MacBook Pro :: Why Do Applications Keep Unexpectedly Closing
Apr 15, 2012
Everytime I open an application on my mac book pro it automatically sends me to an error message saying "insert name of application" quit unexpectedly click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically.
Once i press reopen however the same message continues to apear, and i am unable to open any of my applications.
My safari keeps closing unexpectedly and when it does it tells me that it quite while using the .GameHouseBeachParty.so plugin. I have no idea what this means!
For the past couple days safari has kept closing unexpectedly at random times due to a plugin called .powerarchiverprofessional.png. What can I do to make it stop or to delete the plugin. The following message shows up after it closes. I've tried following the path to delete the plugin, but when i go to applications then safari it just goes to safari.
I've been trying to use safari but it closes on me everytime i run the application and everytime it closes it always says "the application safari quit unexpectedly. the problem may have bene caused by the ct_plugins plug in." what do i do to fix this? I'm also using Mac OS X software 10.5.8
When I hit Command Q, in normal cases it should fully close the app, but in my case its only minimising it and restores previously active sessions (eg. on Safari) However when i hit the x button it fully closes the app instead of minimising it.
just wondering if i hav a trojan horse or a virus. lately, i've noticed my mbp pops up things that i didn't click on - i.e. Finder app ... or it suddenly closes things that i didn't exit out of... i.e. there were a few times, when i was uploading some pictures on my blog and the uploading pop-up window that allows me to search for my pictures in my mbp, it suddenly closed
I've just purchased a Mac from my friends friend (via eBay) and it's an awesome machine. It's not the latest MacBook and cost me 466, the OS is Version 10.6.3, 2GHz, 2GB 667MHz DDR2 and an Intel graphics accelerator.
I was just wondering, when I load up for example Firefox and close it using the X at the top left, it appears to be closed, but upon right clicking Firefox icon I get the menu and it says 'Quit', I thought once you close an application using the X (like Windows) it closes the instance of that application
I know this is Windows-esque, but is there a way when you only have one window up of closing that application by clicking on the red cross, instead of the window closing but the application is still open? I do find it irritating that I have to - Q all the time and I can't even - W on the last window to close the application.
If you know what I'm talking about, is there a way of doing this?
I just switched from Firefox to Safari, but I am really starting to miss the ability to close tabs by clicking them with the middle mouse button (scroll wheel)Is there a way to do this in Safari, or are then any better ways to close tabs withouth having to click the little close button to the left of them?
Recently made the switch to Mac from PC - after over 12 years of exclusively, intensively using PC. Already I'm loving my MBP, and I've been trying to pick up as many nifty shortcuts as I can.
I couldn't figure out this one: Is there a way to close an individual Firefox tab by clicking it in conjuction with pressing a key? This way, I won't have to go straight to the "x" every single time when using the mouse. Cmd+W works, but only on immediate screen. I used to simply middle click to close a tab, but my new mouse's wheel button sucks!
is there a way to open all tabs in a bookmark folder at once without having Safari automatically close the ones already open?In firefox when you click to open all bookmarks in new tabs, they start right after the last tab already open but with Safari you lose the tabs you were using!
Today, suddenly, my finder has started quitting whenever I go to the "applications" tab. Every other part of the finder works but the applications refuse to open. It's worrying me because I think it could be one of those few mac viruses. I'm running a virus scan at the moment to see.
Also on the possible virus front. I had cleaned my HDD the other day and gotten it to 58 gigs left of free space. A few days later it came up as 78 free though which confused me.
I just got the screen that says you need to hold down the power key and restart your computer. Anyone know why? I'm running tiger. I had about 12% battery left and I am "borrowing" my neighbors internet because mine is down right now (I'm a broke college student). I had about 1-3 bars of internet but those go in and out and fluctuate often. I've noticed my computer seems to lag because of that, I've had a lot more applications crashing.
how to add a "close tab" command to the control click contextual menu in Safari? (or an extension that would provide this feature) I know that if you control click on the actual tab you get get a different contextual menu that includes the close tab command, but the contextual menu available by clicking on the body of the page does not contain that command. I'm using the track pad on a Macbook Pro and want to be able to close the tab by using the using the trackpad alone without having to shift to the keyboard or move the cursor up to the top of the window to close the tab.
I have tried repairing permissions, rebooting, verify disk and onyx. I do not have many apps installed, no login items, 5 items on desktop, 107gb left on my hd, no antivirus, and nothing processor or memory intensive running. Also, when I try to delete custom prefpanes system preferences freezes with the spinning wheel. Some apps (mainly keynote) often freeze unexpectedly causing me to lose all my work.
All applications quit suddenly when I click on print or press command+P. I tried everything to solve the problem including:
1) Uninstalled and reinstalled printer driver software. 2) Removed and readded the printer in printer setup utility 3) Reinstalled the whole operating system (Tiger) and installed all the updates. 4) Then it occured to me to test the printer using other user accounts in my computer and it works fine on other accounts! So the problem is just in my user account!
I bought Coversutra on Thursday. Started using it on Friday. And it's quit on me twice. And, I didn't do anything to cause it too quit. Has this happened to anyone else?
I have the new MBP. I'm running OS 10.5.6 2.53 ghz intro core 2 duo 4 gigs of ram. I have enough to run it. I had issues installing it. It told me I needed 1 mb to run it. so I drug the folder into the mac HD. When the base game works perfectly. I have all the expansion games. Which works on my IMac running the same thing & my old MBP. When I install the first expansion pack & launch it the error reads. The application the sims 2 quit unexpectedly & it says the same thing when I want to relaunch.
When I try to launch iChat, the icon bounces once, then I am informed that "The application iChat quit unexpectedly." Clicking the "Relaunch" button twice gives me the option to "Reset and relaunch," but that does not help either.
iChat runs fine within another user account on the same machine.
I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
one day i open adium, pass 10 seconds and quit's now happend all the time i download adium again and the same thing happendseems when i connect my facebook account to adium, Crash, here it's the report of the crash
last updates of iTunes there seems to be a problem with playing music: iTunes just randomly pauses and continues playing after a while.I believe this all started after updating to 7.4.1 it was really bad then, iTunes would pause like 20 times during a song and it would take very long for a new song to start.
just checking to see if everyone else is having the same problem with the new Skype 2.7. And to let you know that I have just gone back to Skype 2.6 and this still works fine.
Basically, every time I tried to call or chat to anyone, Skype 2.7 would unexpectedly quit. I found a link to download the previous version. [URL]
Has anyone experienced iChat quitting unexpectedly?
I use iChat primarily to video chat with my girlfriend who's currently away for nursing school and prior to upgrading to SL, it worked fine. I don't know if upgrading had to do anything with it, but it's really become more prominent after the upgrade. Before posting this thread, it quit 4 times while using the video chat.
I would post the error details to see if anyone can decipher something out of it, but I don't want to unless it's needed.
But yeah, has anyone experienced it and if you have, would you happen to know a fix or if a fix is on the way from Apple?
My itunes randomly, even after several restarts and re-installations, won't open and always says that itunes has "unexpectedly quit". I don't know what to do. This is what the error reads:
I recently got a powerbook g4, and it was running on Mac OS X 10.4. I knew that wasn't the latest version, so I bought a mac box set. My applications were fine they all open and were fine. I installed mac os x 10.5 the next day and it took a few tries to install. When it was done I installed ilife. I have had so many problems with my computer ever since I installed those programs. My ichat, iphoto, mail, address book, and ical won't open. I get the message " the application.... unexpectedly quit." This is my first mac computer and I'm not sure what to do. I also get that message when I'm in the middle of the software updates. I have to find them on the apple website to download them.
Sometimes random applications quit unexpectedly, and sometimes the Finder keeps quitting and restarting repeatedly. Last time this happened after waking the machine from hibernation, and Skype and Chrome quit. Before other applications has quit as well, such as MATLAB and Spotify. Anyone got any idea what might be amiss? I've got the newest version of everything that I'm running.
