I cant see my typing in " Password field", also I cant type in " Verify Password Field" when creating a folder with password in Disk Ultility.
I have a log in password on my mac , i was be able to see my typing password before ( the black circles presented for hidden words ) but now i cant see my typing , the password only appear when i incident type the password and hit enter .

PROBLEM:
when a RESTART my device, I don't see the PASSWORD FIELD. I see the pointer, the "welcome message" below,the name of the admin (myself) above, the picture above. i see everything but the space in wich you write the password.i can write it without seeing it neither its field.
If you have a contact in Addressbook (AB) with a nickname, if you also use Apple Mail (AM) and create a new email and start to type the contact's email in the TO field, AM will finish your typing giving you a list of related possible email addresses to choose from. The problem is that in addition to the email addressk AM adds the contact's nickname as opposed to it's firstname/lastname or even business name. We need a preference for this, per contact.
Example: In AB you have a contact:
Name: Jon Doe
Company Doe Company
Nickname: The Doester
email: jon.doe@doecompany.com
In AM you start to write an email: and type: "jon" and AM shows you a list of possible related emails one of which will be: "The Doester" [URL]Commentary: now if a casual email to a friend, this is OK. But what if this is a business oriented email and "The Doester" isn't appropriate? You can only stop the inclusion of "The Doester" by deleting it from the Nickname field in the AB. This is presumptuous on Apple's part, or a bug, that the Nickname should trump the first/lastname or company name.
I don't exactly know the answser to this. If we could easily choose which name to append in front of the email address (firstname/lastname, company name or nickname) that would be cool. Or maybe no name gets added if it has to be: all or nothing from a programming point of view. But having nickname as the primary, if it exists, can be a problem in certain correspondence IMHO.

i started my imac 10.6.2 this morning and for the first time it has asked me for my password, which is fine, but the keyboard will not work, i just get that 'bonging' sound when i type. can anyone help as i am effectively locked out of my own system and am using a friends laptop.

I'm trying to do something in terminal, and it asks for my password. I press a letter on my keyboard, and nothing appears. I am in the right window and everything, terminal just doesn't react to my typing. However, when I click enter, it says 'Sorry,try again'. So it does react to the enter key.
I know the Macbook 17" is powerful but is it powerful enough to play Battlefield 3 (Windows Bootcamp) with just 1Gb or Graphics Ram? with the resolution up at 1080P or 720P and would it be laggy if its on 1080P i just want something better rather playing it on a PS3 or the Ps3 version will have better graphics?

I needed it for field research. The main thing I regret missing out on the upgrade was the mini display port which carrys both video and audio, as the amount of wires I have hanging around are a nightmare. Can anyone tell me if there is likely to be a third party software fix that could enable the use of this feature or is it different hardware?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up my mail application on Mac to sync up with my web based mail (hotmail) I did not uncheck the flag NOT to remove the emails from the server. This resulted in all my mails until 2010 (time of Mail setup) to be synched up with Mail app on Mac AND removal of them from the hotmail server. Because of this, they are not accessible through Web interface anymore.
Since hotmail is using POP, I am unable to sync it back from Mail app to the hotmail server.I am trying to redirect all emails from Mail app to my hotmail account, but the redirection changes the from address field. I thought that the difference between Forward and Redirect was the way these functions interpret and act on the From field like:
- Forward function would change the From field to show the current account it is sent from
- Redirect function would keep From field intact in the message, so that my hotmail would see the original From field and not the one of my Mail account server.
It seems that both of these functions work more or less the same in Mail app.Could I get a clarification on it, or at least a solution on how to get my mail back to the hotmail server? I do not want to forward, since all the messages will appear like they were from me, causing a big mess.

The MBP is such a beautiful machine made of aluminium, that I'd feel bad if I happened to scratch up the palm rests with my watch. When I was trying out a machine in the store yesterday, I noticed I had to pay special attention to weather or not my watch (with a metal band) would scratch the palm rests. Do any of you who wear watches with metal bands have issues with scratches/damage? And no, I won't stop wearing a watch or switch to a band made of silk to accommodate the MBP.

It's in the basement of an open floor plan building, and during the winter it gets so bad in there that my fingers go numb. Obviously these are not ideal conditions when you are trying to work with a keyboard, a mouse and a wacom for hours on end. I'm wondering, does anybody own or know of a pair of gloves that happen to be thin enough to allow for typing yet still keep your hands warm?
I tried googling for a bit but all I could find were gloves with the fingertips cut off. I think I must have poor circulation in my hands or something because my fingers and toes seem to stay cold most of the winter regardless of how warm my body is. And working on a computer in a cold room just makes it exponentially worse of course.
Yesterday, I bought a new 60W Macbook charger. Today, I charged my Macbook and when I turned it on, the keyboard was typing in foreign letters. Restarting didn't help.

I'm thinking about buying a 13 inch Macbook Pro because I'm tired of hardware and software issues with PC's.I'm a writer and currently own a Lenovo U300s that has a very large, glass touchpad like the Macbooks.While typing, my palms or thumbs will brush up against the touchpad and cause the cursor to jump around on the page.It makes writing very difficult.Has anyone experienced this with the Pro (or Air) thirteen inch, and how to do you get around it?

I was just wondering if my backlight was LED. I wonder how much it will dim over the next couple of years and if keeping it turned down will make it's ability to go bright, when needed last longer. I sometimes turn it up all the way to illuminate the keyboard when typing in low light.

first of all everytime I unplug my USB external keyboard then plug it back in, it does the malfunction where it keeps typing the letter f. what is going on, and how can i fix this? fyi, the f key doesn't work when pressed either, and The keyboard on the actual macbook works fine.

I have a MacbookPro - it's just over a year old. I mostly use it for graphics, but lately I've been having trouble with the keyboard - it intermittently stops typing. This problem occurs across all programs in which I use the keyboard. If I leave it alone for a few minutes it will start typing again, but obviously this is very inconvenient.

I just got this new 17" powerbook two months ago. Everything seemed fine until this past weekend when I tried to do some work on it. No matter the program, Word, Quark etc., whenever i go to type in sentences or paragraphs, suddenly the cursor will jump to another area of the paragraph. There seems to be no consistency and I can't figure the cause.
I checked all the preferences and that doesn't seem to change it.
Could I have a faulty keyboard? Has anyone else heard of this and know what to do.
My 2006 MacBook is glitchy if my hands rest on either side of the trackpad. It will randomly delete chunks of text or move the cursor and begin entering text elsewhere.

The MacBook has starting typing everything in caps, even the number keys are printing shifted characters. The caps lock key seems to be functioning normally, so I don't believe that is the cause.

So I had 2 alias images(jpg) that weren't working. I tried dragging them,fixing disks...etc and nothing worked. They were obviously images that became corrupted and missing.
So I read somewhere to type the name of the files in spotlight,and that worked. I just typed the first 3 numbers and the files dissapeared from "finder".
I was wondering how did that happen? and could the files be still on my drive?

I have a Macbook Pro 13in. It is not a retina. I just bought it from apple. Anyway it works fine I just noticed one thing about the keyboard and I'm sort of new to macs.
OK so the backlight on the keyboard times out after 5 sec (that's what I have it set to) the thing is the light will come back on after it times out when you move the mouse or touch the trackpad, but not if you start typing. I noticed that shift, fn, control, alt/options, and Fkeys will bring it back. The peculiar thing though is that while I'm typing, that will keep the light on. Soon as i stop for 5 sec won't just turn on if I start typing again, gotta hit one of those keys or touch the pad.
I could just set the timer longer, but idk seems like a minor flaw. Unfortunately I can kind of see that, however there does seem to be hotkeys. Just as long as one could customize them, maybe add the entire keyboard.

I spilled a bit of milk on my computer this morning and managed to move fast enough to drain most of it. I turned the computer off, and on again, just to make sure that it was running. (I know now I shouldn't have...) I was able to log in, etc. My trackpad was going a bit wonkers, but it's done that before, so I wasn't worried. Turned it off, flipped it over, set it aside.
A number of hours later, I turned it on again, and now the keys from A-L (ASDFGHJKL) and T-O (TYUIO) aren't working. I require a password, so now I can't log in. I noticed also that some key types non-stop (in the password box) until I press delete, which stops the typing. I've taken off a number of keys and cleaned them, but even if I press the squishy thing underneath, the keys aforementioned don't type.
Can someone tell me what I can do, if anything, manually before I get an external keyboard? (I won't be going into Apple -- not interested in spending a few hundred+ for cleaning/fixing; my warranty's run itself out.)
And, as a side question: I'm not sure if my Bluetooth is on. What do I have to do to be able to connect a wireless keyboard? Or do I need to get one with a USB? Or, because I'm logged out, am I completely screwed?

A while ago, my MacBook Pro started to randomly open launchpad in "Slow motion" when I am typing. Ever since then, my computer has been acting quite sluggish, and once my iTunes library disappeared. (Luckily I keep a backup, but that seems to have resolved itself.) I do not think that the opening launchpad thing is a hardware issue, mainly because of all of the other symptoms. One thing that I'm worried about is it might be the Flashback trojan, but I have not downloaded anything that would appear to be an Adobe update, and I did get the Java update. I am just curious about what it sounds like.

I just installed microsoft word....it is a little slow...i.e. the typing shows up a split second after i type, instead of instantaneous...I think because of the spelling/grammar checking. anyone else witness this?
