MacBook Pro :: Computer Appears To Have Mind Of Its Own?
May 21, 2012
I'm using a MacBook Pro, purchased in 2008, running Lion 10.7.4. My problem is that my cursor is jumping all over the place, will occasionally block out a section of text and then erase it, or the cursor will jump up to other points in my text, having me type into words already formed!! It has been a struggle to type this little bit of information. Tried restarting and zapping PRAM. Not sure what else to do. HELP. Is it on the way out?
My MacBook Pro is new (6 weeks old), and I'm an old Mac user.   The trackpad worked fine for the first few weeks but now has it's own ideas on how it should work. Â
Sometimes it scrolls, sometimes it just sticks in one place and the only way to scroll the screen is by hitting the up or down arrows.  Can't even raise the scrolly thingy on the right side of the page.   My Preferences are all ticked, for Scrolling and Taps too. Â
Often I get a pop up menu when I am just clicking on something. For ex, in my yahoo email account, if I hit a box to tag an email for deletion, instead of the tick mark I get the Open popup menu.  Sometimes I get another menu.  Weird, no rhyme or reason to which pops up.  OK, I just got the little menu to Insert Link/Insert Image etc.  Two finger scrolling.  Now I am trying to scroll down to submit this note, I get the menu that starts with Cut Copy Paste etc. Like i said, no rhyme or reason, to what menu pops up - even though I'm just 2 finger scrolling.  Crap, now I cannot scroll down to get to the actions, to submit this. I'll keep trying. Â
Running 10.7.3Â
Any ideas or is a trip to the Genius Bar in order?  This is intermittant but increasing in frequency and obviously very annoying. Â
I scanned another thread on trackpads, sure seem to be a lot of people with trackpad issues but I didn't find the issues I'm experiencing.Â
The only thing that showed up in disk utility were the DVD drive (Matshita DVD...) and the actual Mac OS X installation disc. I realize I could try and simply re-install Mac OS X, but I have a research paper (as well as lots of songs and photos) that hasn't been backed up and I will lose it if I reinstall. What can I do?!
Not sure if it's the right place, but my MacBookPro is showing storage memory of ca.500GB almost full. Checked fotos, movies, music, apps, etc. and they are under 50GB in total.
Appears Java is not installed on my MacBook Pro. How can I verify this? If not installed where do I go to get the proper download? I have a late 2011 Mac OS X version 10.7.3.
I'm trying to re-install my Machintosh OS X software and for that i reboot my mac and press alt or comand-R. All normal until here. But instead the menu of recovery appears, a lock screen whith a password ask appears. I try all passwords that i use or used too unlock my Mac, but nothing work.

I have a disfunction on my screen as soon as i turn it on nothing appears and the screen is all black, I tried to restart it several times but it is still the same , nothing happens.
I just burned 3-4 dvds and when trying to burn the last one my Macbook wouldn't recognize it- when inserted the blank DVD no icon appears on desktop- and after a few minutes, it ejects.
I tried a few different dvds to be sure it wasn't one faulty one. Also restarted the computer and also reset the System preferences for CD/DVD.
A few months ago, I bought a macbook pro and it was doing fine. But recently, every time it starts, a blue screen appears for a split second then it goes to log- in. Then, every time I shutdown, it will also show up for a split second then shutdown. It doesn't affect the computer but I'm just wondering how to stop it.
all About 20mins ago a shortcut appeared in my Finder sidebar, for something called Untitled CD. Instead of having an eject button next to it, like an actual cd would have, this has a black and yellow wheel next to it. This is of particular annoyance to me, as i am now unable to burn any CD's. Instead a message pops up saying burn is currently in use by another program. I have tried everything to delete it, but it just wont go! Whats more interesting is that I have a macbook air, and the icon appears even when my external dvd drive isn't plugged in.
I have a message that pops up and disappears before I can get a chance to read it. I figured it may be an issue with an application since MS office 11 is installed and was running at the times also, before a reminder pops up a message appears. I fear there may be a potential issue with the OS or an application.
I purchased a brand spanking new MacBook Pro through the online Apple Store on 27th March and i have been loving it! Today i noticed a rather scary looking "smudge" which appears be an imperfection in the screen. I never noticed this before - only recently! Of course now i know its there its really bugging me! Where do i stand? Ive got a email "invoice" i can print off as proof of purchase but i dont really like the idea of sending my MacBook off to apple! If i book it into the Genuis Bar and take it into my local Apple Store... what are they likely to do considering im outside the 14-day period? Ive got the standard 1 year limited warrantly but not sure if this covers it?
i just move to dominican republic and here you guys dont have apple store i have macbook pro and A flashing question mark appears when start my Mac i have lion cd and everything is any way i can do to fix my computer
Today when I turned on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 model) , the apple logo appeared as normal, but then the spinning gear and a progress bar appeared under it. Now everytime in turn my computer on, this progress bar will appear, get to about the 2/3 mark and then the computer will abruptly turn off. I have read articles about this saying that I have to format my hard drive. I want to know if there is a way to fix this problem with out having to format my hard drive.
I´m not sure of what has happened but I was snapping a photo, and it appear "to improve the quality pleaser click on shift R, and nothing has happened, and after that all the images of all the webs appears as low resolution... before this everything was correct..
I desperately need to update my MacBook Air -- however - when I attempt to do so, the login window appears - and it has my OLD email account from YEARS ago, not the one associated with this computer. If I go to iTunes - the correct email address for my account appears. If I go into my settings - the email address is correct. I don't get it -- it's the right email address associated with this computer and my APPLE ID account - but when I try to perform my software updates - it has an OLD unused email account in the APPLE ID box, and it is NOT changeable -- you can't click on it or change it in any way.Â
When I start up my macbook pro white and black lines appear for the startup screen in bunches. After that the screen is black but the keyboard is lit up and you can still hear the sounds of turning up the volume and music can still play.Â
I am using MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3. After an update of OS X, I cannot open pdf within Safari, It appears a gray screen. I tried several procedures in the forums, delete the plugin, restart, etc, but nothing.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Fail open PDF in Safari
