emails in any given folder
2) Drag/drop those emails into another folder to move them there
3) They will start moving but it will fail at somepoint and give the message "Cannot execute move operation".
4) After that message appears it is usually several minutes before he can try again or send any emails.
5) Trying to send an email immediately after the error message results in the "Cannot send message using the server" dialog where you are prompted to select a different server to send the message. Choosing an SMTP server results in the message being sent but sometimes (and only sometimes) the message is resent a couple of hours later through the exchange system.

Yesterday my wife got conned by a scammer who logged into her 2012 Air and started hacking away. We have no idea how much data he got or how much spyware he planted. She shut down the machine shortly after he got into it, but now we're in limbo. I want to totally wipe the SSD (I've been strongly advised to do so) and restore it from a backup drive (we use Super Duper for backup, as well as Crash Plan). Any special tricks to doing a total wipe of the data?

It gives me a Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods. error message. It was working fine and suddenly quit. I can access my mail by going to icloud as well as on my ipad, but not on my iMac using MS Entourage. When I set up a new account and have it "Verify My Settings," I get a "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" (-17900 ), yet its the same user name and password used on the ipad and icloud.com logon. Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
