Applications :: Finding Good Twitter Client For Mac
Sep 26, 2010
I have tried so many now .... Here is what I want/need:
1) Multiple accounts
2) instapaper/read it later integration with links
3) easy marking of "read" tweets
4) This is the most important: I want to be able to place different people I follow into groups, like I was with seesmic for windows ... for example, I can put some people into a "tech" group and some into a literary" etc ... Why is this so difficult to find?!?!
I use Twitterfon on my iPhone and like it a lot and am currently using TwitterPost on my Mac but am not that happy with it. It doesn't seem that Twitterfon is available for Mac but is there a similar Twitter client for the Mac or something that is better than TwitterPost?
I'm looking for a simple twitter client that you can customise like Adium. Where you can have the window transparent on the desktop. I've attached a quick mock up of what I'd like, but I can't find an app like this. Does anything like it exist?

I'm looking for a good (preferably free but beggars cant be choosers) Subversion client for Leopard. Currently I am using ZigVersion, which runs fine and is free but it regularly gets confused and does horrible things to my repository, or gets itself into a loop trying to check the status of items which dont exist and other horrible things.
I have searched around (here and general googling) and there are several clients but they either seem to be hideously ugly, old or missing features. I would really like to take a look at Versions but as yet it does not seem to exist! Whether it will make an appearance seems to be unknown.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what they use, or which they find to be the best? Ideally I'd like it to be a nice modern leopardy (is that a word?) app, and free, but more important than that I would like it to work. Properly.
After discovering that the Tweetie app I use turns on the discrete GPU, I've been looking at alternatives to maximize battery life. A lot of twitter clients use Adobe Air, which also seems to get a bad rep, but is that because it drains battery life too, or because it's just buggy otherwise? So far I've been using twhirl without any obvious issues, and I'm testing out the battery usage with that running. I have to admit, I didn't notice any significant battery drain when Tweetie was running, so maybe I'm just overreacting here. If I remember right I got a little over 6 hours, and installed Tweetie about two hours after I turned my MacBook on then. I'd actually prefer twhirl since I use that on the desktop and I'm just used to it, but not if Adobe Air is going to cause problems on my shiny new MacBook.
With my new job I have to instant message clients on a variety of platforms, aim, google, msn, yahoo, ichat (mobileme), icq, and myspace.
I have looked at ichat and like it but it doesn't work with many of the above services. Also, I have seen some clients that may work with msn but chat only, not video. I want to be able to use video whenever possible.
What are some good mac instant messaging clients that I should look at?
I had used a separate FTP client until '09 came out but I have been having problems lately getting iWeb to connect. Can anyone suggest a good FTP client? Preferably free. The one I used before, you just dragged the folder onto the icon on the dock and it took it from there.
Just wondered what you guys feel is the best BitTorrent client, personally I think Azureus is as I think it is the most customizable and I seem to achieve the fastest speeds with it.
I have a shiny new macbook and i need a good software phone that supports either SIP or IAX (prefer both) is reliable and can record calls. It would also be nice if it has support for G729.
So far I've found ZoIPer Business, which will set me back 36GBP($58 USD). I'm a bit wary of purchasing it, as I've used ZoIPer FREE and it seems to crash sometimes (i.e. it wont cleanly exit)
I've also tried X-Lite although this also seems very buggy and havent been able to make a successful call.
Is there something someone can recommend that they've used? or should i shutup and buy ZoIPer & not complain about the price?
Well I have a Mac. Most of my friends have a PC. I need to be able to webcam them ALL at one time together. I sort of need a program like OoVoO but I do not want to pay for a multicam chat. I do not want a website one either. I want one that is downloadable for both MAC AND PC and it needs to support multi webcam at one time. Do not say Skype because i do not like skype. Can somebody find m e one?
I am looking for an instant messaging client that runs on os9. It will be running on a tray load 333mhz imac with 96 megs of ram. If anyone knows of a good one, reply. I have already checked google with no luck.
Okay, so I have an intel Mac (Macbook)... and I use Crossover, so I can run Wind0ze apps such as Digsby. I am trying to find something to use for Twitter, Facebook, Blogger (definitely those).
I have Adium for IMing for myspace, facebook, yahoo, msn, aim, etc
and Digsby (and with Digsby, Facebook - not the IM part, but the social networking part doesn't work)...
I'm starting my career in networking configuration (basically configuring routers & switches) and need advice on a good serial terminal app. Since Terminal that ships w/ Mac OS X doesn't deal w/ serial ports, I've had to resort to using apps like Zterm & QuickTerm. Both of those haven't been updated in years, and they don't really have a "Mac OS X"-ey GUI goodness about them.
What I need is a mail client for my iMac running MAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 which I can have Hotmail on which displays and has access to all my personal hotmail folders. So when I update/send emails/move email from one folder to another on my mac they update online and on my business partners (PC), and the same at the other end so it update son my Mac.
I also need to be able to send HTML e-newsletters.
This is for my business with 6000+ email addresses so I don't want to really have to change my works email address and use googlemail instead or something.
Currently I use a combination of Windows Live Mail (its actually pretty good for hotmail) and Outlook 2003 (flakey at times but great and easy for sending HTML emails).
I am having trouble trying to figure out how to connect from my mac with remote desktop client on it to my windows computer at my moms house over the internet.
I've been out of the Twitter game since Tweetie was the new thing on the block, now I want to dabble in Twitter again but I'm trying to find the good Twitter clients. Tweetie was awesome back in the day, I was shocked that it's been AGES since any form of update and that it lacks many of the new features from Twitter. I believe in supporting programmers but not when they let something go this stale and charge $20 for the full version. TweetDeck is awesome as ever but overkill for me being the casual Twitter user. I'd also like something that doesn't use another client (Adobe AIR) to run. What else is out there that's serving up updates to keep up with Twitter feature and API changes?
