Every time my mac goes into standby the wifi connection needs to be manually joined, so trying to connect remotely is impossible without joining a wifi network manually.

Recently, tried leaving my iMac in sleep mode for hours but it keeps crashing with those Crash Reports popping up when I click to wake it. They mention Kernel Panics.(Also, been getting Kernel Panics randomly popping up when I start up at the desktop. This is a 2010 iMac which I purchased refurbished not quite a year ago Already emailed seller with issues, think I might just return it as seems like hard drive is going. , as to troubleshooting before I go this route?

I recently purchased my Macbook and I noticed that the battery power is jumping at least an hour every time I check how much battery power it has left. I wanted to know if this was normal.

After standby mode my iMac 2011 with 10.7.3 seems to run corrupt with the kernel and activitymonitord tasks. CPU usage on one core runs to 100% only by scrolling fast in a window (finder, firefox, activity window). It happend without any system adjustment nor on any update or new software. Had the same issue months ago. Helped to went back to 10.7.2 and upraded again to 7.3 via combo update. System is after standby not usable, have to start system new as work around. Found same issue with other users on the web, but no solution. Â

When the computer is sleeping or if I turn it off but the plug remains in the electrical socket, when I get very close to the machine I hear a slight crackling noise, as if the internal adaptor is making a slight noise. I don't hear it from any normal distance, and other than the buzzing phenomenon when brightness is below 50%, no other symptom. Is this normal for this model. I believe that the external adaptor for the 30" ACD made a louder but similar noise as well unless unpluged.

I just bought my new IMac on friday. Worked great for a day and then I had a problem. The fan came on really loud for about a good 10 secs and the screen turned off. I hit the power button and the screen came back on quickly like it had went to sleep. However, the fan came right back on very loud and the screen went black. I did this a couple times until I just let it shut down for an hour because I thought it overheated.
The next time I turned it on it worked fine for about 3 hours and suddenly the fan came on super loud. This time the screen didn't shut off and I was able to continue but it was abnormally loud. This morning I turned it on again and within a minute the fan came on AGAIN. I have to mention that I'm not using any intensive application or anything. The last time I think I only had safari up. Also, this is my first mac and it's not looking promising...

my problem is since the update to 10.7.3, Lion isn't waking up from standby when I have left my external Monitor attached to my MacBook Pro. It will flash the keyboard backlight, but both displays remain black. And when i disconnect the external one, nothing happens. Only possibility to come out of this state: Hold power button for some seconds until it shutds down "hard".Â

I have a macbook pro 15-inch, Early 2011 running osx 10.9.4. I have a SSD hard drive that i installed myself a year ago and hasn't shown any defects. Its a 120 gb OCZ-AGILITY3.Â
My macbook will only boot in safe mode nowadays. I have done a complete erasion of my hard drive and installed osx mavericks twice already. After the installation the computer will safely go to the desktop. But if i then do a reboot it won't get further than after the first apple logo, sometime the turning wheel will pop up, before turning off and trying again. i have tried resetting PRAM, I have tried resetting SMC, i have tried avoiding SMC (with big fan rate), but all with no success.Â
I have done a complete hardware test (the longer one) and it showed "no troubles found".Â
My guess is that the problem is with the battery. My computer won't run anymore without the adapter, when i pull the adapter out it either stays on for a while before just turning off. Without having it plugged in it won't start. Is it possible that during normal start up there is some kind of communication with the battery that can cause this?Â
I ran a diagnostic shown in this thread (Will only boot in safe mode) and included it in this post.
Start time: 17:07:42 08/25/14Â Â

After upgrading to OS X Lion the machine after som hours do not respond at all to either mouse, spacebar or any other keys on the keyboard. Moving the mouse creates a pattern on the display/screen, but no options appear. The machine appears to going to sleep, but is unable to wake up.The only way to make the machine react, is to use the power button.I have changed the settings so that the machine never goes to sleep, but this has no effect.

So a week ago I opened Photoshop and my macbook froze and gave me this screen:
I had to force it to shut down, and when I turned it back on, I'd get the chime, I'd see the logo and the spinning cog, then it would go to a white screen and either stall or shut itself off... I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. I went into Disk Utility and verified the disk and the permissions. I also reset Photoshop's preferences, and completely reinstalled it. Booting in safe mode worked, but of course it's a little slow and I can't use some programs. I was able to start up normally by booting in single user mode and running the /sbin/fsck -fy command a couple times.Â
I ended up taking it to a Genius Bar, they ran a couple diagnostic tests and confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue and it was probably the OS. They reinstalled Snow Leopard, I restored my stuff with my Time Machine backup, and everything worked fine for a couple days.Â
But today when I turned it on, it shut itself down again! And running single user mode doesn't work anymore. It'll say "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." and when I reboot, it shuts down at the white screen. Now the only way it will boot up is in safe mode, and if I close the lid to put it in sleep mode, it'll turn itself off after a few minutes.Â
I'm not incredibly tech savvy, but I'm wondering if it could be a third party program. I'm not sure how to find out which one is causing the issue, though... I've uninstalled SMCfanControl and StartupSound.prefpane. Those are the only two I can think of that could potentially mess with the startup...

I am on 10.6.4. I have learned that I can boot up in 32-bit mode by holding down the 3 and 2 keys while starting up. Is reverting back to 64-bit mode as easy as holding down the 6 and 4 key? If not, then what?

when i was working on my master thesis document, i closed my macbook(physically with display down). He goes into standby. But when i opened it again, he didn't woke up. Pressed every keys, touched the touchpad, nothing happened. Then i hard rebooted, nothing happened, only the fan started making extreme loud noise. So i did a hard shut down, disconnected everything(powersupply, battery, usbstick, etc etc). Inserted the battery and the powersupply again and booted. My screen lit up, logo appeared, and the cicle(busy icon of the mouse) but it didn't rotate.

how do you put it in a standby yet still leave you MacBook Pro running?
In my case if I switch to a non-existant input on the display it sits in the screensaver continually and never goes to power save mode.

Today at school, I was using my laptop as normal. During lunch time I just closed the laptop display screen (so it goes on standby) and placed it in my bag. 1 hour and a half later, I go into my bag to reach for my book. My whole bag and books were VERY warm. I touched my laptop case to find that it was even warmer. I pulled out my laptop and I had to set it down immediately because it was far too hot to touch; eggs could have been fried on it (no exagerration). I was scared to open it, so I placed it outside in the cool air and now it has cooled down and I've started up again. This has never happened before, I've never dropped it and my laptop is just a year old this month (convenient now, that the guarantee just expired ).Problems first started occuring when I updated to Lion. First thing I noticed, is that it starts up and shuts down SO slowly (slower than a PC, believe it or not) and I only have 53,15 GB out of the 319,21 GB available used. So there is 266 GB FREE space. So I figured this cannot be the memory. After 2 months or so, I also noticed that when I turn on my computer, the Apple sign on the startup comes out very stretched, sometimes it comes up on the left hand corner and the rest of the screen isn't white but coloured lines. 3 days ago, I noticed the fan was making a funny sound. This stopped 2 days later, then today randomly on standby it beyond heated up. Why is this happening? MUST I go to the shop? (I'm a student and cannot afford 500EUR repairs at the moment, other than the fact I cannot live without my laptop for 6-8 weeks as I have all my coursework to do, etc.)

I'm trying to dowload a lion upgrade and the lion icon drops down to the icon bar, and the download begins, but after 18 hours it is only 25% of the way through. I pause and resume every few hours in case the process is stuck, but nothing speeds this up. My wifi connection has been fast enough to download big installs like this before in a few hours, so I can't figure out what I need to be doing differently.

My old G5 dual 1.6 will not go into sleep mode. I had upgraded to 10.5 but several of my photography programs would not run so I reverted back to 10.4 by reinstalling the operating system and not wiping the drive clean. I now must shut down everytime or the G5 will get to the point that all of the cooling fans are running full speed and it will not go into sleep mode automatically. Any suggestions other than a clean install?

I'm running Windows Vista x64 so I decided today to install the 64 bit version of iTunes. After installing it I checked the task manager and saw that it was still reported as a 32 bit program, also my iPhone does not seem to be detected. I was just wondering if I installed the wrong version or if there was something I missed. Here is a screenshot of my task manager to help illustrate what I am talking about.
