View 8 RepliesI just got a new 13" MBP. I noticed that there is slight vibration on the right palm rest. I know that the hard disk is located under there but is this normal? Do any of you 13" MBP owners with stock 5400rpm drive feel the subtle vibration in your MBPs?

I am a converted user from PC to MAC and preach the benefits of Apple OS X et al to colleagues, friends and family. This morning I noticed some slight peeling on the bottom right side (near trackpad) of my Macbook Pro. At first I did not realise what it was, I thought it might be some surface marking / dust. I wiped the area with a dry cloth at which point a small part of the surface came away. Here is a link showing images that I have just taken. Need some constructive advice from the forum on what to do?

Everything is perfect except a white back light bleeding in a form of a line from above 3-4 inches from the bottom of the screen. Its only visible in solid black background.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer (Macbook Aluminum 2.4 GHz - currently running Snow Leopard) last October - my warranty ends Oct. 16th. Anyways, I put a disc in the drive earlier today, and the computer took it right away. That was unusual because half the time it doesn't wanna take the disc (someone at the genius bar assured me all of these Aluminum Macbooks are this way). So continuing with my story, I took the disc out when I was done and I heard slight clicking noises coming from the side where you put discs in. I closed the computer because I thought it would stop it, reopened it, and it was still doing it. So then I restarted it, and I didn't hear it. Now I'm hearing it every so often.

I also paid $20 for the installation ontop of the purchase to get it professionally installed...as I was looking into the details I noticed that the pieces are not properly cut out for the MBP 15" and are off leaving the edges unprotected from scratches. Disappointing because the edges will be most prone to scratches. Here are some pictures of my New MBP and Zagg Invisishield installed....
Also Zagg Invisishield owners is your cut out a little off too or did I end up with a bad one?
Today I just noticed that my MBP makes a very slight sound once in a while. I'm thinking it's just the hard drive working slightly harder. Is this normal?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a 28" inch display attached to newest version of Air. Works ok except when I have a full screen on plain dark grey background, then I see a waviness or flickering effect. Like the dark grey in Iphoto background. Other than this, the other colors seems ok. Pictures are fine, even when dark. Maybe there's a slight flickering with dark blue. Any explanations for this.
using mini display port to dvi. Tried with a friends dual link display, was a little different, but still unstable looking in dark grey when it fills the screen.
Could it be just what it takes to make this color, or the Hertz, which is 60. Other than this, no problem with the screen.
I received my 15" MacBook Pro 3 days ago and tonight I happened to notice a slight click noise when i open or close the lid. It sounds like it is coming from the hinge area.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to feel vibrations and some kind of "staticky" sound when I play any videos or music near or at loudest volume. Could it be possibly due to a loose screw? I noticed that on the bottom of my notebook, one screw seems to be slightly looser than the others.

How many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?
View 22 Replies View RelatedMine is bulging out at the bottom of the screen, right by that area that gets burning hot when you are plugged in or are on the 9600m gt--right where is says "Macbook Pro".
I noticed that the hinge started to develop a creaking sound when I opened and closed the lid. So I investigated to see if there were any cracks in the hinge. What I found was that if you look at the space between the bezel and the screen, there is a slight (very slight) bulge right by the wording "Macbook pro". If you press down on it, it moves--unlike the rest of the bezel.
Anyone else notice this? I am pretty sure it is caused by the heat in that area. That is a really poor design.
I have just ordered a new MacBook Pro and it does not have enough USB ports for my needs. If I have a USB 3.0 hub and I mix USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 peripherals on it, will the whole hub/computer USB 3.0 port be slowed down to USB 2.0 speeds?I am thinking back to Firewire, if you have Firewire 800 and 400 devices on the same chain, the whole chain slowed to Firewire 400 speeds.I don't think this is the same with USB but wanted some reassurance..

The power socket at the back of the mac pro makes a kind of buzzing noise. Only for a short amount of time though. I have have never heard this before as it isnt that loud at all, and only cam across it by chance. I kind of figured out that it might be the electrical current.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got the new 2.4 MB out of the box, started to register and discovered a rather annoying glitch: an over-sensitive 'a' key. The slightest touch is enough to set it off, I mean a feather touch, nowhere near a full key punch. Makes typing a real paaaaaaain. Anyways, rest of the keyboard works fine, so I figure gotta be a wonky contact. Checked out a few help forums and videos. Tried propping it up with the stiff paper trick. Still no dice. Popped the key lid off, exercised the plaaastic connector bit, which seemed fine. However, the rubber/silicon 'nipple' (the impact point) was also extremely sensitive. Moving swiftly along and ignoring the reams of 'sensitive nipple' comments, I popped off another key to compare. No sensitive nipple issues there. Now the question: what to do, what to do? Tried the Mac store, they kindly offered to take it off my hands for three weeks. Seems a bit much for one measly key.

I happened to be switching out displays at the back of my MP today. Could hear the fan at the lower back portion of the machine (as normal). but this time could also hear a very slight electrical hum just by the power unit -- is this normal (the hum) does yours have this hum?
I never heard it before. guess my head was never that close to it when the MP was on the floor. but since i moved it to the top of the desk my head is closer to it when I switch out the DVI ports
Trying not to be obsessive. I'll run before the white coats turn up by the front door
i went to clean some smudges on my screen today and noticed that there are some spots on the other side of the screen's glass... this there for anyone else? It's pretty freaking annoying. This machine should be perfect.

I am having issues with my Dual Band 1TB time capsule for some reason the damn ports won't forward I have enabled the correct settings with the ip address and the ports, but when I use a program to test if the ports are open they are always closed, regardless on pc or mac. Does anyone have a solution to this? I even reset my Time capsule to see if it would work, but no luck.

I am having monitor problems with it, the monitor has a slight red color on the right side and if there is a light colored box on the screen I get almost a run effect going to the right. This happens in OS X Tiger with all the updates, OS 9.2.2. I also have all the firmware updates, an external monitor looks great.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen the computer is sleeping or if I turn it off but the plug remains in the electrical socket, when I get very close to the machine I hear a slight crackling noise, as if the internal adaptor is making a slight noise. I don't hear it from any normal distance, and other than the buzzing phenomenon when brightness is below 50%, no other symptom. Is this normal for this model. I believe that the external adaptor for the 30" ACD made a louder but similar noise as well unless unpluged.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere's the deal, I am so frustrated. I am trying to open port 59152 for Transmission on my Macbook Pro. I have the latest releases of everything, I am using an Airport Extreme base station with an older airport to boost my signal/connect my tivo w/out a wireless adapter.
I have managed to get it open in the past but there was an update or something a month or two ago and at first it was still open and then it closed. I don't know what changed with the update, all I know is that I did n't change anything.
I have granted permission for Transmission to accept incoming connections on the firewall, little snitch allows it too. I have lighthouse, which worked at first but now I don't even know why I bother having it run. I have the port mapped through the airport utility.
PLEASE don't say to go to portforward.com because they haven't updated the Airport section since Leopard came out, yet every search I do someone repeatedly tells the person needing help to go to [URL]
I am going to attach some screen captures so you can see what I've got going on and maybe point out something I've missed.
Relevant newbie to the mac world. I have a MBP late 2009. I bought a third party Mini display port to HDMI converter so I can hook the MBP to my 46" Samsung screen.
This works fine, no major issues here. However the picture is not great. I compared watching a standard definition TV show through the MBP then burnt it onto a DVD. The DVD (using the PS3 as my DVD drive, connected via HDMI) had superior quality than through the MBP.
Also the picture does not quite fill the screen. There is a small black border running all the way around the screen. Does not sound significant but when doing the same comparison as above, you notice the difference when via DVD the movie fills the screen. I have played around with the resolution settings. Those that fill the screen chop bits of the mac desktop off, so thats no good either.
So I am wondering why this is? Is it because the mini display port is not a DVI port, hence I am not getting true HD quality picture? How can I overcome this if at all. I'm thinking of getting a mac mini as a media hub/HTPC but want to ensure I dont encounter the same problems.
is there a adapter with both a usb port and an eternet port?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHey guys! So just a few days ago, I received my iMac, and boy do I love it. A definite upgrade and improvement from my old Acer Aspire 3680.
But despite this, I have noticed that my iMac does have a slight yellowish tint at the bottom to corners. I just arrived at my desk, and the login window (I keep a password lock) had a slight yellowish tint when I woke up my iMac from sleep . I then noticed that the bottom two corners had a slight yellow tint to them. I verified this via the MacRumors Forum post, and I was able to find it out by making my desktop background white. Again, it may not seem noticeable at first, but if you examine it closely, it becomes apparent.
I've already called my local Apple store and one of them said that don't know about this issue (?) and that they could schedule an appointment for me. I declined because I have to have me parents take me and I'm pretty sure that I can't handle the load of carrying a 20lbs. computer w/o dropping it (yikes!).
So here's the big question, should I go to my local Apple store or call the Apple hotline when it's open (currently closed at the time of this thread)? I don't want to sound like a lunatic or someone that just wants to get a better iMac for free. Again, it's slight, but considering that I do movie editing and Photoshop work
This is my first post on the forums, although I'm planning on looking around in here once in a while, to see what people are posting.
For starters, I just wanted to tell you about this little problem I've been having with my MacBook 1,83GHz.
Sitting at my desk at work one morning, peacefully drinking my coffee, I suddenly received a rather discomforting error-message from my shiny new (about 1 month old) MacBook;
"A USB devise is currently drawing too much power and the port will be deactivated.".
