May 28, 2012I'm using iMac with magic mouse. My mouse cursor now stuck in top left corner and cannot move. I've tried to reset the pvram by pressing option+command+P+R
I also tried to power off 15 sec and restart, seems useless also. Now i cant use my imac at all.

Aug 18, 2010I was wondering if there is a way to choose options using keyboard arrows. For example, when Finder asks me whether I want to open a downloaded file from the internet, and I want to say "No", I want to be able to press left and press enter and that'll be it. Instead, I have to use my mouse to click on No.
Is there a way to do this? I went to System Prefs, Keyboards, and clicked on All Controls, but that wasn't the solution.

MacBook Pro :: Left And Right Cursor Keys Not Working
Jun 21, 2012My trusty four year old (2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) macbook pro has, all of a sudden, decided it doesn't want to let me use the left and right cursor keys any more. All the other keys work (including up and down) but the left and right ones don't, even when combined with modifier keys (e.g. Ctrl+<right> should but doesn't navigate across to a second pane in lion). Is it hardware or software problem. Seems odd from a hardware point of view that exactly 2 keys would fail simultaneously.
From a software point of view: I haven't installed anything new lately and I've closed down all the applications running on osx with no luck. Is there some way I can diagnose whether this is hardware or software? Can I boot to a command prompt and test it there? does osx lion include an on-screen keyboard that shows each key being hit? I suppose I could install a keylogger but that might not be conclusive.

Aug 22, 2014Is there a reason why the keyboard short cuts for volume is adjusted with the VERTICAL arrows knowing that the volume bar is HORIZONTAL and that the next song shortcut is with HORIZONTAL arrows knowing that the song are listed VERTICALLY?
Although I've been using using iTunes since the very beginning, I just cannot get used to this reverse logic...I often use it "live" for parties and so scared to switch song instead of volume that I keep using the trackpad instead!Â

When it powered up-screen shows the DESKTOP. Have control of cursor.

when cursor moves up left- screen shows applications {calendar/news/weather) but i.e. cant use calculator-

May 10, 2012I have a 2009 13 inch MBP with 4G of RAM. Its loaded with the current version of Snow Leopard, version 5.1.5 of Safari and version 4.5 0f the Mail App. The screen of the MBP freezes up 3 - 4 times per day. Ninety percent of the time Safari is open when this happens (some of the time, the Mail App is open as well. The remainder of the time I may have another browser open, but the Mail app is open. I can move the cursor around the screen and "force quit" any open applications except Mail and Safari when this happens. The icons for Safari and the Mail App in my Dock turn grey if I click on them. Otherwise the spinning pizza wheel shows up. I have to use the power button to turn off and restart the machine.
I have tried resetting the PRAM. I also got a couple of error messages concerning Hazel (v3.1.1) via Growl on one occasion. Simply stated that there was an error when Hazel started to run, checking .docx files for Music and video. (Hazel runs from startup and I have rules set up to remove partial and duplicate downloads and clear all Trash files within a set period). I uninstalled Hazel, but the freezing still occurs. The apps I have running most of the day are Mail, a browser, Omnifocus, Preview and either Pages or Word in Office for Mac 2011. I back up a couple of times a day using Time Machine and every couple of days update a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

There are a number of issues I have run across:If I have four tabs open on Safari then I start to get a flickering on the screen from the GPU refreshing.When I leave the computer alone for more than 20 mins the screen saver should start -- what happens is that the screen goes to black. When I move the cursor I do not get the login screen. I have to rebootFireFox Web browser will not runI get issues with the computer running very slowly..I have already turned off the transparency option in settings.

Jun 2, 2012I bought my Macbook Pro less than a year ago and the other night I was watching a TV show in itunes and I couldn't use the track pad. I was able to finally shut the Macbook down and the next morning I rebooted it. It was still acting weird and the trackpad was jumpy and would randomly start opening windows and menus as if someone was contriolling it remotely. I used my bluetooth mouse and it seemed to work ok until tonight when I was copying some files wirelessly (or trying to) and evey time I tried to select files the cursor would jump to another screen and open a menu and then select all and open all my file folders. I was able to get that to stop openin ght ewindows but I still can't use the track pad and the machine acts like it is possesed and has a mind of it's own. I have made sure file saring and screen sharing are off and the battery shows to be normal from doing the control+battery test.

Dec 3, 2010I have managed to install virtualbox on my mba 11.6 with win 7 as the guest.
1. The only way I can move from win 7 back to osx is to hold esc and drag the cursor down through the bottom of the win 7 window. Is this how its supposed to work?
2. I have set up a shared folder on osx and set it up on virtualbox but cannot mount it as instructed through the command menu.
3. Virtualbox doesn't recognise my pen drive but osx does.
4. Would it be advantageous to use win 7 lite as I only have 160 hd?
Excuse my asking seemingly simple tasks but I'm struggling with it, and cannot put anything on win 7 until I master it.

Feb 27, 2009had my macbook for about a year and a half and recently it just stopped working. Literally it was fine one minute and the next the screen was just black. I tried turning it on and off and now it stays at the boot screen for like 30 minutes and then just goes to a blue screen. I can move the cursor around the blue screen and stuff but there are no icons and there is no finder or anything. everytime i turn it off and back on the same thing, bootscreen and then bluescreen.

OS X :: Cursor And Keyboard No Longer Respond
Apr 7, 2009I made a thread recently but the issue was resolved by a simple time machine backup. However, I've only recently discovered that the issue is still here, as I had to restart my macbook for updates, and now the cursor is at the exact same spot as before (top left corner), and refuses to move. The keyboard does not work. I am running 10.5.6 on a first gen macbook.
If I hold down option while booting, I can use the mouse + keyboard fine, its only when it goes to login that problems occur. It even works fine on Vista. I have tried external keyboards, etc, to no avail, which suggests that its more of an OS bug, rather than a hardware fault. That and it works fine before login. I'm considering restoring once more, then manually backing up and doing a clean install.

Jul 19, 2007I just got this new 17" powerbook two months ago. Everything seemed fine until this past weekend when I tried to do some work on it. No matter the program, Word, Quark etc., whenever i go to type in sentences or paragraphs, suddenly the cursor will jump to another area of the paragraph. There seems to be no consistency and I can't figure the cause.
I checked all the preferences and that doesn't seem to change it.
Could I have a faulty keyboard? Has anyone else heard of this and know what to do.

I have an Apple Cinema HD 23" ( HDMI port) and a 19" off brand (Thunderbolt port) hooked up to the Mini. It is most noticable using Photoshop but happens using other software or just using Safari. Â
Moving cursor from one monitor to another it will disappear. does not happen all the time. clicking on desktop will make it come back. very inconsistant. I have applied all system and firmware updates. any solutions or are we still waiting for Apple to fix this.

May 23, 2012My mouse cursor is stuck on a spot on my screen. When I move it the pointer springs back to where it was stuck in a second. Can't do anything. Shut the Mini and restarted but still same problem. Cannot get to sys pref to check anything. Running the latest Lion build. Trackpad and wireless keyboard. Also tried with USB mouse with same result.

Sep 4, 2010I just bought this macbook off a friend cause he said he couldn't get it to work so what happens is when i push the f key it types a "�" like if i push the option+f. when i bring up the keyboard viewer when i press the left option key it seems like it auto puts a "�" on the screen and looks like it presses like 4 other keys but if I press the right option key it does nothing if i press right option+f does nothing but works with everything else. just dont know if maybe someone waste some water in it or something cause the left tab key and capslock key sticks sometimes also.
