Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp Sound?
Oct 16, 2009I've recently installed Windows XP SP3 in bootcamp on my iMac so i could play some windows games, and there's one problem: the sound is coming out of the built in speakers with a horrible noise in the back instead of from the speakers i have plugged in. The RealTek driver recognizes that the speakers are plugged in, but doesn't use them. Now I've tried to connect my ipod headphones, and they don't work either! What sould I do?

Jan 21, 2010I have tried everything to get this motor running. I've spent so many hours on this, and now I've simply given up and hope that someone here can help me, before I go out and kill myself in pure frustration.
I don't have any sound at all after having installed Windows XP on my iMac 24. I have tried two different versions. One with SP3, and currently one with SP2. Since I read that a lot of people had trouble with the HD audio in SP3, and the fix didn't do anything for me, I figured I might as well try SP2.
Who cares, right. This doesn't work either though. I've downloaded the fix refered elsewhere on this site, and reinstalled the drivers. I have disabled, reenabled, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated and so forth so many times I've lost count. I think the Windows I'm running now is the fourth reinstall of windows, and I'm absolutely lost.
What's even worse is that I have an external sound card, a presonus firebox, which I have also tried to install several times. I reckonned that it might help to install an external sound card. But even this doesn't work. The light is blue, when I'm installing drivers, and updating firmware, but goes red after this. But whatever. If I can just get the standard output working.
Probably a very n00bish question, but would it matter, that I'm using a friends Leopard disc, which is used for a laptop? This, the fact that it's not my own disc, is really the only thing that haven't fit exactly into all the guides, and troubleshooting.
Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp Sound Is None Existant?
Feb 21, 2009I literally registered to these forums 3 minutes ago, so if this has already been covered and solved than it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.
When installing the necessary drivers from the Leopard install disc I get an error reading something to the tune of "another instance of this install is already in progress.
Please try again when it is finished." Now, that is not exact, but it's pretty close. I've learned that this message is tied to the audio drivers needed for Windows, and I've confirmed that by going into the control panel and seeing that the system does not register any sort of audio input or output.
I've tried a few google solutions for this problem, including: downloading some sort of Windows patch, downloading drivers from the Realteck(I think that was it) website and reinstalling the drivers from the DVD. None of those has fixed the problem, and I continue to get the same error but of course see no other "instance" running on my machine.

Feb 6, 2010there i have a macbook pro and i have recently installed windows vista 32 on it using boot camp. also recently i have updated boot camp to 3.1 and my sound seems to have stopped working.
Although the red light in my headphone jack is gone my speaker icon on the right hand corner has a x on it and i cannot hear anyhting now. i have cheaked my sound driver and it is up to date cirrus logic cirrus logic cs4206a
Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp Sound On Vista Side?
Aug 14, 2009Everything seems to be working well except there is no sound from speakers on the Vista side. Still OK on Mac (of course).
I have iMac 3.06gHz
Checked that sound is not muted etc.
It does seem to have two volume controls (Vista) in the dock? One Realtek and one Mixer. Neither are muted. Device Manager says all is ok and running latest software.
One other small matter is that I can't seem to load a network adapter. It finds new hardware everytime I open but can't find any software and as I don't know what I'm looking for I am sort of stuck.

Mar 15, 2009When I'm playing games, like Supreme Commander and Oblivion, sometimes the screen locks up and the sound starts skipping, like a scratched CD. Does anyone have a fix for this or have the same problems?

Nov 21, 2010In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.
So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

Jan 16, 2009I have a 2.0ghz unibody macbook, and i installed windows xp on the boot camp partition, installed drivers, up until here everything was working fine.. i decided it would be a good idea to upgrade to bootcamp 2.1 and then suddenly the boot camp icon in my system tray went away,
and so did the nvidia panel and the sound no longer worked.. now im stuck and i have no sound. I tried reinstalling the drivers using the cd and it still doesnt work.. also when i remove my headphones there is a red light coming from the jack.. how do i get my sound back?
Windows On Mac :: Possibly Fatal Boot Camp Error / Unable To Boot Windows
Jul 14, 2009In my attempt to install Windows XP via Boot Camp, I accidentally inserted an SP1 disc instead of the SP2 disc that I have. The installation proceeded to the point where it does for most who attempt this: the screen where you are prompted to press ENTER. I could not proceed and therefore restarted the iMac and held down the mouse button upon start-up to remove the CD.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM:I can not boot into OS X because the keyboard shortcuts (those that might allow me to select which partition to boot from and/or reset PRAM) seem to be disabled. Instead, a reboot always ends at a black screen with a blinking DOS-esque cursor, or the prompt: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key."
I have attempted inserting my SP2 disc at this point, to no avail. My keyboard seems to be disabled, as if the SP1 install proceeded just enough to establish itself as the boot drive without drivers for the keyboard. I've tried using all 3 USB ports, disconnecting other USB devices. Oddly, my bluetooth mouse works to eject the CD on reboot...
OS X :: Boot Camp And Mac Pro Sound Through Speakers
Nov 17, 2007in the days of Boot Camp Beta (using XP and Vista back then), I'm getting NO SOUND through my external speakers, connected to line out. Sound does come through the internal speaker.
Now using XP SP2. All of Apple's drivers are installed and reinstalled.

Here's the situ:
32Gb Boot Camp partition created and installed XP SP2 from original disc.
Inserted Mac Pro DVD to install the driver set (which was Boot Camp 2.1)
Everything working correctly, except the sound - which comes out both the Mac Pro internal speaker and the LEFT channel of my external amplifier.Everything working fine through Mac OS X as expected.
In Windows, I can change the audio out device from Realtek Audio out to the USB audio (which is the Apple Cinema Display speakers) but this is far from ideal for games, which is the only reason I'm installing XP. I have installed XPSP3 since and found a more up to date Realtek HD audio driver for XP, but no change.
Has anyone experienced this? I may try to install XP again, install XPSP3, then install all the drivers manually as required to see if that changes anything.
MacBook Pro :: Boot Camp Windows XP ?
Jan 12, 2010I've installed and reinstalled xp and vista on bootcamp. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. The forums don't help either.
The drivers are all recognized. The only sounds I hear are the noise when windows boots up, and a clicking noise when I mute or unmute the computer. Nothing else. Anybody have any suggestions? Please help
Mac Mini :: Boot Camp, No Sound Through Internal Or Stereo Out
May 9, 2012I'm trying to set up a dual boot, Windows 7 64-bit and Lion install on a 2011 Mac Mini. I have Windows installed and completely up to date, with up to date Boot Camp drivers. Unfortunately, I get no sound from the internal speaker or by plugging headphones or speakers into the speaker jack. I do hear the startup chime on boot, and have sound in OS X. Windows thinks it has the right driver for the sound card, and lists Speakers - High Definition Audio Device in the Playback tab of the Sound control panel, and it is the default device. If I click "Test" the level bounces as if sound is being output, but I hear nothing.
As a test, I found I do get sound out of the HDMI port when I plug it into my TV, but this computer will need to be in an office with either stereo speakers attached or using the built in speakers in the mini.

I created a Boot Camp Partition (an entire drive, actually) and installed XP. The install went off without a hitch ... Except, having rebooted to Mac OS X (10.6.1) there is no way to boot Windows again. Going to Preferences->Boot Disk shows no Book Camp bootable drive.
MacBook Pro :: Windows 7 X64 Partition On Boot Camp?
Oct 30, 2009I used Boot Camp to install Win 7 x64 on a partition, and I got the OS and the drivers to work just fine. (I also have it installed on a Parallels Virutal machine, but I needed the dedicated partition for work.)
My only problem is that when I boot into Win 7, I get a screen that has a cursor flashing for about 2 and a half minutes. After that time, the Windows logo appears and it boots just fine. Is this common, or am I missing something here? It behooves me that it takes around 3 to 3 and a half minutes for Win 7 to boot up after hitting the power button.

Dec 25, 2008This is the 1st time i got a Mac , i bought a black Macbook 2.4GHz some days ago .
I installed Windows Vista Ultimate using Boot Camp , and all went smoothly .
Only 1 prob is when restarting , i have to wait too long for the Windows to log on , i think about 1min with the black screen.
And if i want to boot in Mac OS , i have to push down the D button or the Alt, it takes quite a long time too .
So do you guys have any solution to this problem ? I want to get rid of the waiting time, way too much.
And do you know how to make my Macbook jump right in the choosing section when it starts ? ( so that i dont have to push down any button when it starts )

I tried holding the command key when rebooting but it just goes into the windows part. Looks like windows took over. Does anybody know how I can get it to boot in Leopard?

Jul 6, 2010Have the new 15" MBP with i7 Processor. I had another MBP with a 7200RPM drive and installed drive in the new i7 Mac. Computer was working fine until I installed Windows via Boot Camp. I can't boot to the Mac Partition any more, the partition is there but when you try to boot to it you just see the Apple logo and NO circle. I cannot boot to the install CDs or a bootable external drive. I target disk mode the computer and used another computer to boot using the drive in the i7 unit and it's fine and I can see all the information. I tried booting the i7 into single user mode and saw the following message:

Dec 21, 2010I installed Windows 7 to my macbook pro simply using the boot camp assistant, then again simply I deleted the windows partition. I cannot access to windows but every time I open my mac, it tries to open windows and a black screen comes, saying that I need to insert a disc or something like that.

Jun 15, 2009I just set up my new MacBook Pro 13-inch with Boot Camp. Initially I put Windows 7 RC on it, but I couldn't get the audio control function keys to work. Figuring Win 7 is probably quirky, I figured I'd drop back to Vista for now until 7 is officially supported. (Interesting how easy Apple makes it to annihilate a Boot Camp partition. :) So now I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 running with no issues. All the Boot Camp drives and utilities seem to be working. However, with all the sounds cranked to max in Windows, and using the F12 key, the volume is very quiet. Probably less than half of what I can get in OS X.

Jun 13, 2012I am trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my MacBook Pro purchased late 2011 and running Lion. The Windows software was purchased online and downloaded. I then copied the .iso file to a dvd. When I try and install Windows through Boot Camp it doesn't recognize that there is a disk in the drive to install Windows. I sure hope I didn't waste my money. Has anyone installed Windows 7 from a OEM download?
