I am looking for clear protective skins for my 2010 Macbook Pro that I just bought.
I want the skins to be removable, not require moistening/spray solvent and not void my warranty.
Does anyone know of any?
What is the water or solvent used for anyway?
When I first got my MBP I saw a real high quality skin that was multiple pieces and had the contours of the computer. I didn't get it at the time and now I really regret it. I just got my wife a new 15" MBP and I want to make sure to get one since she's super hard on computers.

I was hoping to get something like the soft neoprene case from Incase, but I guess they are not yet available. Then I saw the padfolios in store that had the right size to hold the 11" MBA, so I went home and dug up the one that I have in the basement. It turned out to be a pretty good interim solution. If you have one of these at home, you may wish to give it a try.

Pictures of that as well as bigger versions of the above pictures can be found here. Honestly, the 3acp skin is more decorative than protective by far on the outside, but on the inside, I feel much better putting my sweaty palms on the skin. If ever the skin gets worn out from my palms resting on it, I can remove it and replace it easily. Also, I had thought I wasn't going to want the part on the trackpad, but it was easier to install it and then remove it than to install the rest of it while avoiding installing the part on the trackpad. So I installed it all to start with the intention of removing the trackpad portion, but after it was installed I was surprised at how much I liked it and how smoothly the mouse still works. I also figure that this will also protect that portion of the laptop from being worn by my sweaty and oily fingers.

I think this thing would look really sharp with a black bezel, and I don't want to risk painting it or anything myself. I've done a quick google search and not found anything, but I'm also not really familiar with the popular sites and companies people go to for this kind of thing. I know Techrestore has announced a service to replace your air's screen with a matte one and replace the bezel with a black one while they're at it...but right now I'm just looking for an inexpensive, reversible (in case I don't like it) option.

I can't see an obvious layer to peel, but the top surface feels very "sticky" vs slippery as they do in the store, making it difficult to swipe or scroll effectively.I just don't want to pick at the mouse senselessly and scratch it if it really doesn't have a film layer on it.

Now, with my hardware slowly becoming obsolete and the wear starting to show its effects, I would have to get a new laptop in the near future. However, as I discovered, all new models have batteries that cannot be removed. After 2 years of service my battery swelled and had to be replaced. That's 2 years. With a new battery, my laptop's life has been prolonged.
How long will a new laptop last? Will I really have to buy a brand new expensive computer every two years just because of a design flaw?

I believe they remove the doors for access to the area, but I haven't seen shots of the back of the 13" MBP yet.

It was almost like a sticker that she placed on top of it and it went around the infamous apple on top of the laptop. It was a simple design, one color which was red. It was like a swirl that went around the apple. She told me what they were called and where to find them but it was so long ago that I can't remember. I'm looking into upgrading from the iBook that I have now to a MacBook or MacBook Pro. The site she referred me to was for Mac laptops only, but I can't find anything and I'm going nuts. If I remember correctly, the pricing was about $24.95 and up or something like that.
And I DO apologize if something like this has been posted before, if it has, pointing me in the right direction would be awesome. Now hopefully I'm in the right forum to post this.

I found this great site with a billion skins, but the last update was from 2008. So, can you change skins for Snow Leopard?
I downloaded the new skin. It says to
1. Control-Click on iTunes
2. Select 'Show Package Contents'
3. Open Contents folder, then Resource folder
4. Make a copy of the iTunes.rsrc
5. Install new skin and have fun!
When I get to "Make a copy of the iTunes.rsrc" I'm stuck. I don't get how and y I make a copy of it and how do I install the new skin? I did it somehow before but i don't remember how.
Is there a way to out-right remove the 'Leather' skins that Apple has used with iCal and Address book. We had a client jokingly ask us if we were working on kids computers the other day. Not impressed to say the least. We've read about the hacks floating around in the internet wilds but would prefer a Mac-enabled way of changing this. Why isn't this an option in the app preferences?

I figured out how to change the name so each time it comes up it has the unique name but the icon would be awesome. I tried "Get Info" but no help. I purchased an album off of iTunes and it double-loaded the songs on my iPhone. This is annoying enough, but the doubles are faulty, with no artwork, cutting out randomly, and even crashing iTunes on my phone. I removed the songs from my library (thinking I would just re-sync and reload them after) but the faulty doubles stayed on my phone. How do I get rid of them? They're not even in my library, and they don't show on my phone when I check it in iTunes, but they're still on the phone.
