OS X Yosemite :: WiFi Keeps Disconnecting On MacBook Pro?
Dec 4, 2014
Macbook Pro (Mid-2012) Which I purchased 4 months ago.
It keeps dropping the signal about every 5 minutes, only on my home network. It's only this device too, since my phone and all of my roomates' devices are unphased. (streaming videos like it's no big deal)
This started happening after we lost connectivity with the snow a few days ago here in Seattle. I have tried all sort of troubleshooting, including the DNS thingy and restarting the router.
Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1, my MacBook Pro has been randomly disconnecting from the WiFi access point. Nothing has changed settings-wise, and none of the other devices have the same issue. Here's my log when it disconnects:
12/9/14 12:11:52.000 PM kernel[0]: AirPort: Link Down on en1. Reason 8 (Disassociated because station leaving). 12/9/14 12:11:52.000 PM kernel[0]: en1: BSSID changed to 00:00:00:00:00:00 12/9/14 12:11:52.000 PM kernel[0]: en1::IO80211Interface::postMessage bssid changed
After downloading Yosemite, my computer (macbook pro) keeps disconnecting my home wifi. I had no problems with my wifi before and my roommates have no problems with it still (they do not have macs). This is only happening at home though, when I go anywhere else, my wifi stays connected. I have tried deleting/forgetting my wifi network and reconnecting, restarting my computer, i searched through my settings but I don't know what to do. It disconnects like every two minutes. When it disconnects and i go to reconnect, the wifi is still there and has full bars, my computer just doesn't stay connected to it.

My macbook pro, running on osx mavericks, disconnects from wifi for no reason. This happens often, but I can't find a solution. I have tried making a new location and deleting all my networks in the network preferences. I have also uncheck "wake for internet access" in the energy preferences. I have reseted my computer multiple times.

i Have a late 2013 Mackbook air since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1 Serial No CO2LXR9SF5V7 my key board has stopped working. Can login with key board but then that is it does not work thereafter. Wi FI keeps disconecting.
i have an imac 2009 edition, and every time that my computer falls asleep, it gets disconnected from wifi. When it gets disconnected then all my downloads get interrupted, and thats really annoying!
I have a month old iMac 21.5" running Lion and a 17" Macbook Pro on SL From out of the box, I have had wifi issues with the iMac that have become worse since installing the wifi update last week. While my Macbook connects and stays connected with no issue, the iMac dropps the connection and looses all Access Points every 30 minutes to an hour. This is becoming a real head ache as I do allot of Facetime / Webnars.
I have an iMac OS X 10.7.3 (purchased in late 2010) with all updates current. I use AirPort to connect to my Linksys router with a WPA2 password.
Nearly everytime I wake my computer from sleep, my wireless router is disconnected, even when I have set my settings and clicked on the lock to prevent further changes. My router always shows on the list of available connections with full strength, but it is more often than not extremely difficult to get it connected again. It says "Could not join "myRouter". A connection time out occured." I usually have to use the assistant and go through the steps, which usually includes re-typing my password four to five times before it agrees that I know my own password (which is fairly simple to type, I can't possibly be entering it incorrectly that many times).
I downloaded and installed an update [URL] that quote: "resolves an issue that may cause an iMac to not automatically connect to a known Wi-Fi network after waking from sleep. It is recommended for all iMac (Late 2009 or newer) users running 10.7.3."
I tried setting a new location, and set the DHCP setting under TCP/IP to be manual. I was successful in connecting to the internet that time, and locked the settings to prevent further changes, yet the first time my computer woke from a sleep, the lock was unchecked and the settings were changed back to automatic. And I was disconnected yet again.
This has been going on for months, but in the last couple weeks I have found I am now unable to lock the lock to prevent changes, no matter if my Location is set to automatic or one that I have created. Really looking for resolution as this is wasting so much time, I am on and off the computer multiple times a day.
Since upgrading to Yosemite my Wi-Fi connection is awful! It connects and disconnects every 10 seconds, this has only happened very recently so I think its linked to the upgrade to Yosemite...

The bluetooth badly interferes with the wifi - with bluetooth on, wifi download is around 1mbps; without bluetooth it instantly jumps to 10+mbps. Problem is - I need to work on an external monitor with the bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.
I recently around 3-4 weeks ago update my Mac Book Pro to the new Yosemite software and everything was going fine until I got onto my internet! i was connected to my home wifi and everything was fine! Click into something and said I wasn't connected..! I looked up to see the wifi had disconnected! So i thought it was just a fault in my wifi modem, i manually clicked my wifi again it connected. It wasn't until after the 6th time it happened that i realised it wasn't my network and that it was my laptop! now everytime im watching a movie online or youtube its get disconnected and I have to continuously manually connect to my network! This happens every 2-3 minutes and had been frequent since I have updated! It's super annoying as it interfers with my regular web surfing and have looked for and tried so many things to fix it and nothing seems to work!
I've been dropping my wifi since the update. It drops all the time regardless of what I am doing. I have to shut off and then turn on wifi again to show listed. The router works fine with other devices (iPad, iPhone etc) plus my PC.
New-out-of-the-box computer. I've tried creating new network connections -- and other configuration - but no internet pages open. The screen message says "You are not connected to the Internet."

My problem is at home the wifi works great but at work or on a public network it disconnects every minute. Only happened since upgrade to Yosemite. I'm aware lots of people are having issues with WIFI since upgrading to Yosemite.
I've been having Wi-Fi issues with Yosemite (both 10.10 and 10.10.1), but only on my home network. All other wi-fi connections have been strong/reliable. I also ran the Yosemite beta from July (I think) until the full release, but did not have any similar issues with wi-fi.
Here are my hardware specs:
Plus a 500gb hard drive.
Here's the info on my computer's wi-fi card, and my wi-fi network itself. Router is a Linksys E1000 (which is ancient, I know, but I can't afford a 5.0GHz router right now and that seems like the only worthwhile upgrade).
I'm on Yosemite; on both my iMac and MB Pro, I can't put the computers to sleep when it's connected to the wi-fi; I have to turn the wi-fi off, and then it'll go to sleep. I'd like to be able to keep the internet connected when want to do this.
I have an iMac late 2012. Since upgrading the OS to Yosemite, I have had random drops in my wifi. I have already tried 'forgetting the network' and Deleting the system config stuff. I still get this random drop. My computer is unreliable. Dropping during an online exam is bs because it screws everything up.
I have never experienced Wifi drops in my life and I am starting to get annoyed with this.
My keyboard and mouse is using bluetooth... Does that have something to do with it? Should I just install and use Windows instead?
Recently searched the history of my iMac to see just what was loaded into the system. What I found was that there were 3 different WI-FI networks on my iMac and I would like to know just what they belong to? One is called "Orangecat", another is "wildchild" and the last one is also "wildchild-guest". What these accounts are associated with and if they are part of the internal configuration of my iMac?

this evening, a neighbor's xfinity wireless network kept flashing what appeared to be web pages on my MBPro screen. They weren't attached to any browser I was running.
I'd close these pages (ads to join xfinity) but they'd keep coming back. Then I noticed that I'd been booted from my own wireless network, and xfinity was the active network!
It feels predatory, this behavior. How can I set up our Macs to prevent this ever happening again? When I join our wifi in our home, I don't want any other signal to elbow in, so to speak.
Or, if there's some kind of interruption in our wifi signal, I don't want some other network elbowing in.
However it happened, how can I set it up such that, if I didn't authorize a wifi network, it will be prevented from joining me to it?

I think there is an icon error in OS X Yosemite. The third icon above is slightly larger than all the other icons, distorting the WiFi signal when searching for a WiFi network.

I have an iMac Retina OS X 10.10.1, an iPhone 5s IOS 8.1.1, and an iPad 2 IOS 8.1.1
I would like to sync calendar, contacts, notes, reminders and email over wifi without using iCloud. I would like this to be automatic, but can't make it work. I've disabled iCloud on the both hand held devices, but the iMac tells me that iCloud is still working and that I can disable it using the hand held devices. It doesn't work.
Every time I try to delete my wifi certificate in Keychain Access, it continually crashes. Tried it in safe mode, still crashes. I cannot get my Airport extreme 5th gen to pass along an IP address to my Mac even though mac is connected to AE (seen via Network Utility). Thought that deleting keychain password would work. I recently bought a Macbook Pro (my first Mac). I'm having a problem whereby it keeps disconnecting (a few times a day) from the internet. When I click on network preferences -> Assist Me -> Diagnostics... the ISP, Internet & Server lights are red. I click continue under airport, select my network and it then says my internet appears to be working which it does until the next time.
I have a 2.3 GHz MBP bought in 2011. It sits on my desk with the power adapter plugged in and I have a large monitor, keyboard and mouse attached. Typically every weekend or at least every other weekend I disconnect everything from the MBP and carry it around for a day or so until the battery is less than half charged. Then I reconnect everything and let it charge up.
1. Is what I do necessary and if so is that frequency of recharging sufficient?
2. Is it advisable to do a shut down before disconnecting everything and again before reconnecting?
3. If letting the battery run down once in a while is advisable, as a mater of convenience could I leave the MBP connected on my desk and just remove the power adapter, so it would still be connected to the monitor, keyboard and mouse just using the battery, and then reconnect the adapter when the battery is low?
I am using MBA 11" 2014. for connecting lan i use usb ethernet adapter. In the begging it works fine, but after 1 or 2 hours the connection gets automatically disconnected. at that time the usb ethernet interface says not connected while PPPoE is still connected(after some seconds it gets also disconnected for not having any connection). after unplugging and then again connecting the lan to the port after wards plugging the usb it gets connected. but the problem continues for some times. i have to unplug and plugged it in several time for connecting the usb ethernet interface. after a while it stops. but not stops completely...
