Mac Mini :: Green Line And Black Space On Side Of Display
Mar 24, 2012I am getting a green line and a black open space on the side of my Mac Mini TV when I set it up. I have tried every different resolution and it is still there. The problem is that when I click Detect Displays, nothing happens to the screen.

MacBook :: Open Up Photo Booth It's Just Black, And The Green Light Won't Come On?
Nov 7, 2009I've been having a strange issue with my iSight recently. It will work sometimes, and then one day for no reason, it won't. When I open up photo booth it's just black, and the green light won't come on. When I try and video chat, it says the camera is in use, which it obviously isn't. It will let me chat, though, the other person just can't see me. If I restart my computer, the camera will start working again, but the same issue will come back within a few days. About a month ago I called Applecare about this and a palmrest crack, and sent it in. Since I had to turn it off to send it in, though, they didn't see any problem when they received it and thus didn't do anything about it. Once the issue came back again, I took it to an Apple store (about an hour away) so I could show someone in person. The genius sent it in for me and they replaced several parts, but it's happening again! This is very frustrating, and I really don't want to have to make the drive again. My school store sells Macs and I might be able to take it there for them to have a look. I've had a few other issues with this machine, too, do you think they might just consider a replacement at this point? I've had a couple other small issues with the machine in the past (DOA battery, palmrest cracks, stuck pixels).
It's a late '07 Blackbook with plenty of Applecare left. Also, the issue started after (but not right after) I installed Snow Leopard, if that might have anything to do with anything.

Jun 13, 2012I've an early 2008 macbook Pro with geforce 8600 graphic cards.Since a few days i've problems with it, during a session my screen become a little green and pink and I've sometime the kernel panic message.When i restart, i've green and black bars on the screen, the apple is not in the middle and the mac freeze.I can't start with the recovery, even on the usb recovery disk, because after the choice of the recovery, the mac begin and freeze.I've ever try to begin in single user mode with fsck -fy command, sometime it resolve the problem but now nothing at all.

Mar 22, 2012I recently bough a 2nd hand MacBook Pro off eBay & all has been fine until today when I was using it. Suddenly a green line appeared down the right hand side of the screen. I did a bot of research & people say it could be the GPU, but I know that this particular MBP has had the logic board replaced only last year. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the line has now gone.

PowerPC :: G4 17" - Negative Effect Display
Sep 12, 2010it is almost like a negative effect, but not the actual negative effect that you can do by pressing "ctl+alt+com+8". The other odd thing is that is has seemed to get a little better in the past day or two on its own. I have attached a picture (the problem is best seen in the upper left portion of the display although this problem does cover the entire screen). Does anyone know if this is a fixable problem?

This is a MacBook Pro pre-unibody The graphic card is an ATI Radeon X1600 I ran the TechTool Deluxe tool to test the video RAM (and everything else), but it didn't detect anything wrong I have never seen this when the laptop is connected to an external monitor This doesn't happen that often; say 1 times out of 10, usually after the laptop comes out from sleep. The issue stays for a few minutes and then goes away until next time, so I am unlikely to have the problem when I go to Apple Store for service.
MacBook Pro :: Purple And Green Pixels On Display
Jun 30, 2014So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.

I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back.

A weeks ago, the display started go weird: - strange shapes started appearing on the desktop - a fluorescent green (like vertical strips of 5 or 6 pixels in a group), sometimes as a shadow of a previous open window, sometimes just random squares or lines. The blocks of green go if i run my mouse over them with the button pressed down. -a fluorescent green light sometimes shines around the programme tiles in the dock. -shadows behind open windows very accentuated and fluorescent green - sometimes text on web pages and documents look garbled - again this goes if i run my mouse over them, and either go or comes back in a different place. Some times i can go a few hours without experiences these problems, other times the issue is there on start up. I ran the quick hardware check, and no problems were reported, a week later i ran the extensive check, and again the system seemed fine.

May 24, 2012I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. MacBook :: Finding An External Display That Matches My Black MacBook Display
Mar 2, 2009As the title states. I am looking for an external display that matches the display on my black MacBook. I want one with the same gloss finish as my MacBook, this way I can calibrate both screens to look the same. That way when I switch screens it doesn't look different.
Anyone know of a screen that looks identical to the (previous generation) MacBook? I was thinking of getting a Samsung T240 but it has a different finish. How are ASUS screens? Any screens out there that have the same gloss finish?
Mac Pro :: Red And Green Pixels On Display
Dec 9, 2014I have a Mac Pro 1,1. Tonight the display starting looking like the screen shot attached. Then it wouldn't come up at all. Black screen, with a few bands of green pixels.
My first thought is that the Graphics Card is going bad. Odd thing is, though, that I captured this via screen capture from another Mac. Could it still be a bad GPU if it looks this way remotely? I'm not sure how these early Mac Pros work. I have Mac minis that, when the display is off (or headless), the GPU is not used to render the GUI via screen sharing. So, I tried disconnecting the display from the Mac Pro, and I get the same screen shot.
I can boot the Mac Pro into Safe Mode, but that is it.

Nov 5, 2009Where do you sit on the whole Genie Effect vs Scale Effect war that's been raging for the last 8 years? Whilst the Genie wowed me the first time I saw it, I chose Scale Effect pretty much as soon as I got OSX, preferring performance over prettiness. Aug 31, 2014I have a 2007 Mac Pro 1,1 with attached 24" apple display and utilizing 5 GB Ram and maxed out on internal hard drives. It's been a flawless workhorse and I mostly tax it with Photoshop which it does well. Well, yesterday, I was viewing a small video on my Mac when this issue occurred. Suddenly I saw these squiggly looking horizontal lines on my display. Then I saw a spinning beach ball. I had to shut down.
I double checked my display cables in case any were loose - no issues. Restarted without issue. Went back to work on my computer - no issues doing ordinary tasks such as opening windows, moving files and surfing the internet. Went back into Photoshop and resized several dozen images without issue. Then, this happened again... restarted. Zapped PRAM just in case. Fired up Tech Tool Deluxe (older version 3.1.3) and it found NO problems, I passed all tests.
Then... out of nowhere it crashed again, third time... I don't recall what I was doing to be honest. I shut down my Mac last night and this morning have spent an hour on and so far, so good. However, I'm not taxing it by doing anything intense. I need to use Photoshop for a project I'm working on so I will do that soon and see if this issue repeats.
I've tried searching the forums but can't find anything conclusive to my specific issue. What else should I do? What else should I check? Is this hardware or a software issue? I have temperature monitor installed - should I be looking at specific temperature increases and if so, where?
GPU going bad on logic board? This is a really close up image taken with my iphone, obviously the lines aren't this large.

MacBook Pro :: Display Just Goes Black
Dec 13, 2009I have a 2007 santa rose mbp and recently I have been having display issues. Out of nowhere is seems that my display just goes black. You can tell that the screen is still on because of the backlighting; its just the picture that seems to disappear. However, the computer still seems to be working fine. I can remote screen share and use the computer normally as if nothing happened. I have no idea if this is some kind of a hardware or software problem... Can this be an indication of the 8600M GT dying?

Fast forward to yesterday - I ordered a new mac pro and need to connect it to my KVM switch which means I need to remove the G5 from that switch.
No biggee - I found another 17" ASDisplay. But i thought i better check with my own first before committing to buy.
It connects to the ACD side of the graphics card (nvidia Gfx 5200 or along that line - stock card for this model), but everything has a green due to it.

I charged and restarted with no luck I usually get a quick flash and then it continues to start up. now if I look closely the system is working properly becasue i can see my log in screen very faintly in the back ground. Apr 6, 2010I have a 19-inch Envision EN9410e LCD flat panel monitor. Right now I did a mirror display setup. The native resolution of this monitor is 1280 x 1024. When I went to System Preferences to change it to that resolution my LCD monitor shows the Snow Leopard desktop but it's in the middle of two black bars. I had to revert to 1024 x 768 resolution to not have the black bars show. Is there a way I can change it to the native resolution and not have the black bars on the top and bottom show up on the screen?

MacBook Pro :: Odd Line Appear On Black Screen Display
Jul 8, 2010I have a core i7 MBP with the high res display, and when the display is showing black, a horizontal green line appears on the screen. It is only visible when the screen is showing black or another very very dark color, and the line is not visible with the screen off. It isnt something on the screen, as rubbing it does not affect it at all. I cannot post a screenshot of it, because it does not appear in the screenshot (it does on my screen, because the line is there physically, but on other monitors it is not visible).
