View 1 RepliesEarly 2011 Mac book pro running 10.9.4. Deleting iPhoto files does not create additional space. iPhoto is about 160gb, iTunes which I use for viewing slideshows remotely is about 135gb.

Is there any weekly maintenance like clearing temporary internet files i need to do? I'm used to windows and new to macs.
View 4 Replies View Related this is going to sound silly and I hope I can explain it correctly, but when you click on the Macintosh HD icon and the window opens up, there is a list on the left side of the window. Down towards the bottom of this list, there is a folder titled: "Search For". Is there any way of clearing the Today, Yesterday, Past Week, All Images, All Movies and All Documents folders without actually deleting the files from my Mac?
I recently upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and now Onyx does not work for me.
I just recieved an external hard drive for Christmas, and so far have only put my videos and some other folders on the drive. I would like to put my itunes library on there, but have NO idea how to go about doing this.
I have an ipod (8g) and want to be able to still sync and not lose any of my songs during transfer. I actually have more APPS than I do music, but I just want to move all those files to the external drive to clear up space on my mac (Powerbook G4, 10.4.11).
My activity monitor says I'm suing 122.43 GB of virtual memory. I'm sure that the number is much, much less. But I would still like to reset the virtual memory.
Are there any terminal commands to rest the vm?
Error message "Your start up disc is full please remove files to clear"which I have done but no joy?

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got a MacBook Air, running 10.7.3 and noticing that on many web sites (firefox and safari are the same), the images just are not clear. They are a bit fuzzy, and some have some sort of weird border around them. I have attached a screen shot of the amazon home page. Notice the weird gray area around the letters and images? Is there a setting or something that can make this better?

I have a Macbook Pro 15" from Mid 2010 and today I went and bought a Mini displayport to HDMI connection so I could use a TV as a monitor and clamshell.
The TV is an Emerson LC220EM1. Which is a 22" monitor.
I am having problems getting the TV to have clear resolution, It is okay, but its definitely not as clear as it could be.
Also when I put them in mirror mode, the top bar is cut off on the external monitor.

When I first got my MBP I saw a real high quality skin that was multiple pieces and had the contours of the computer. I didn't get it at the time and now I really regret it. I just got my wife a new 15" MBP and I want to make sure to get one since she's super hard on computers.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 2009 MacBook Pro running Leopard with a 500 GB drive.
I seem to be losing hard disk space for no reason while web surfing in about 500 MB chunks. I tried emptying the trash, clearing the safari cache and history, and all that returned was about 200 MB.
Since I noticed this a week ago I've been keeping track, and have lost 4.5 GB of space for no reason.
I'm not adding files nor running time machine or some other backup that's constantly creating a disk image.
I am looking for clear protective skins for my 2010 Macbook Pro that I just bought.
I want the skins to be removable, not require moistening/spray solvent and not void my warranty.
Does anyone know of any?
What is the water or solvent used for anyway?
I'm using clear speck seethru (crystal clear hard case) on my mbp. Do you think colored skins as decalgirl will work okay with it? Glossy versions will cause "watermarks"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to have an older macbook where i could hit the f11 key and that would automatically move all the windows to the side and would let me click on a doc on my desktop. now i have a macbook 3.1, intel core 2 duo, 2.2 GHZ, l2 cache 4 mb and it no longer has that feature. the f11 key is reserved for the volume and i really need the volume. i think that feature is located here on the f11 key in this photo,
[URL]
but when i click on f11 nothing happens. even if that feature were available it would not be an ideal solution because i really need the volume keys. i've tried reassinging the volume keys to other keys but i can't figure out how to do it.

I have a 500GB hardrive with 400GB being used. I can account for around 100GB for videos, movies, pojects, and applications. So basically there is about 300GB of taken up space thats unaccounted for. I don't know what could be taking up the space. If anyone can help me locate the data or know of a program to do it that would be awesome.
