I just realized that I only had magnets on the left side when closing the lid. Is it normal? Do you have the same thing?

Recently made the switch to Mac from PC - after over 12 years of exclusively, intensively using PC. Already I'm loving my MBP, and I've been trying to pick up as many nifty shortcuts as I can.
I couldn't figure out this one: Is there a way to close an individual Firefox tab by clicking it in conjuction with pressing a key? This way, I won't have to go straight to the "x" every single time when using the mouse. Cmd+W works, but only on immediate screen. I used to simply middle click to close a tab, but my new mouse's wheel button sucks!
is there a way to open all tabs in a bookmark folder at once without having Safari automatically close the ones already open?In firefox when you click to open all bookmarks in new tabs, they start right after the last tab already open but with Safari you lose the tabs you were using!
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to add a "close tab" command to the control click contextual menu in Safari? (or an extension that would provide this feature) I know that if you control click on the actual tab you get get a different contextual menu that includes the close tab command, but the contextual menu available by clicking on the body of the page does not contain that command. I'm using the track pad on a Macbook Pro and want to be able to close the tab by using the using the trackpad alone without having to shift to the keyboard or move the cursor up to the top of the window to close the tab.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince downloading version 5.1.7, when I click on the red button to close a window, it closes instantly -- even when the window contains numerous open tabs. The prior version always gave me a "Do you really want to close this window? You have X open tabs." message, which I'd like to restore. I looked in Preferences to no avail.

Just curious as to whether or not I could assign gestures to commands? I want to make a four finger swipe left/right switch tabs in Safari. It's possible to do with with my Logitech mouse but when I'm not using my mouse I feel as if a four finger swipe would be much easier than command+shift left/right.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have really tried to like the new Safari, but I can't seem to generate 'affection' for the tabs. One thing especially is irritating to me. Being over the address bar is bad enough, but when there's a bunch of tabs, finding a spot to 'grab' the window to move it is difficult.
Is there a way to move the tabs back below the address window like the older Safari? I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I didn't see it.
my safari upon opening shows a tab for the current window. i thought tabs only appeared when you have 2 or more concurrent windows open at the same time.
is there a way to hide the tab when you only have 1 window open?

Safari had tabs yesterday. Today - no tabs nor tab bar. Nothing in Safari Preferences brings back the tabs. How can I get my tabs back?

Do you think it is a fault ?
There is a small crackling noise when I close my MBP lid. It seems like the joints are really dry and need oil almost. Is this normal?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI know this may seem silly to ask, but I have read that the hinge is a bit vulnerable on the macbook pro, & mine will mostly be at home on a desk, but I may occasionally take it out. When I have it at home & shut down for the day, will closing the lid, & then opening it the next day weaken it? could I just leave the lid open when the laptop is shut down at the desk?

I have an old MBP laying around that is not worth selling due to a number of little issues it has. However, it still functions just fine and, I think, would make an excelent server. However, there is one small issue: If I close the lid, it will go to sleep.Â
I've tried using a few different apps, InsomniaX and Caffiene being two of the more popular ones, but so far nothing seems to take. I know I can do this with the use of an external monitor or mouse, but I don't want to have to keep a mouse plugged in simply so my server can run and I don't have, or want, to set up a monitor for it.Â
how I can make my MBP behave as I'd like?

I have a macbook pro mid 2012, and when I close the lid of my mac, then when I open it back up, it just won't start up again, it would just show a black screen, I put my ear on top of where the HDD was mounted onto, and I could hear the sound of the HDD, so I have tried putting in a mouse, normally the LEDs light up, but this time it didn't. So i just thought the HDD was too old, so I got a new western digital blue 1tb HDD, and installed maverick 10.9.4 on it, and I set it up, but it still didn't wok...

When I hit Command Q, in normal cases it should fully close the app, but in my case its only minimising it and restores previously active sessions (eg. on Safari) However when i hit the x button it fully closes the app instead of minimising it.
