I am trying to change my DNS on the DNS tab of the going through System Preference/Network/Advanced/DNS tab. However, the current DNS are greyed out and I can not overwrite them. After watching a host of videos and going to the local Apple store, I see that I am the only one that has this problem. It is as if the IP address assigns the DNS and locks it. Is this correct?

I just upgrades my iMac to snow leopard. I did not see this problem right away but about a few weeks later. My computer is really, really slow when I surf the internet. But it is not slow consistently. Sometimes pages will load immediately and other times it will tell me I can't open the page due to the server not being found? I really don't know where to start looking for a problem.
Could I have a virus?
Could the Airport just be getting old and starting to fail?
Do I have too much info on the computer already and that is effecting something?
Could it be the Snow Leopard?
Could someone hacked into the modem and is jogging the bandwidth? ( I don't have the wifi locked but live in a pretty rural area)

how I can speed up my internet. For about a week or so now, my Safari has been loading webpages incredibly slowly. It will often display the message 'server cannot be found/reached'. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this. I know it's not my actual connection, because I can play World of Warcraft with an average latency of 60ms, and direct download large files at a speed I expect.

Have spent many years with PCs, I can't get used to the speed of the cursor in the programs I use - web forms, emails, Pages etc. I don't mean the blink rate - I know how to change that. I mean the speed at which I can scan across lines of text. The cursor seems slower than my xp machines. What setting might I have missed? I don't recall being able to change the rate of movement across the lines in an xp machine.

I have a WDS local network at my house. I use a Airport Extreme in my main part of the house and a Airport Express for my back part of the house i.e. the backyard. Now every two weeks or so my internet speed through my Airport Express slows down about half the speed but when I am connected trough the Airport Extreme my speed is normal. I know this because I test my connection very often. Now when I want the Airport Express to get back up to speed I have to unplug, and plug it back in. Then after awhile it starts to slow down again in a time period of two weeks or so.

i downloaded about 3.1 gbs of music onto it and it was working ok, well now that i removed everything off the internal memory its running so slow!! my safari got updated and everytime i go to a website is see that blue bar lag to the other end ,i bought a 1tb external HD to keep memory free in the macbook to keep it from slowing down but its still slow .i am really considering selling this and getting an hp computer if i cant fix this, cause i paid nearly 2k dollars for the laptop

First Facebook stopped loading on my computer. Now Yahoo will not load. All other sites seem to load with no issues. I have tried all of the recommended items that I could find including but not limited to Empty Cache, Reset Safari, Cleaning cookies, Adding or changing DNS, clearing history.plist and everything else I could find in the communities. It seems that the pages I visit the most are the ones with issues. I should note that I have had some instances of Safari closing unexpectedly and times where I have had to use force quit.

here's the issue, when i open a new tab and go to a website, i then wait for it to load, while it does load, i go onto the other tabs, but then when i go back to the tab that was loading, i get this message/error saying that the website cannot be found etc. as if there is no internet connection. i then click on refresh and it loads up the page just fine. this only happens when i go onto the other websites and don't wait for the new tab to load. why does this happen? it is very frustrating. i already reseted safari numerous times and im still having the same issue.

This happens only on iMac and Macbook Air. It doesn't happen on iPad nor on Safari on a Pc. It will happen on the Mac computer both when the pages are out on the internet and when the pages ar locally stored. It's driving me absolutely mad!
I've tried emptying cache both through Safari menu and by removing Safari's Cache.db, I've reset Safari preferences, restarted, and changed DNS to Open DNS (though it seems strange it should be an issue since the problem also occurs when I run the site on localhost). Â
If I open the page directly entering the url in the adressbar it works fine, it is when I try to access it from a link on another page on the site it doesn't load. If I press reload it will load fine. The link from other pages can be either an html <a href="url"> tag or javascript window.location or window.location.href neither works. The weird thing is it worked fine until just yesterday. And it works fine on every other machine except the Macintoshes.
I can't connect to the internet from 8 pm to 8 am because my parens are turning my internet off. No i'm not a little kid or anything, besides nobody would give a little kid a laptop. i have an v10.5.7 2 Ghz intel core 2 duo macbook. I don't know how my parents are automatically turning off the internet at exactly 8 pm then turning it on at 8 am. And it is just my laptop because my brother can connect to the same network after 8. I am interested in adding a webcam to my desktop Imac (power pc)- Isight is no longer available- an option that I found is the Ecamm Image- but apparently it is USB and not firewire and it will only run with high speed usb- how do I know which type is on my computer? View 1 Replies View RelatedMy internet provider says it has a good signal. whether i use wifi or connected straight to the modem its the same, some pages load some dont, always different on what loads and doesnt.  If i connect to a neighbour who has the exact same internet speed and provider it works perfectly fine. Ever since i did a software update 3 or 4 days ago it has been happening.
