MacBook Pro :: Hangs After Disconnecting From Dual Thunderbolt
Sep 4, 2014
I have a dual Thunderbolt setup (chained). When I disconnect my Macbook Pro (Early 2013, Retina 15", 2.8 GHz, i7, 10.9.4 (13E28)) and open the lid, the display back light comes on but the screen remains black. I can hit caps lock and the light toggles. But, I never get beyond the black screen to a login. I need to do a hard reset (holding down power button) to recover every single time I disconnect from my displays.

Mac OS X 10.8.5 crashes after I disconnect the thunderbolt display.
I normally work in the studio with my macbook connected to an external display.
When I go to use it without the thunderbolt display it crashes - 4 times in one day.
I've checked my log files and I have a list of panic reports. each of the reports refer to the graphics control.

I've been having a nightmare getting WIndows 7 to work properly with the second display on my MBP 15" (Early 2011) i7.
I'm currently running Lion 10.7.4 which works fine on both the internal laptop panel and the external AOC monitor through a Thunderbolt -> VGA Apple Adapter.
Bootcamp installed Windows 7-x64 with no issues, but when it came to trying to get the second monitor fired up it wouldnt.
I noticed when I installed WIndows and when I boot into it, that the screens mirror one another, I take it this is the Intel GPU running. I'll explain why in a bit.
1) I updated all the bootcamp files through Apple Update, no change
2) WHen I extend the displays, Windows sees the display, make and model without any issues, but it gets no signal
3) I then manually removed the ATI Radeon HD6xxx drivers manually, rebooted and both displays mirrored again throught a 'standard VGA adapter', this is why I assume this is the Intel kicking in.
4) I downloaded the latest ATI Drivers... ATI Mac Drivers -> Bootcamp -> Macbook Pro
5) Rebooted, and still stuck at step one now...

I already have a Apple Thunderbolt display hooked up to the Thunderbolt port of my MBP Retina. Can I hook up a Dual DVI-D display with 2650X1600 to my MBP in addition? To second Thunderbolt port with Apple DVI adapter or other?

I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.
I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.

I have a Dual 1.8Ghz G5 that hangs on startup, right at the grey screen, the pinwheel will freeze.
I have tried:
- Resetting pram and nvram
- Starting from the install CD with the HD disconnected
neither of which worked.
Oddly enough, it will start and run the apple hardware check CD, and an advanced check reports everything as OK.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro (my first Mac). I'm having a problem whereby it keeps disconnecting (a few times a day) from the internet. When I click on network preferences -> Assist Me -> Diagnostics... the ISP, Internet & Server lights are red. I click continue under airport, select my network and it then says my internet appears to be working which it does until the next time.

After downloading Yosemite, my computer (macbook pro) keeps disconnecting my home wifi. I had no problems with my wifi before and my roommates have no problems with it still (they do not have macs). This is only happening at home though, when I go anywhere else, my wifi stays connected. I have tried deleting/forgetting my wifi network and reconnecting, restarting my computer, i searched through my settings but I don't know what to do. It disconnects like every two minutes. When it disconnects and i go to reconnect, the wifi is still there and has full bars, my computer just doesn't stay connected to it.

I have a 2.3 GHz MBP bought in 2011. It sits on my desk with the power adapter plugged in and I have a large monitor, keyboard and mouse attached. Typically every weekend or at least every other weekend I disconnect everything from the MBP and carry it around for a day or so until the battery is less than half charged. Then I reconnect everything and let it charge up.
1. Is what I do necessary and if so is that frequency of recharging sufficient?
2. Is it advisable to do a shut down before disconnecting everything and again before reconnecting?
3. If letting the battery run down once in a while is advisable, as a mater of convenience could I leave the MBP connected on my desk and just remove the power adapter, so it would still be connected to the monitor, keyboard and mouse just using the battery, and then reconnect the adapter when the battery is low?

My macbook pro, running on osx mavericks, disconnects from wifi for no reason. This happens often, but I can't find a solution. I have tried making a new location and deleting all my networks in the network preferences. I have also uncheck "wake for internet access" in the energy preferences. I have reseted my computer multiple times.

Macbook Pro (Mid-2012) Which I purchased 4 months ago.
It keeps dropping the signal about every 5 minutes, only on my home network. It's only this device too, since my phone and all of my roomates' devices are unphased. (streaming videos like it's no big deal)
This started happening after we lost connectivity with the snow a few days ago here in Seattle. I have tried all sort of troubleshooting, including the DNS thingy and restarting the router.

Lately I've been noticing that my Airport disconnects about every 10 - 15 mins or so and then reconnects after it searches for a network, which is mine. 99% of the time I'm sitting right in front of my router. I've reset the router, rebooted, reset my pram, and the problem still persists. This issue doesn't occur on my girlfriends HP.

This issue started to appear few days ago, and it is really frustrating.
Every couple of minutes, my Airport disconnects from the networks and reconnects in a matter of seconds, causing all of my on-line activities to cancel, and IM programs to disconnect.
And the main concern is that I've had my Macbook for 2 and a half years already, and this never happened before. And now happens all the time.

kernel panics after using my MicroBook II USB interface with either Logic Pro 9 or Pro Tools 10, or even standalone programs.
My macbook is a mid 2012, 4 gb, 2,5 ghz i5 with OSX 10.9.3
The only way to really avoid this, that I've found, is to close every application and then disconnect it, but this doesn't work every time.
it would be nice to be able to disconnect the USB Interface without getting the "grey screen".

Had my iPhone 6 replaced today from an authorized service provider.
Wanted to sync the iPhone to my Macbook Air but when I connect it, it keeps on connecting and disconnecting.
I tried to..
1. Insert the USB cable into the other port (there are 2 built-in ports) This did not work; problem persists
2. Plug in my iPhone 5 into both ports The iPhone 5 is able to connect with no problems.
3. Plug in my iPhone 6 into another laptop with iTunes installed. The iPhone 6 is able to connect with no problems.
It was only after some minor fidgeting with the end of the USB cable (near to the phone) that I am able to sync, but this is not a perm fix.
Is it my Macbook Air's USB port that is causing the problems? Or is it my new iPhone 6? (although I am doubtful since I can connect to another laptop)

I tried to re-apply the thermal paste myself but when it came to disconnecting the wire connectors from the logic board, 3 of the connectors came off completely from the logic board or has damaged the pins. (the battery connection, and two for the left fan)
I have a feeling that these three became brittle or weak from the heat that was generated from the laptop (hence i wanted to do the thermal paste mod). Or it's just my stupidity that these broke. But the others came off without a problem.

Simple question to you guys with multiple monitor setups:
How does the OS resize/rearrange windows when connecting/disconnecting the Macbook Pro from the larger display? I'd imagine it'd have to do something since the resolution on the larger monitor is much greater than the MB screen.

I recently installed OSX Lion and everytime I plug in my WD external hard drive it disconnects it a few minutes after pluging it in. I did some troubleshooting by pluging the hard drive into another mac book that hasn't been upgraded to OSX Lion and it wasn't disconnected. I have my entire itunes library stored on this hard drive.

I have a much loved ibook G4 14" (late 2004??). It has just died. Well, in so much as it won't boot up. The ibook either gets as far as the apple grey screen and hangs, gets to the login screen and hangs, actually loads up finder etc and hangs or none of the above. Sometimes flashing red, blue green black.
After lots of research online over the past few days I tried the following: I have tried safe mode (not working), starting the command prompt screen (single user and verbose modes), started open firmware, and tried booting from a CD. Nothing works as the boot gets so far then hangs. I have flashed the PRam, resetted the NVRam, and have stopped short of opening up the case to dismantle it!
I just really want to access the hard drive now. I have tried Target disk mode and linked the ibook (pressing T) via firewire to a PowerPC G5, but the G5 doesn't recognise the ibook. System profiler on the G5 shows the target mode connected and working fine via firewire, just the icon for the ibook/target doesnt mount on the G5 desktop so I cant access it.Currently the boot freezes within a couple of minutes.I tried the hardware test CD that came with the ibook years ago, I have also tried booting from an OSX Panther CD. I'm assuming they would be bootable.
I forgot to mention that in linking with the G5 in target mode, a disk that I put in the ibook drive appeared on the G5 desktop as an external drive, therefore I wonder why i cannot see the actual ibook drive mounted. The CD drive works as it mounted on the G5.Does the ibook have an actual PRam battery that can be replaced? Maybe this is an issue?Am I able to actually remove the hard-drive and access it as an external drive somehow?
