MacBook Pro :: Flashing Yellow Alert / How To Determine It
May 31, 2012
i am receiving a yellow info alert which flashes a couple times per hour but the flash is so quick, i cannot read it.any ideas on how to determine what the issue is?
An alert box with a yellow triangle keeps randomly popping up on my screen. But I don't have time to read what it says because it disappears in 1 sec. What is it? What can I do to get rid of it?
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
So I have an Airport Extreme hosting my wireless network in my home office (second floor). A couple months ago I bought a Time Capsule (1TB) and have it extending my network from our family room (main floor).
I was just watching TV and saw the status light change from green to flashing yellow/orange. Thinking our internet just went down, I cracked open my MBP and fired up FireFox.... Internet is working just fine. Switched over to the Airport Utility and scanned for Devices. The only device found is my Airport Extreme.
I scanned my local area wireless networks, and all that can be found is the usual suspects... no new apple devices.Did a search on this forum and the apple support forum without finding anything super helpful.I know I could plug in via Ethernet and see if I could find it then...(its installed right under our TV and people are watching it right now)...
My next course of action is to reset the TC... When i set it back up, if I don't give it the exact same name... will i still be able to resume my back-ups from where they were before? (I know I shoulda backed up the config file... but I didn't)?
Advice?
(I highly doubt that it is a software update ... I keep ontop of those, and one hasn't been released for a while... My Extreme is at 7.3.2)
Update: So after an hour researching all of this I came back downstairs and the TC status light is green... But its still not showing up in the AirPort Utility and I can't back up.
Update 2: So I power cycled it and its fixed... hope this never happens again.
My router is giving me troubles all of a sudden. It's been flashing the yellow/amber light and I cannot connect to the internet anymore through it.
I've unplugged it and used a different ethernet cable through it, but it still won't connect.
However, my internet does work when I directly plug the ethernet cable into the back of my Mac. So it's not my ISP, which makes me think it's the router.
My AEBS is no more than 6-8 months old, and this is the first time I can't seem to fix it. Usually unpluging it and turning it off and back on will work.
Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
Yesterday I completed a 4 hour backup of my 64 Gb iPad on my 11" MBA. I started with 75 GB available before I synced and backed up my iPad and then checked it again after the sync completed and ended up with 67 GB available. I can't figure why I dropped so much storage after everything backed up. I checked my mobile sync folder and can only attribute 2.25 GB as my backup size for my ipad which means I lost an additional 5.75 GB and is being tied up somewhere on my flash drive. Could anyone please give me a suggestion or idea in how I can determine where the extra storage went?
This relates to: [URL]. We are trying to determine the compatibility of the air keyboard to the macbook unibody. Can someone with an air tell what these basic measurements are:
* from side to side * from top to bottom * the exact size of the Esc, F1-F12 and eject keys (one would be enough)
If you would like to go further you can measure others as well, but if those 3 match than the rest probably do as well considering that it has already been confirmed that the keys from an old non-unibody macbook can be swapped to the air or mb unibody.
my mac has been perfect for years, but just today it started with this yellowish 'mask' on the text boxes and drop down menus and the safari page is almost entirely yellow what gives?? Are there known graphics card issues with the MacBook Pro? How can I get an update for the Graphics Card? I checked for updates and it says there are none.
I have had my MBP for about 6 months now and decided to treat myself to a game. Being a fan of C&C and Red Alert, I thought I would try the new Red Alert 3 game. I am using the game with the built in trackpad. The problems occured on working out the controls. I have worked out how to use the right mouse function but I am struggling with the following:
ROTATE CAMERA - In the main menu, I go to 'Tutorials', then 'Intro into the Basics', and then I get started with the tutorial. After about the second or third tutorial prompt it talks you through how to rotate the camera using the middle mouse button. MBP do not have a middle mouse button. I have tried every combination of keyboard functions and nothing works.
Can somebody out there help get me through this stage and tell me what I need to press for the middle mouse button function on a MBP?
I recently started getting this prompt to get Adobe Flash Player Update on my MacBook Pro with Lion. I downloaded it the first time and now it has got very slow when browsing in Safari. I read about the malware running around, and am a bit worried. I am now getting the same prompt again and wanted to see if it is legit or not to download it.
I have a 2008 macbook, out of warranty. My mac is running os x 10.6.4... I recently updated the laptop through the update section, and this is around the time the errors began. My next stop is perhaps reinstalling the operating system, but have to go out and buy the disc so thought i would check all options first.
It has begun random shutdowns recently, and i have tried checking the ram, checking power supply, removing battery to see if its caused by that, but so far nothing has come up. A mate of mine said sometimes you can work out the problem by looking at the logs to see what is causing the problem... Well, long story cut short,
the log is as follows from when i turned it on this afternoon, till the random shutdown, and then powering it back up again, i put the exact shutdown time in bold.

My new MacBook Pro runs perfectly. However, it makes the "funk" alert sound effect on a random basis and it is getting pretty annoying. Why is this happening? I am apparently not the only user experiencing this issue, but they did not identify the sound as being one of the built-in sounds.
I'm facing an issue with safari. Every time I try to start the app safari - alert window pops up, and I cannot really close it because when I do, it shows again and again.
I recently purchased two 2GB memory modules from OWC to upgrade my MacBook 2.4 Core 2 Duo. The memory arrived and I verified the packing slip matched what I had ordered. The install went smoothly. Upon turning on my Mac, instead of booting up I got a gray screen and 3 repeatable beeps. These sounded like "warning alerts", so I immediately shut down and tried to power up again - with the same result. I reopened my Mac and confirmed everything was done correctly by popping out the sticks and re-inserting to make sure the modules we're properly seated. Turned on the machine and got the same thing. Nervously, I re-installed the factory modules and (thankfully) my Mac booted up just fine. So does this mean that the memory I received is DOA? Is there anything else those 3 warning beeps might have been indicating? I'm 99 percent sure the memory I received is matched for my machine, so all I can assume is that it's faulty? Can anyone verify my assumption before I contact OWC to help me rectify the situation?
I have a store bought copy of iWork '08 and I have since bought office for mac. I no longer use iWork and i want to sell it on eBay, but when i was looking over the documents that came with it I noticed it had a product key included. Now I didn't think I ever put a product key in when I initially installed it so I tried installing it on my newer macbook (not the same macbook as it was originally installed on) and it never prompted me for a product key. I want to sell this copy and i'm pretty sure the key has never been used, but how do I find out if it has? Is it fine to sell to someone? If it doesn't prompt me for a key, does it mean it wont prompt them?
my Macbook Pro's display has been acting up. There's these little yellow squares that keeping popping up on my screen while scrolling through something. They then disappear as soon as I scroll up or down again or open a app, tab, etc.
I've a macbook pro retina display. I see in macintosh hd that yellow folder called "other" is getting bigger and bigger every day. i can't delete any folders because i don't know what they're about. if i open macintosh hd i find (in italian) two folders: "sistema" (maybe system in english) and "utenti" ( users ?). Both are 15Gb. I also see that in my girlfriend's macbook air yellow "other" is empty! how It's possible?
In "About My Apple" under the storage tab, what does the yellow bar "other" mean? Other takes up most of my storage and I'm out of space on my disc so I'd like to trash some things.
Anyone have a freezy iMac with less than 8GB of ram installed? I made a brief attempt to search the forums for an answer to this, but was unsuccessful.
I need to buy an install disc for my IbookG4. How can I determine whether my tiger 10.4 is a 10.4.2 or 10.4.6 or 10.4.11 etc? I don't have the owners manual.
Is there a way to determine what my home IP address is when I'm not at home? Here is the reason for the question: I'm using my iPad as a mobile platform when I don't need all the horsepower of my MBP. However, to allow myself access to my files, I have my home router set up to route the appropriate ports to allow me to VNC into my MBP from my iPad. It works like a charm... until my ISP changes my home IP address. That is precisely what happened, and because I needed to get access to certain files, I had to call a neighbor and ask to have them check [URL] from my network.
