Mar 8, 2010I have a 2009 MacBook Pro running Leopard with a 500 GB drive.
I seem to be losing hard disk space for no reason while web surfing in about 500 MB chunks. I tried emptying the trash, clearing the safari cache and history, and all that returned was about 200 MB.
Since I noticed this a week ago I've been keeping track, and have lost 4.5 GB of space for no reason.
I'm not adding files nor running time machine or some other backup that's constantly creating a disk image.

Apr 29, 2012I have a 500GB hardrive with 400GB being used. I can account for around 100GB for videos, movies, pojects, and applications. So basically there is about 300GB of taken up space thats unaccounted for. I don't know what could be taking up the space. If anyone can help me locate the data or know of a program to do it that would be awesome.

Sep 2, 2014I have purchased an external hard disk WD My Passport for Mac in order to backup my MacBook Air regularly (with time machine) and store films and pictures to save space from my mac. I have just realised that I have several old backups from my MacBook air stored in the hard drive which are taking quite a lot of space. I have tried deleting the old backups manually (I only need the last one, why would I need a backup from January?), however, the folder disappears but the space doesn't clear up, I'm guessing it's not possible to fully delete back ups this way. Â
I have read that it's possible deleting those old backups connecting the hard drive to a Windows PC but I do not have one (or any of my family or friends for that matter), surely there has to be a simpler way to clear up space from the hard drive, right? I have read to save the backup and files on my computer and then delete everything through disk utility, but I don't have enough space to keep the old backup and all the media I have stored on my HD in my mac (or another HD) in order to delete everything.

Jan 2, 2010I just recieved an external hard drive for Christmas, and so far have only put my videos and some other folders on the drive. I would like to put my itunes library on there, but have NO idea how to go about doing this.

I am a student so I use Microsoft word a lot and when I use it I use it as Notebook layout.
When I first used it I had no problem at all. But then I don't know what happened but all of sudden the letters I type in would be on top of a line instead of writing between lines like as writing on a notebook.
I opened my previous notebook layout documents and compared it to the new one but couldn't find what was different.

Mar 14, 2012I've bought a 1 TB iomega ego mac edition II external fire wire drive. Once connected it asked whether i want to create a password and whether i want my data encrypted, to which i answered yes. Then a time machine backup started and failed after backing up 5.25 GB out of 39 GB of my data with the following error: "The backup disk ran out of space unexpectedly. Time Machine will try to make more space available by removing expired backups during the next scheduled backup". When i look at time machine it shows there is 994.29 GB available on iomega ego drive. The drive then went into: "Encrypting Backup Disk" message and it takes forever.

I have the MacBook Pro 2010 13" and recently I've noticed my disc space is slowly decreasing with use.
Im not downloading files or anything, but today I lost around 600 MB of space, I just kept opening my Finder to discover less and less disc space each time.
Is this normal or do I have a problem, this is the first time I've noticed it in the month and a half I've owned the machine.

Dec 28, 2010Just quite surprised and then not at the same time that my 11.6 has just 46gbs after a fresh install of leopard. Can't fit anything on there! Looking at my migration assistant, I won't be able to transfer a lot of my applications over. Anyone who wants to do some video work, bootcamping, or photoshopping/editing shouldn't even look at a 64gb. An ultimate 11" seems to be a must for the harddrive space and the 4gb of ram.

May 16, 2012I have a Macbook Pro 15" from Mid 2010 and today I went and bought a Mini displayport to HDMI connection so I could use a TV as a monitor and clamshell.Â
The TV is an Emerson LC220EM1. Which is a 22" monitor.Â
I am having problems getting the TV to have clear resolution, It is okay, but its definitely not as clear as it could be.Â
Also when I put them in mirror mode, the top bar is cut off on the external monitor.
