I'm facing an issue with safari. Every time I try to start the app safari - alert window pops up, and I cannot really close it because when I do, it shows again and again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used iCal and now Calendar for many years. For every event, I choose to show "Message with Sound" for the alert. In the past few weeks, I noticed I no longer get any on-screen pop-up message. Not sure of the proper term for that, but my choice for each event is the same: "Message with Sound", so maybe it is called "message". I do get the sound alert, just am now missing the tiny even message window that used to pop up.Â
Here is an odd chain of events...
I looked in ~/Preferences to try trashing something, found only "com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist" as an obvious choice. I expected to find com.apple.Calendar.plist, but no such file. When I launched Calendar, it showed no change at all in any of my preference settings, and I do have several settings that are not default, such as "Start week on Monday" and "Alerts > Event: At time of event" instead of 15 minutes before.Â
After re-launching Calendar, I noticed a new file, "com.apple.Calendar.plist" appeared in ~/Preferences. I always use column view, so it isn't possible that i missed it before; this file was not there before. Nonetheless, the alert sounds with no message window issue continues. How to restore the alert window?

When I click on any website for anything....I have another tab or window popping up which has nothing to do with the original website that I am on. Why is this so? This is beginning to be real irritating. Secondly I also get this annoying video streaming alongside on youtube.

I have set safari 5.0 to open when i turn my mac on which it does (kind of). The bar at the top says Safari but to get the main window open i have to go to File>New Window.
How do i get it just to open straight away.
I have safari set to open up when I boot up my computer using the login items for my user account.
But when I start up my computer, instead of opening up a window, it starts up safari in the dock, but never actually opens a window. When I click on the icon in the dock the page will open up. Its acting as if I hid(CMD+H) the page. I know safari is open and it loaded the homepage, but the window wont actually open.
I've tried it on two different computers, Macbook pro, mac pro with same issue on both.
When we start up Safari, it is automatically trying to access a website http://weeklygiftwinner.com, and displays a window saying Congratulations! You have just qualified for a chance to win an iPhone 4S. Click OK for details (and an OK box is shown at the bottom of this window). There is no way to get out other than to force-quit Safair. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it. Even if I restart the computer, it just comes up again when I try to start up Safari?Â

When a video track begins, the iTunes window comes up, even if I've got iTunes hidden. (Note: it doesn't bring the iTunes application to the foreground; it just shows the iTunes window behind my current window.)Â
Clearly, this is not the behavior I want when it's _hidden_! ...But I can't find any way to stop this behavior
P.S. This is iTunes version 10.6.1(7) on OS 10.7.4. Also, I'm running SizzlingKeys 3.3.5, if that matters (there doesn't seem to be a preference in this app to control window behavior...).

When I open up Safari, I have it open to a designated home page.
HOWEVER, 9 times out of ten, if I click "log in" to the home page site, Mackeeper pops up.
I am running OS X Yosemite. Had my 15" MacBook Pro since it was new......2009.Â
Also, my sound does not always work. Through the lap top built in speakers, sometimes through a head set and sometimes through my bluetooth.
Sometimes videos will not play.

The problem started today, for no apparent reason. I was working with some programs open (not many) when my screen froze. Nothing worked, so I closed the laptop to see if it would return to the home page (where you type the password) soon after I heard the 'apple sound'. The computer was restarted, when opened, there was a gray folder with an white question mark flashing in the center of the screen. I restarted the computer again. Â
From this time he began to have symptoms that persist until now: Â
• Every time I do some action on any application the spinning beach ball appears and for a few seconds the program is locked.
• The top menu bar - where the icons are located ( bluetooth, dropbox, battery, spotlight, etc.) flashes every 40 seconds.
I use this computer for work and thus can hardly surf the internet.

every time i try to get on safari, it wont open.

i have no other browser, so i cant post the errors or whatever.
i tried deleting the safari.plist file, tried the disk utility, tried another account, just no luck.

I have a 2008 macbook, out of warranty. My mac is running os x 10.6.4... I recently updated the laptop through the update section, and this is around the time the errors began. My next stop is perhaps reinstalling the operating system, but have to go out and buy the disc so thought i would check all options first.
It has begun random shutdowns recently, and i have tried checking the ram, checking power supply, removing battery to see if its caused by that, but so far nothing has come up. A mate of mine said sometimes you can work out the problem by looking at the logs to see what is causing the problem... Well, long story cut short,
the log is as follows from when i turned it on this afternoon, till the random shutdown, and then powering it back up again, i put the exact shutdown time in bold.

For reasons I cannot understand, Safari 5.1.5 on Lion has begun to fail at start-up. On every occasion I try to start I get a page that says "Safari Quit Unexpectedly." The Problem Report suggests Restarting, but the same thing occurs. Should I uninstall Safari and reinstall from an Apple download?

This has happened to my laptop once before and I had to replace my hard drive. First of all I'm running Tiger 10.4.11 with Safari 4.1.3. Basically I'll just be online, using Safari and suddenly it "quits unexpectedly." There's no one thing that I do that makes this happen either. The same thing was happening a while back and it began happening more an more frequently until my computer wasn't running and I had to replace my hard drive. Now its happening again!

Problem with Time Capsule acting as a router for home Internet connection. It would lose it's WAN IP address after 5-10 minutes, sometimes longer. Rebooting the Time Capsule would fix it temporarily. Also, renewing the DHCP lease for the Time Capsule using the Airport Utility would bring it back instantly. It's a 500 GB Time Capsule and has 7.4.2 firmware. An update check says that that's the latest. I tried a factory settings reset. At first I thought it helped because it lasted more than 20 minutes afterward. But then did the same thing again.
Some background: Time Capsule faithfully did it's duty at another home for extended period of time without any known issues. At old home it was connected to a different cable modem - an RCA I believe. At the new home it's connected to an Arris modem that provides data and voice. For the first three or four hours it worked without issue, then it started losing it's connection (right about the time I was leaving )
The cable company tech had me believing that I had a glitchy Time Capsule. Now I think I have either a:
- incompatibility between the Time Capsule and the new Arris Telephony cable modem
- network conflict on the cable company's side of things. The Time Capsule was running connected to a different modem at a different address (and account, I believe).
- final choice is a glitchy Time Capsule.
(I first wrote this post on 9/30/10, at that time firmware 7.4.2 was current, now 7.5.2 is latest. I'm attempting to recreate the problem now. This happened at a client's home with their setup - I'm now hooking it up as my main router and using the same Arris Telephony modem. It's been running with my Arris Telephony modem on my Internet connection for over twelve hours without issue).
I installed apples latest software update yesterday - 6 items - and now safaris constantly quits after two or three minutes.

i had to get my screen replaced earlier this year under warranty and ever since then I have been receiving an error message on startup that pops up each time just within 5 minutes or so of logging in, and then lately my lappy has been randomly shutting down The error message states something about some extension vlabkernaladditions.kext not being found and needing to be re-installed or something. I will update this with the exact message on my next startup.Does anybody know anything about this??
