When the MBP is not turned on, I have an 15Mbs connection. When turned on (doesn't have to have any internet activity), it goes down to below 1Mbs for other computers. What causes this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook Pro was working fine when suddenly Safari froze, so I forced quit. After opening Safari again, the page just stayed white and wouldn't load. None of my other programs requiring internet are working either (ie. AIM, Skype), even though my internet connection is listed as connected and other devices using Wifi are working perfectly. Could this be some sort of virus?

i have an imac 21' with OS 10.5 leopard and all the updates installed and everything is supposed to be running smoothly.and i use the iStat pro to track everything. a week ago, i noticed something really strange. something is downloading on my computer and eating all the bandwidth to the extent i can't even browse the internet. i quit all the programs running but still it was not faltering. the only thing that seemed to work is to turn off airport and turning it on again, is there any other way to know what is doing that to me and how to stop it. i read somewhere about littlesnitch but it did not help me. any suggesstions on what does this and how to manage it?

Is there a way to configure this APE to act more like a router that truly shares a connection rather than a splitter that's cutting it in half?

I can do to speed it up? It takes almost 10 seconds to load an internet page.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro and it is not connecting to the internet! Airport says im connected to my internet connection, but safari won't load the internet. I tried Firefox and still, the same result. I resetted the modem and the router, but still nothing. The internet connection on my other computer works fine. So I got on the Windows partition and it connects to the internet! So it's just OSX that won't let me connect cause my Windows partition works fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhile browsing the web I keep randomly getting messages that my computer isn't connected to the internet. Sometimes I can load a new page in another tab, but when I go back to the tab that wasn't working and refresh it still says I'm still not connected. It seems to go in and out pretty often. I don't have this problem on my pc laptop so I don't think its my DSL. It's happened randomly since I got the Air, but seems much more frequent (probably happened 15 times today).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a ps3 and what it boils down to is that I cannot use the ps3 and my macbook on my wireless network at the same time. I have the late 2008 unibody 2.0 macbook. Each plays nice with the network individually but as soon as I try to connect to the internet on both at the same time they crap out and I get the "your computer is not connected to the internet" error message in safari and a similar message on my ps3.
I tried researching it online and all I could find is that the routers DNS server could possibly be issuing the same ip address to both units and this could be causing the problem, seeing as you can't have the same ip address twice on a given local network. I've done all the basics like restarting each machine, disconnecting and reconnecting etc and it doesn't seem to work.

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro. My wi-fi is great, but I have a problem with connecting using my computer. I can connect to the wi-fi network in a second, and the internet will work fine for let's say 3-5 minutes. Then everything just stops loading. I have to turn off wi-fi, turn it back on, and re-connect to the network just for pages to load again.Â
This does not happen with my phone.Â
I will be out of town for about 2 weeks, and while I'm here my macbook pro will not connect to the internet. Everyone else that has laptops, some even have the same computer, can connect to the internet. What do I do?

My macbook and other laptops connect to the internet without any problem, but she has been having problems.
Airport connects to the network and even assigns an IP address properly, but the safari or firefox doesn't open any websites.
I tried manually assigning IP address but didn't work either. I am not very good at solving problems with Macs so any help is welcome. sometimes it is a bit difficult to assign the IP address, but it does end up assigning one.
I have a MacBook pro that I'm having issues with. It connects to my home Wi-Fi (the n version of the Apple Airport Base Station) and I get a strong signal but whether I use Firefox or any other web browser or internet based program I get a message that I'm not connected to the internet. I can even select network diagnostics and it walks me through steps where I choose my network, reset my cable modem, base station, etc. and at the end it says it is unable to fix the problem. i have a 2nd MBP that I use on the same network with no issues at all. This issue started showing up about a month ago but did not happen often. Most of the time it happened when I had shut my MBP down since I had to go take it with me to meetings. Often after removing the battery for a minute I could boot up and it would work but now no matter what I do it won't work.

Every once in awhile it says i'm not connected but i am and its very good connection. I'm just wondering if it's the MacBook, or is it the internet. I have a weird problem when i try to connect to the internet with my MBP. I run on Lion (10.7.4) and it the problem appeared a few days ago, internet was working before. So here's the deal : Airport is working fine, and when I check my network settings and ask for a diagnostic, the assistant tells me i AM connected to the internet and claims it works alright. But when I open Safari or Chrome, I can't go on any site, because each time it says the operation timed out. My family has others computers connected to the same modem and they all have a working connection.
I tried entering manually the address to check if it was a simple DNS problem but it isn't. I tried restarting the modem and my computer, turning Airport on and off, deleting all the network datas my computer had saved to set up this network as a new one, adding a new location, renewing the DHCP lease.

I have a macbook pro that is running Mac OS X Lion. Recently, however, it stopped being able to connect to the internet through my home wireless network. Nothing changed about my macbook or my network/modem/router. Other devices in the house (PC, iphones) are able to connect to the internet via my wireless network, but not my macbook (and, incidentally, neither can my ipad now). If I take my macbook to any other wireless network (coffee shops etc.) it connects to the wireless and I can access the internet without problem. I have tried the online apple chat support feature, we tried a few things (can't remember what exactly) and have also had my internet service provider reset my modem. Nothing has worked.Â
I've tried various interventions suggested on some message boards here (restarting, resetting modem, deleting and reselecting airport etc.) and nothing has seemed to work. Running network diagnostics comes up with nothing, and it states that there is nothing wrong with the wireless connection or the internet. This is very frustrating, because I can't take it into an apple store (it will most definitely work on their wireless) and it doesn't appear to be related to my ISP (because of the other devices that are able to access the internet). There is something wrong with the communication between MY wireless network and the internet on my macbook. Â

I downloaded hotspot shield and immediately my internet stopped working. Wifi still connects to every available wifi. Every other device can connect without an issue. I deleted hotspot shield from applications and the problem persists. When i delete then re-add wifi in network settings it temporarily says no ip.
