Mac Pro :: Red Light Visible Through The Front Mesh?
Nov 23, 2010Just kinda notice there's a red light visible through the front mesh, on opening the side door, the light seems to be coming from one of the four LED's on the lower memory riser. On closer inspection, the label says DIMM 2.
I've tried swapping, moved some ram about.. and the light still appears (on the same riser). Does this mean that riser has developed a fault?

Dec 14, 2009I shall describe the sequence of events as accurately as i can.
1) I havent used my mac pro for a couple of weeks
2) I switch it on 5 mins ago and it boots fine, I log in and launch safari from the dock.
3) Computer freezes, mouse doesn't move, complete unresponsive.
4) I push power button for a few seconds to force a shut down.
5) I power up.
6) boots fine, after surfing the web for a few mins, MP just reboots, no warning, screen just goes black and the fans and chime kick in.
7) doesn't get to log in screen, instead it reboots itself, fans and chimes kick in
8) doesn't like it, computer shuts down, front panel light blinking at 1/2 second intervals.

PowerPC :: Ambient Light G5 2.0 Imac Shut Off?
Oct 28, 2009So I've done all I can find on the internet on helping my broken computer. It used to have the noisy fan issue and then it would shut off. Now after being off for 12 hours, it may shut off in 2 minutes, maybe in 30. I have reset the SMU by unplugging for 10 seconds and then plugging in while simultaneously holding the power button, then turning it on. Ive also reset the PRAM, but it still seems to shut off. Is it a bad power supply? I dont ever hear the fans blowing hard anymore.
If anyone has basic things to do, I'm all ears. I know last step is probably just reinstall OSX.
I'm on 10.4 right now.
OS X :: ISight Light Won't Turn Off And IMac Freezes At Shut Down?
Jan 7, 2011tonight I started having trouble with my intel iMac (running OSX 10.4.11). I'm having issues with two things (bolded for those skimming):
Out of seemingly nowhere, my iSight light turned on and now wont turn off. The only program I had open at the time was Firefox. When I try to open up PhotoBooth it says this:
There's nothing listed under USB High-Speed Bus in the system profiler either.
I've tried logging out of my user account, restarting, shutting down, unplugging and holding the back button for 5 seconds ...none of that worked. I tried resetting my Mac's PRAM and NVRAM. That didn't work either, and that's where a second problem appeared: when I try to shut my computer off, it freezes. I have to shut it off by holding the back button.
Is repairing the permissions and/or disk worth a shot? Or should I just take it straight into the Apple store? I hope it's not a hardware issue because I just recently had a new hard-drive installed after it broke down on December 15.

Feb 10, 2012I upgraded to Lion and sadly, Front Row is not supported. I somehow found the Front Row app in my systems folder and moved it to my Applications folder. Front Row now shows up in my applications folder, as well as Launchpad. However, when I go into Front Row, it does not recognize any of my media from iTunes. I tried out this website: [URL]..blog/frontrowenablerforlion to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make Front Row work in OS X Lion.Â

Nov 15, 2007On every MB I've used since they first came out, you could hook the audio and video up, close the lid, and if it went into sleep mode, the Apple Remote would trigger a "wake up" for mediacenter purposes on a TV/stereo. My SR MB w/ 10.5 doesn't do it. As soon as the lid closes, it's asleep no matter how I toggle the view between screen and external port. Front Row doesn't wake it anymore. Anyone else having this problem? I wanted to find out before calling and asking.

Jun 22, 2009alright so everything with my late 2008 macbook pro had been fine up until about three weeks ago when it started to randomly crash (while watching movies online and using vuze). so tonight i decided to reset the PRAM since i had seen that as a possible solution on some of the other threads on this issue. did that but now the front power LED doesn't come on when the computer is on. so far no crashes yet but who knows

Jun 1, 2012I have had some problems for about the past year with the front USB port on my 2009 13in Macbook Pro 5.5.
As you know, there are 2 USB ports on the left side on a 13inch Macbook pro. The one closest to me (the front one) works fine when I use it with a flash drive. But when I connect my external 7200RPM external drive to it, after about a minute, it ejects then re-recognizes the disk.
I video edit with FCP and use the external as one of my scratch disks.
At first I thought maybe it was the cord or the drive that was messed up. But then I connected my other external drive to this port and the same thing happened. But when I connected it to the back USB port, everything works fine. I haven't had any trouble. So i make sure it's connected to that port when using the external.

May 30, 2008Since the MBA has no internal DVD drive, I would like to pre load some DVD's on the MBA hard drive before I go on the road. I was thinking of using mac the ripper to rip my personal DVD. Is there a way in Front Row to import video_ts files without using an optical disk? As far as memory serves this wasn't possible with Tiger.If this is impossible what is an other way to store DVD's on my hard drive and watch them in front row?

Jul 20, 2010I have the rev. C Air, recently bought. It works fine but I have noticed that when I tilt the screen back almost all of the way that the front left side lifts slightly off the desk. I can see that the front left pad is not touching the desk. Is this an idiosyncrasy of the computer? Do others have the same symptom? Of course once I place my hands on the computer and start typing it's not really a problem, but I can certainly feel it click down to the desk or if I lift my hands off and slightly push down there is a space there. I think it is a weight issue, because once I pull the screen slightly towards me the space disappears as well as the issue.

Mar 24, 2010I have a PowerBook G4 that I am making into a tablet. Now, I'll mostly be using this for class notes, homework, online textbooks, etc. However, I'll also do a fair bit of using it as a "media centre." It still has tiger, and I'd like to run front row. It's awesome on my uMBP, but the s-video out is much more convenient than the mini-display port on mbp. Will Leopard support front row on ppc, or is there another way?
