Intel Mac :: Internet Is Running Very Slow On Safari - Takes 11 Seconds To Load A Page?
May 5, 2012I have an iMac model identifier 9.1, with Mac OS X v10.5.8 and safari version 5.0.6. All programs are running normally (fast) except safari. When I try to load webpages it takes about 11 seconds to fully load. All other computers in my house are connected to the same internet and running fine. What do I do to make the loading faster?

When start Safari, it opens but takes some 4 to 5 mn to load the home page, regardless of the internet connection.
With the same internet connection, web page opens almost instantly on my iPhone. Â

OS X :: Safari 4 Takes Ages To Load A Page Randomly?
Jul 8, 2009I've got safari 4 on 3 different mac's all running leopard with latest updates.
When browsing the web randomly it decides to take ages loading a page even sites like google. To make it load I have to stop it then press refresh.
I've tried unticking the fraudulent sites box and repairing permissions in disk utility, but i still get the same problem on all 3 mac's.

[URL]is says that I have a 10.71 mbps download and 1.34 mbps upload but for some reason my internet is always slow to load web pages etc. There a quite a few internet connected devices in my house (up to ten (iphones computers, xbox), but not all being used at once of course, with 2 Airport Extreme base stations.) Is this an interference problem or what?

Feb 8, 2012My iMac has just gotten all grumpy and weird with me, when attempting to browse anything on the internet (or even trying to access the router via 192.168.1.1) everything is ridiculously slow or just doesn't load. At first the speed went down dramatically - i went on speedtest.net and did a test, the page took a good 5 mins to load and after the test it turned out that i had a speed of 0.2 Mbps (my average speed on a good day is about 2.5 Mbps, shocking i know!) Ive tried turning the computer off and restarting it to no avail. Im doing this on my Macbook Pro which is sat next to the iMac and with a speed test is coming up with speed of about 2.2 Mbps, so its clearly the machine and not the internet/router. Ive tried using Safari, Chrome and Firefox they all provide the same, unusably slow responces.

Jun 10, 2012I am trying to change my DNS on the DNS tab of the going through System Preference/Network/Advanced/DNS tab. However, the current DNS are greyed out and I can not overwrite them. After watching a host of videos and going to the local Apple store, I see that I am the only one that has this problem. It is as if the IP address assigns the DNS and locks it. Is this correct?

1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.

However, a few days into using it I noticed that it would take about 5-7seconds before something I click would open. Jun 29, 2012I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.Â

Mac Pro :: Opening Apps Takes 30 To 45 Seconds?
Mar 21, 2012Up graded to Lion last week. Everything fine until today. Opening apps takes 30 to 45 secs. Clicking anything on menu bar takes the same time. Everything is so slow I can't hardly use the machine. This happened to me about 10 days ago when I was running 10.6.8 which is why I formatted a new boot disc & installed Lion. Now it's happening again after a week of using Lion. Can I supply any logs to help an expert diagnose my problem & if so which ones? Meanwhile I will try safe boot & another account & report back.

Jun 4, 2014Just happening within the last couple weeks... 2.9GHz i5 iMac running 10.9.3..Energy Saver settings set to default from day 1..Display is set to turn off after 10 minutes, put hard disks to sleep when possible, and wake for network access.The screen used to pop right back on after hitting the keyboard or moving the bluetooth mouse... Now it still sometimes comes right back and other times take up to 15 seconds. Just happening the last 2-3 weeks.

Jun 26, 2009How long does it take to load your guys' firefox on the unibody? For some reason mine takes around EIGHT bounces. I think somethings wrong. This is after doing a clean up w/ onyx too. But even before cleanup, its been around 8 bounces... on my white imac, safari takes only 2 bounces from a fresh load up. Why, could this have to do with anything with the graphics drivers? My HD is half full and I have 2 gb of ram.

Nov 21, 2009Is this normal? I've tried changing the number of cores to use at startup as 2 and its a second faster....a second! Anyway, is it normal for it to take 1 minute 45 to start up? I didn't seem to take that long before but its suddenly started doing it.

Apr 10, 2009I have a WDS local network at my house. I use a Airport Extreme in my main part of the house and a Airport Express for my back part of the house i.e. the backyard. Now every two weeks or so my internet speed through my Airport Express slows down about half the speed but when I am connected trough the Airport Extreme my speed is normal. I know this because I test my connection very often. Now when I want the Airport Express to get back up to speed I have to unplug, and plug it back in. Then after awhile it starts to slow down again in a time period of two weeks or so.

Nov 17, 2008My Mac has this weird disease that it returns to the first screen by itself after I've opened a couple of windows no mather what software or program I use.
It has nothing to do with my keyboard or mouse, because this problem occurs even when I've pulled everything out of the USB socket.
For example, when I start a movie with VLC Media player it starts over after 3 seconds and it goed to the start of the movie.
Anybody who knows the solution, I just can't find anything about this issue.

Apr 22, 2012I was tempted to put this in the 'Safari' section, but after a little more trial I thought it went deeper than that. The issue is, for about two weeks now, i'll be surfing the web and then head to one of my commonly visited websites (namely Wikipedia, Google, Huffington Post, and this website) and though I'm fully connected to the internet, the pages won't load and i get the "Server Not Found" noitce.Â
I don't, however, have this problem with ALL webpages when this is happening to the others. Gmail, Facebook, Mediaite, etc. all have no issue and they work just fine. Â
Primarily I use Google Chrome as my browser. So the first thing i did was clear the cache to see if it would help, but nothing changed. So i opened both Safari and Firefox and they both suffer the same problem. After about 60 seconds the issue goes away and all things are normal again. About 10 to 15 minutes later, if I'm still surfing the web, the problem may creep back up again. I can't say for sure but I've noticed that this typically happens when I first try to go to those pages after a few hours of not using the net.Â
When this happens, I've also tried loading these pages on my iPhone and iPad during the 60 seconds and have encountered the same problem. Using a Wireless internet connection thru a cable modem.

Jun 29, 2014my youtube age won't load properly, it takes forever to load the page but when it does it doesn't load to the end it's just stops at a bunch of writing and that's it? i have tried everything from clearing the cache,history and cookies to uninstalling the adobe player and installing it again. Nothing works. However funny enough if i connect to another wifi it works just fine. But i know that the router/wifi isn't the problem because my sister has an sony laptop and her youtube is just fine. Also on my phone youtube doesn't work neither it just says playback error, but then again on my sister's galaxy phone it works.

Jun 23, 2010Maybe I expect too much, or need to learn about some networking or other tweaks to help things along, but I feel like my Mac Pro has disappointing performance.
I've got an Early 2008 Mac Pro, dual quad core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz processors, 12 GB of memory, 1.6 GHz bus, gigabit ethernet to a 25Mbps/25Mbps fiber (Fios) connection, have run namebench to find the fastest name servers possible, and I still feel like my Mac Pro is slow. Just popped in a 500GB Momentus XT Hybrid Drive to replace the 78Mbs 320GB drive that came stock to help things along. Helped speed boot times and common app load times a lot, but after things are loaded, not much is notably faster.
OK, so I let Firefox get out of hand sometimes and I have 100+ open tabs, 4 open browsers (and sometimes 2 or 3 versions of Firefox running different profiles) -- Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari -- ssh tunnels and sessions galore, Evernote, Time Machine, and VMware running some video monitoring software (Dog Poop Cam -- gonna catch whomever is letting their dog crap in my yard).
Even shutting software hogs down and then trying to play Team Fortress 2, granted at 1920x1200 pushing to limits of the ATI Radeon HD 2600, things are still feeling slow. TF2 in Windows seems much faster and more responsive on the same hardware -- maybe that's just the fault of Steam or Apple's lack of up-to-date drivers, but frustrating nonetheless.
Load average is usually 0.5 to 1.0, sometimes reaching 2.0 (full load would be 8.0), memory usage is at 50-60%, and disk activity is reasonable. What is wrong? What can I tweak to improve things? Are my expectations simply too high?
