Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. Its pretty random can be 2 or 3 times in 5 minutes or can be evey half hour. Just got a MBP 13" installed snow leopard. In the background I have messenger for mac and entourage running it does not seem to coincide with new messsages or emails. Im using Firefox as browser, which is regularly freezing.

View 16 Replies View Relatedi have a problem browsing with safari on my macbook pro. i am able to launch safari and it loads my homepage. i can then browse from my homepage to a another page macrumors for instance. the problem occurs when i try to browse away from that page to another, macrumors to kvraudio for example. the page does not load. the blue progress bar across the address stops in the first position. safari then 'freezes' becomes unresponsive and then i have to force quit. i have never experienced a problem like this before. here are my macbook specs:

i am posting this via my old G5 with the same network config. which doesn't have this browsing problem nor does another networked iMac. can anyone recommend a course of action?
I was browsing a webpage with Safari when suddenly this really loud screeching sound came from my Macbook Air. I am not talking about the small clicks the HD seems to be doing once in a while. This was a very loud screeching sound, like someone cutting glass with a diamond. I didn't have any other programs on and my speakers were off. The sound lasted for about 2 seconds and got me very scared. I immediately checked the temperatures and fanspeeds but they were all normal (CPU around 45 celcius and fan about 2500 rpm). Now I'm afraid that it was my HD and it will fail on me sooner or later. Everything seems to be work normally now but I already sent all my important documents to another computer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my MBP for about a year and recently I noticed that when I open Safari or Firefox it takes FOREVER to load a page.Even a small page like Google! I tried a reset for both browsers but that didn't help.I did some maintenance but no help there either.
This is my first Mac so I wanted to ask if I'm missing something.. should I be doing something maintenance-like that I'm not?
My new 13 inch MacBook Pro keeps on freezing. I'm only on iTunes and FireFox. Anybody else have these problem?.

My newest discovery is that when my computer freezes up what ever sound is playing makes a skipping noise and then I have to kill power to shut off what is the cause or how can I find out is there any log I can run or check to see the last action process that went on?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am Using a new Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. After having used, and been pleased with Firefox for years now, I find that it just isn't up to snuff on this system. It's super slow most of the time (whereas Safari isn't). It isn't optimized for some websites, like eBay.. Can't upload photos using Firefox. And each time I try to quit Firefox, I have to go in and manually "Force Quit" Because it freezes and won't quit on its own.

THREE REPAIRS IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS> so i was downloading a game for my psp when i went to go get a bagel in the kitchen. i left for no less than a minute and when i came back the screen was black. i thought it just dimmed itself but no. i moved the trackpad clicked on all buttons click the mouse button everything. i noticed the light wasnt throbbing so im sure it wasnt sleeping. the light was just pure white(the sleep light) so i waited like 3 minutes than shut it down. do u know whats happening. i know now i will be getting it replaced but until then im trying to keep it working well enough that i can watch a ********** vid on youtube.

A few days ago, I started to get a triple alarm sound (beep, plus battery indicator light flashes three times) and the system freezes (no keyboard or trackpad input, screen stays on). The triple beep continues until I shut it off through the power button.

I am having a constant laptop freeze issue with both Safari and Firefox. Laptop freeze occurs upon page load followed by most laptop functions being rendered unresponsive and a forced power reboot becomes necessary. In most cases, the cursor remains the only active item on the desktop and I am sometimes able to click on other open applications and bring them forward but that is the limit of their functionality. I can't force quit them via keyboard command either and the system clock is almost always frozen.
During the forced power reboot, the laptop does not seem to go through a permissions correction process (i.e., the long delay that you experience during gray apple screen start-up.) The reboot process is fairly quick and sometimes the only abnormality occasionally noted after reboot is that the desktop background has gone back to a default setting. Not sure if related but sometimes the iTunes library is damaged and has to be rebuilt if application was open prior to freeze. I've run complete diagnostics via Disk Utility, fsck, Applejack and TechTool Pro and no problems are noted.

I'd switched to Firefox a year or two ago from Safari after some frustration with Safari's bugs...but since I'd updated to Firefox 3.0.7 it has become ridiculously slow. Here's a typical scenario: Opening Firefox is no problem. Google page appears in a jiffy. But as soon as I clear the address bar and attempt to type in a URL, the beachball comes and Firefox literally freezes for a few minutes, even making it hard for me to switch to any other app that's open. I attempt to type in a complete URL regardless, and it takes Firefox forever to receive the input. The only way I can describe it is like the computer was typing in super-slow motion.
On top of that, I can hear this intermittent "grind/whir" sound of the processor while it lags, I suppose struggling to process the input. BTW, if I clicked on any of the bookmarked pages in the bar beneath the addy bar, it goes directly to them w/o problem. It's only when I attempt to type anything in the address bar that the lag occurs. This has become a total frustration of mine, especially now that I'm doing web design and need Firefox's Firebug add-on to identify CSS elements on the fly in the midst of tight deadlines. In the meantime, Safari works, but it doesn't have that feature.
I used to have a name on this site but haven't used it in 4 or 5 years so I had to create a new one. Anyway, I started having a problem with Safari today. Every time I would go to ESPN or gmail it would freeze up, the spinning rainbow would come up and I would have to force quite the app. I thought it may just be a problem with Safari so I downloaded the latest FireFox and Chrome and to my surprise they began freezing up too doing the same thing. I've got a 13" MBP w/ the 2.53 GHz Core 2 duo and 4GB RAM. I ran a software update yesterday afternoon/evening when prompted to, but didn't check to see what it was. I do know it was one that didn't force me to do a restart.

I am using boot camp to have Windows XP on my macbook and I was able to run the internet on Windows with no problem untill yesterday, it keeps saying that the wireless signal is very good, but when i go to the explorer it just wont load anypage anymore, says to verify the connection, on my mac it's running perfectly, what could it be ?

There is no sound when a video is playing in a browser, for example Utube, GoogleVideo, etc. That is so with all the browsers - Safari, Firefox, Navigator, Wyzo, etc. However the sound does play when playing a video under a normal video player - QuickTime Player, VLC, RealPlayer, etc.

Last night I installed Windows Vista to run a game on here, but I got several issues. I already installed the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD, but the problems still persist.
The issues are:
1. Sound is very very low and uneven. I have the volume all the way maxed, but the loudest it can go is less than half than the potential volume in Snow Leopard.
2. Headphones don't work. I've tried like 3 pairs of headphones and none of them work. When I plug them in, the sound still comes from the left speaker (I can barely hear the right speaker) on the laptop and not on the headphones. Also, the headphone jack is emitting a red light out of it.
3. The lights on the keyboard won't shut off. I used the F5 key to turn off the keyboard backlighting, and while it goes very dim they won't shut off.
I already tried the suggestions on this thread but none of those fixes work. I need help! Especially with the sound! Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running a MacBook Pro 13" from June 2009, 2.26GHz Intel, 4GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 9400M. I instlled a 64bit version of Windows Vista (OEM).
Anyone have a fix? Sound is waaaay too low.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
Any ideas to would i could try to do?
I was just watching some youtube videos, and suddenly the video stopped working, I then refreshed it and the sound was gone. First I thought this was only in the youtube player, but now that I've tested both windows media player (which actually, for some reason, couldn't play ANYTHING whatsoever) and the volume control. I haven't tried a restart though, even though this may fix the problem, it's doesn't permanently resolve it. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And is there a fix for it, or is it just windows ****ing with me, as always?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't like Firefox 11 one bit and am yearning for 3.6. I read online to drag firefox 11 to trash and that, of course did nothing to actually uninstall. I then dowloaded 3.6 and 'installed' that, restarted but still firefox 11 lives on in my computer.

I recently put XP on my mac with bootcamp. When I put the OSX install disk in, install all of the drivers up to the sound driver and then restarts without finishing. I have no sound probably because of this. Any ideas?

I have everything up and running except I believe there's a sound quality issue. When I play music on the Mac OS side it seems very clear and precise. However, when music is played via Windows the sound seems to have deteriorated, almost hollow or more muffled?
Has anybody else experienced this? Is this normal for Windows or this a driver issue?
