I am using boot camp to have Windows XP on my macbook and I was able to run the internet on Windows with no problem untill yesterday, it keeps saying that the wireless signal is very good, but when i go to the explorer it just wont load anypage anymore, says to verify the connection, on my mac it's running perfectly, what could it be ?

Once, after installing windows, the same problem occurred. I'm not sure whether this version doesn't support airport (ubuntu v10.04.1) or I need the snow leopard drivers (but I can't because it's a .exe file).

The problem is, all of a sudden it will cut out and stop working after awhile, then I have to select and repair my connection to get it to work again. I know its super vague but thats all I got.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently own a Macbook I purchased in January 2009. A few days ago I installed Boot Camp Agent so I could use it to play certain games I could not run using Parallels. I downloaded Boot Camp following the directions it comes with. (Installed Windows XP Pro, then installed Mac OSX Leopard 10.5). Everything works fine except I cannot figure out how to use the wireless network established in my home.
On the Mac side, I can connect to the internet with the Airport fine, never have a problem on that side. When switched to the Windows side I have no wireless options. Though I can use the internet when using an ethernet cable connected directly to my router (Linksys WRT110). I have read soo many forum posts and nothing I have read has helped so far. When I go to Network Connections and Properties, I do not have a Wireless Network Connection tab.
I really hope someone has an answer to this because this is really annoying. Right now my Macbook is connected to the internet via my wireless router but as soon as I want to load bootcamp and switch to windows 7 I have no internet connection. I have tried to follow this [URL] website in resolving the problem but as soon as I get to STEP 2 I get this message in the window "MMC could not create the snap-in." This message is making me unable to proceed to the other steps and it appears it locked me out so I'm unable to edit anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen searching and can't find the answer here. I setup Bootcamp last week and had internet connection and everything working fine. I've setup Parallels now as well and I am connecting to the Bootcamp partition with this via OS X.
So, everything is working well, I can view my local websites on Leopard via Parallels, the only thing that has stopped working is my wireless internet connection in windows.
My only guess is the Bootcamp is now connecting to everything via my OS X connections, but not sure. Does anyone know how to set the wireless internet up again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reinstall the OS, and got into Internet Recovery mode, and got a list of Wifi networks to select, but my own was not one of them. I even clicked "Other" (or something like that) to enter the SSID and passphrase, but that was rejected. I am now piggy-backing on a nearby wifi, with all the risks that entails. Why won't my Mac see my own Wifi? (Everything else in the house sees "five bars", including my wife's Macbook Air and my iPhone.)

i have had an issue with my macbook recently where i am connected to the router but my internet does not work, it works in other locations except fro my home. it works wirelessly and my iphone and other wireless devices are all fine its just the macbook, any ideas as i am lost on this one.
View 17 Replies View RelatedAnyways, i used to have a Linksys wrt54g router. It was hooked up and had an SSID of linksys. Later replaced it with i think the wrt110n or whatever the 110 draft N model number is. This router was set up and the wrt54g taken down (no longer plugged in at all). The wrt110n has an SSID of hawkes, and everything works fine but after browsing for an hour or so I will loose internet connection.
When I click the airport icon in the status bar it tells me that I am connected to a network called "linksys". I have to then click to reconnect to hawkes which is the network that I should be on.
Now I'm not sure if there is someone else broadcasting an unencrypted wireless network with the SSID linksys and my mac is just trying to connect to it at times or if it is getting confused and trying to connect to an old network?
I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems or if anyone knows how I could tell the airport utility to "forget" about old networks with the name linksys so it will stop trying to connect to them?
Loading web pages on my Mac Dual G5 is painfully slow, maybe 5-10 seconds to load a popular website (like this one, e.g.).
I'm running Safari v. 3.2.3, but the problem occurs with other browsers like Firefox and Camino.
I also have a Macbook Pro connected by ethernet to same router (Airport), running Safari 4.0.2, and it's just as slow as the desktop Mac.
My ISP is cable and various speed tests show download/upload speeds of 20 Mbps/2 Mbps. I have a PC running Windows Vista on same LAN, connected to same router, and it browses blazingly fast. So the problem is not ISP or modem.
As a lifelong Mac user, I hate to say this, but I'm jealous of my PC!
What could be the issue(s) and fix?

quite often, when I'm looking at a web page or something on the internet, the page doesn't load. It will get the first part of a bar in Safari but it will stay there for minutes and then go to one of those white screens.

Never had any major problems with the computer itself I am currently living in Korea, and thus have very highspeed internet. However, on my Mac, it is running quite slow. There is no modem that I can reset, because the apartment building is already wired so my ethernet cable connects directly into the wall. A friend came over to test the connection (speedtest.net) with his PC and he was downloading 60,000 KBPS, when I plugged in my MAC I was downloading at 15,000 KBPS. He downloads various things at around 2mb/s and I sometimes only get 50 kb/s.

my problem is that the powermac drops the internet connection sporadically. as in its still on the network with a router connection just not receiving internet data. it can also not be accessed remotely by the iphone while this is happening. almost like a false report of being on the network. network prefs show an green light and the proper ip addy, and both the iphone and xp box are still on the network and receiving internet. the only way i have found to remedy the problem is to turn off airport and then turn it back on from the menu bar. this is not accetable. only a temporary solution. especially since i like to access the network from the "outside" (ie other computers, or my iphone on the road). i have no idea what to do bout it. i don't even really understand what the underlying problem is
not sure whats going on, when im browsing on firefox its goes really really slow, been doing it since thursday. any idea what i can do to figure out whats going on?
View 16 Replies View Relatedmy imac duo core, 2ghz, 2gig ram started slowing down a few months ago. it is connected by airport extreme router. the airport signal shows half of what it used to be but nothing has changed from before. if fact i brought my macbook pro right next to it and that has full strength and fast browsing. speed tests at the same site shows 400kbs-800kbs for the i mac, and over 2mbs for the macbook pro. in the same location and 30 seconds apart. both are running os 10.5.6
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlmost daily, I will be in the middle of browsing the internet and pages will just stop loading. Following this, any already-opened application I click on will freeze, including Finder. If I try to open any new applications, the icon will bounce over and over in the Dock but never open. If I close my web browser and try to reopen it, it tells me that there is already a copy of the browser running and I cannot open another one. The only way to remedy this I have found is to hold down the power button and shut off the computer. Once I turn the computer back on, everything runs normally. I originally though it may have been my web browser (Google Chrome) so I recently switched to Firefox, and the problem still persists. It is extremely annoying.

Browsing the internet on my PowerBook G4 is incredibly slow.
I have 3 browsers installed (Firefox, Safari and IE) and it's the same for all of them.
I'm on a 512k ADSL broadband connection and using the built in ethernet port. Browsing is slower than on 56k dial up! My housemate is connected via the same router to 2 different PCs and he has no problems.
Strangely, on my mac, email and ftp uploading don't seem especially slow.
After months of an incredibly slow internet connection @ home I finally discovered the problem. I have a MacBook Air 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. It can connect to any wireless network at home, school, office, etc. However, when at home I connect my Macbook Air to a 23" Apple Cinema Display (ACD) the internet goes from 1500 Kbps to 60 Kbps. Not believing the reason I have tried it several times and there is no other factor. At home I use a 2701HG-T 2Wire router.
Updates:
1) I do not have a network adapter so I can't know if the same would happen with Ethernet.
2) The problem exists whether with my MBA is opened or closed.
3) I do not change the location of my MBA when I connect it to the ACD.
I've had my MBP for about a year and recently I noticed that when I open Safari or Firefox it takes FOREVER to load a page.Even a small page like Google! I tried a reset for both browsers but that didn't help.I did some maintenance but no help there either.
This is my first Mac so I wanted to ask if I'm missing something.. should I be doing something maintenance-like that I'm not?
I just installed Windows 7 on my bootcamp. I put in the Snow Leopard in to install the drivers but it didn't install the airport card. I checked device manager> network adapters and the airport card is not there. Does anyone know where I can download the drivers for the airport card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet.As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. Its pretty random can be 2 or 3 times in 5 minutes or can be evey half hour. Just got a MBP 13" installed snow leopard. In the background I have messenger for mac and entourage running it does not seem to coincide with new messsages or emails. Im using Firefox as browser, which is regularly freezing.

I am saying slower than what I see on my PeeCee (Used for gaming such as CSS and Half-Life)! So, I set out on a Google journey to find that a lot of people have been having the same problem with they Airport. It seems that in some Apple updates, the Airports are having issues. So, I tried to fix it and I came up with this wonderful guide. My internet now loads Facebook in 3 sec instead of the 30 sec it was before and I can watch my good old YouTube videos in a flash.
First, Open your "System Preferences";
Next, go to your "Network" settings;
From there, make sure Airport is highlighted and click "Configure";
Click the "TCP/IP" tab;
Type 4.2.2.1 into the blank DNS Servers box, hit return and type 4.2.2.2 then click the "Apply Now" button like so;
Your internet may restart, but it will come back on right after you hit Apply! And your internet should now return to speeds like it used to have. I am running 10.4.10 and I am proud to say my Internet is fast as hell.
So I got a PowerBook G4(1.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM, a superdrive, and an airport card) for Christmas. Before I opened it as a present, my cousin did a clean install of Leopard. My wireless internet goes out every time I try to go to a new page or even refresh it. It's extremely annoying. In order to get it back on, I have to turn my airport card off, and then on again. I was thinking it was my airport card, but then the other day, I went out of town to a friends house.
My internet didnt go out once. I just got back today, and it keeps going out. My home internet is locked with a password, but my friends internet wasn't. However, I previously had a PC laptop and the internet was fine, my cousin has a MacBook Pro, and my brother just got a MacBook. All of them connect to the internet wirelessly and they don't have any problem with their internet. I don't know what to do.
