MacBook Pro :: How Does The OS Resize/rearrange Windows When Connecting/disconnecting

May 12, 2010

Simple question to you guys with multiple monitor setups:

How does the OS resize/rearrange windows when connecting/disconnecting the Macbook Pro from the larger display? I'd imagine it'd have to do something since the resolution on the larger monitor is much greater than the MB screen.

MacBook Air :: IPhone 6 Keeps Connecting And Disconnecting Via USB Cable

Dec 7, 2014

Had my iPhone 6 replaced today from an authorized service provider.

Wanted to sync the iPhone to my Macbook Air but when I connect it, it keeps on connecting and disconnecting.

I tried to..

1. Insert the USB cable into the other port (there are 2 built-in ports)  This did not work; problem persists

2. Plug in my iPhone 5 into both ports The iPhone 5 is able to connect with no problems.

3. Plug in my iPhone 6 into another laptop with iTunes installed. The iPhone 6 is able to connect with no problems.

It was only after some minor fidgeting with the end of the USB cable (near to the phone) that I am able to sync, but this is not a perm fix.

Is it my Macbook Air's USB port that is causing the problems? Or is it my new iPhone 6? (although I am doubtful since I can connect to another laptop)

Mac Mini :: Connecting To The Internet / Keeps Disconnecting?

Mar 28, 2012

My mac mini has problems connecting to the internet it keeps disconnecting from the preferred network. When trying to reconnect, it says there's an error trying to join the network. When it can connect, it's only for a brief period. I bought it a while back and had this problem back then. I stored it away, and only recently dug it out again still having the same problem.

Windows On Mac :: Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Keeps Disconnecting

Jan 13, 2009

I installed Windows 7 on iMac 20 inch. All went smoothly and after lot of trail and errors, was able to recognize my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. All well till here. Now the problem is that these two devices keeps disconnecting very very often. For mouse, atleast i can move around and after few clicks, it starts working, but keyboard just doesn't work at all. I have to switch off the keyboard and then switch it back on to get it working for few more minutes. Is there a way I can resolve this? I've installed Bluetooth drivers from bootcamp 2.1 update for vista.

Windows On Mac :: Xp Internet Keeps Disconnecting Every 5 Minutes/limited Or No Connectivity?

Aug 13, 2009

I have windows xp sp3 and while playing my game, the internet keeps disconnecting about every 5 minutes. Then a bubble comes up and says, "Limited or no connectivity" and I have no internet. So I have to disconnect and connect again to get another 5 minutes before it does it again. The modem I have is this: Verizon GT704WG Wireless DSL Modem/Router To narrow the problem down I went to another house with another wireless and it worked without any problem there.

OS X :: Auto Resize Windows To Fit?

Oct 2, 2010

I could have sworn this was possible and I just can't remember how to do it. In Windows 7, the OS is able to resize the windows to where it splits the screen between the two open windows equally. I could have sworn OS X is able to do the same thing, but I can't remember. I have a lot of papers and careplans to right. Am I wrong or is this not possible?

Applications :: How To Resize Windows Partition

May 17, 2009

Well when I bought my Mac I said "O I bet I'll still use Windows a TON for various tasks." So I made a 100GB Partition for Windows. Now I'm realizing how dumb that was because I only boot into Windows once a month now, and I have only used about 10GB of that Windows Partition. So I have about 90GB free on that partition. Back on the OSX disk I only have 3GB free, and I need space. So, can I make the Windows partition smaller, or do I have to completely wipe it?

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Why Do Some Windows Resize Correctly, Others Don't

Apr 21, 2012

Many games launch in 800x600 resolution before they can be resized. To get around this I always minimize open application windows before I play, then click them out of the Dock when I've finished. Some apps come out of the Dock as they were before (Safari, Mail) while others expand as if they were in an 800x600 environment (iTunes). How can I get iTunes to behave the same way as Safari and Mail? Why is it expanding with a small window when I minimized it BEFORE launching the game in question?

Windows On Mac :: Unable To Resize Bootcamp Partition

Jan 6, 2011

Running Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit and OS X 10.6.5. Winclone version is 2.2. I attempted to enlarge my Bootcamp Windows partition (deleted, resized to full, and then resized again with Bootcamp Assistant). I've made several attempts without any success. I have two Winclone images (11/2010 & 1/2011). The latest image doesn't even get started good before I get an error about 2 bad sectors and the one from last year runs all the way through and gives an error at the end. I ran disk repair on the complete partition before rezizing back to bootcamp and it still didn't work. I managed to get a win 7 repair disk to run one time and ran chkdsk on the bootcamp partition that returned no errors. I thought I might be able to install Win 7 fresh and then do a restore from a Windows system image that I have, but I can't get my Windows 7 disk to work when using the Bootcamp Assistant (I get a boot screen with two options (1. & 2. with nothing else visible) at the install point of the process and can't go past there).

Windows On Mac :: Won't Work With Leopard Resize Bootcamp's Partition

Mar 17, 2008

With Leopard's new Disk Utility, can a Bootcamp partition be non-destructively resize? Or is it still necessary to clone the Windows install, redo Bootcamp, and restore Windows?

I found my Bootcamp partition is too small and will need to be resized eventually (or, rather, games are much much larger than I realized ). But I really don't want to reinstall Windows to accomplish this.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Cannot Resize Or Partition Hard Drive For Windows

Mar 25, 2012

The picture above is evidence of my self-corrupting OS. Those 3 problems are the same every single time I boot my computer. I have done countless re-installs of OS X Lion, even bought a new hard drive and did a clean install. Because of the self-corruption, I cant resize or partition my drive for Windows, with Boot Camp giving me a generic "An error has occurred. Format your disk and re-install Mac OS X" (Partitioning failed so I never wiped).

Applications :: Drag Windows To Edge Of Desktop And Auto Resize?

Aug 31, 2010

Those that have Windows 7 should know what I'm talking about. You can drag your application windows to the edge of the screen and Windows will automatically resize your window to take up half the screen. You can then do it with another window on the other edge and have 2 50/50 windows open. Anyone know of software that will allow me to do this on my Mac?

OS X :: Connecting MacBook Pro To Windows 7 Desktop

Dec 30, 2009

On my mac, to connect to any of my windows computers, I used to go to the "Go" menu and then select "Connect to Server". From there I would type in smb:// and then "connect" and away I would go. I'd get the good old list of network shares to mount. Now when I select the smb://, "connect", I get an error. Nothing network wise has changed. I rebooted my WAP and reset my net connection and everything else. And networking works fine on the PC side.

Windows On Mac :: Bought Airport Extreme - Need Connecting On Windows

Jan 9, 2010

Ok, I feel like a doofus, but I need some help if someone is willing.

I bought an Airport Extreme and installed per instructions on the Mac partition. The Extreme replaces an Express as the base unit, the express now extends the range of the network (and is now connected to my stereo system). So, the "new" network that was set up has the exact same name as the old one when it was just the Express.

Everything works fine on the mac side. When I go to my Win XP side (Boot camp) it sees the network but says it cannot connect. To put is simply, I can't remeber what I need to do. I haven't had to mess with this stuff since I set it up almost 2 years ago. Do I need to set up a new network?... I am just drawing a blank. Is keeping the same name for the "new" network part of my problem?

ITunes For Mac :: Rearrange Apps On IPhone?

Aug 20, 2014

I think I used to be able to plug my iPhone into my iMac and, via iTunes, be able to click on the icon for my phone, then choose Apps across the top and when the screen opened showing my apps on the various desktops I had built, I could click on the apps and move them from one desktop to the other, and rearrange their order.  Now, in iTunes 11.3.1, when I click on the app and try and drag it, the whole desktop moves.  It is easier to rearrange them via iTunes  on the iMac vs doing it on the iPhone as you can make the app icons bigger, which makes it easier to see them.

OS X :: Unable To Get Windows To Resize From 24" External Monitor To 13"

Jul 2, 2010

I recently went from a 24" iMac to a 13" MBP and I'm trying to figure out how to get windows to automatically resize when dragging them from my 24" external monitor to my MBP. Currently I can drag a window and it will resize vertically but not horizontally. Also, if I have my external monitor connected and have iTunes on it(or safari, mail, iCal, etc.) and then I close iTunes and unplug my external monitor and then reopen itunes at a later time it is waaay to big for my MBP's screen and I cant adjust the size since the corners are way off the screen. I literally have to wait tell I can plug my external monitor back in and resize iTunes to make it small enough to fit on my MBP.

Applications :: Is It Possible To Rearrange The Folders In The IPhoto Library

Dec 28, 2009

I have been handling my family's photos for some time now, using iPhoto on my mac. Now I am about to buy a ReadyNas. I want to store the iPhoto library there and give the rest of the family access to it. The problem is that I am the only mac-user, all the others have windows.

The plan is that they will use Picasa when reading from the iPhoto library. There is a problem though. I am afraid that it will be all messy since iPhoto stores both modified pictures and the originals. I addition to this the subfolders to these main folders have got inconsistent names since the photos were taken before I started using iPhoto. The result will be that the person using Picasa will see tons of folders with just a few pictures in them.

Safari :: Rearrange Folders In Bookmarks Menu?

May 15, 2012

Safari 5.1.7 under OS X 10.7.4 simply refuses to let me rearrange folders within the Bookmarks Menu. I use Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks and select Bookmarks Menu in the sidear. If I now drag and drop a folder within that menu, it just pops right back to where it was before. I've tried all the methods I know:

(1) Drag out of ~/Library/Preferences and restart Safari. Same problem.

(2) Use the app SafariSort [URL], which alphabetizes all the folders and their contents. But as soon as I now try to drag-and-drop a folder or a bookmark, the order of everything reverts to the original (unwanted) order. exactly, does Safari store the list of Bookmark Menu folders? I examined in both the XCode plist editor and in a plain text editor, but I don't see them there. (And actually it's obvious that the bookmarks cannot be there, since after I remove and restart Safari, the bookmarks are back; where were they)
