that I'm sure it's going to break. I am right aren't I? These keyboards don't last the entire life o' the computer.Also I'm concerned about the finite read/write cycles. is there something that will do wear leveling/TRIM for me? What's the average life expectancy of these drives?

Is there any way to safely remove the key and clean it?2nd: Bootcamp isn't working very well. After installing Windows XP without problems, the Leopard disk isn't working right. Is there an easy way to fix this? Everything else works perfectly fine except those keys. When i press the delete caps lock comes on.
View 10 Replies View RelatediTunes is playing and I hit the play/pause key (F8) the entire keyboard will go dark, but only if I'm pausing. it doesn't do it when I'm hitting the button to resume a song, only when I'm using it to pause one. the backlight sometimes takes minutes to come back on, at random, and sometimes it doesn't and I just have to turn it back on myself.

For example, when Finder asks me whether I want to open a downloaded file from the internet, and I want to say "No", I want to be able to press left and press enter and that'll be it. Instead, I have to use my mouse to click on No.
Is there a way to do this? I went to System Prefs, Keyboards, and clicked on All Controls, but that wasn't the solution.
I got my refurbed 2.4 unibody MB less than 2 weeks ago and just took it to the Apple Store because the very far right side of my spacebar stopped working, and I had a few slanted keys in various places on the keyboard too. The genius at the store told me they needed to replace the top case (metal chassis w/keyboard & trackpad built-in?) and it would take 3-5 days.Anybody else had problems with slanted keys OTHER than the function row? Anybody else had a top case replacement for this or other reasons?I'm nervous that I'm going to get my MB back and the new top case will be installed crooked or worse than the old one. Or the hard drive will be wiped and I'll have to re-install all my programs and iTunes/iPhoto libraries. I was loving the MB, with the spacebar failure being the only real problem... worried it's going to come back more messed up than it was. Am I just being paranoid?

There are a variety of options that can be used when you boot the Mac, such as hold down the C key to boot from a CD/DVD, hold down the option key to choose the boot drive, etc. When you have a BT keyboard, it doesn't connect until it is booted. How do you get the iMac to recognize, say, the Option key?

Is it possible to do this without using an interface in the audio setup or ? I tried just connecting it via USB with the keyboard driver installed, but my computer doesn't see it.

I'm guessing that #1 won't spin down the Hard Disks unless #3 is checked? Is that right? I'm also guessing that if I'm downloading a file or securely deleting the trash my iMac won't go to sleep? The reason I ask is because it seems like if I'm deleting the trash and my display goes to sleep, when I come back to the computer i really don't see any progress. What options do you guys typically use? I keep my iMac on 24/7, but didn't know about the first sleep option.
I'm planning to buy a 17" matt MBP 2010. So far I've used a few laptops which I carry in a backpack (Lowepro Computekker Plus AW) together with cameras and lenses. Each one but the last one - Lenovo Thinkpad - had the same problem; beacause there is high pressure on the computer (glass weights over 12kgs), the keyboard keys left traces on he screen surface - not just dust - the plastic from keys was on the screen for good. The Lenovo is the firsts one not affected by that.
Can anyone who uses this MBP 17" matt 2010 (and treats it as bad as me) tell me how it looks in this case?
I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner
I just blew out my old tiny keyboard that came with my iMac. I went out today and bought a new full sized keyboard from Best Buy with the alphanumeric keys. I followed the instructions which read:  Setting up your keyboardPlug the USB cable from your keyboard into an available USB port on your MacChoose Apple>Software Update from the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions.When installation is complete and you've restarted you Mac, use Software Update again to make sure all of the available updates are installed.Â
I followed these instructions, and the best that I got told is that my iTunes was out of date, which I updated. My keynboard is working (obviously, I was able to post this), but it isn't recognizing the new placement of the volume buttons and such. Â

I've done a general search but am coming up empty. Is there a way to loop a video (e.g., DVD) on my Mac, but lock the keyboard to prevent others from fooling around with the computer while the video is running? I'm going to a convention/fair and would like interested people to look at a video, but not to mess around with the laptop.

It can be done by clicking the master tab, then going to the Input 1-2 column setting and then clicking setting - mastering, etc.When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc.Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.
Once in a while the trackball or the keyboard loses its connection to the computer. On the computer being controlled, I launch Windows 7 through Parallels Desktop Mac version 6. Once the VM is launched, for some reason it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard as it will not allow me to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
